Karl, Ian and Mike discuss Desert Brutality 2020, Day 1 (Stages 1-3) in Classic Auto division, with Ian running a FG42 and a French 1935A pistol. InRange is entirely viewer supported: / inrangetv
200 people with AR's and AK´s show up. Then comes those would-be hipsters with M1-Carbines and Garands... - Then some dude speaking french, wearing a baret and a villain-stache walks up with an FG-42...
shoots like a dream, its the trigger that is absolutely awful on these. SMG put a top notch barrel in but the design of the gun prevents the trigger from being anything short of garbage! You can actually "pre-set" the trigger... if you gently pull it, you can get the sear to creep until its ready to break... then its like having a hair trigger!
Yeah, when it really shouldn't be. People say the FG system is "open-bolt in full-auto and closed-bolt in semi-", and without further thinking about it assume its closed bolt works the same way as the normal, hammer-fired kind, which it doesn't. The way it works, it should exhibit mass-lurch like an open-bolt gun.
jic1 In-line stock with a reciprocating recoil assembly and an effective muzzle brake. I am agreeing with you, just pointing out two extra salient features.
Wait what? You mean aiming the pistol sideways, gangster style, has some legitimate uses? Say it ain't so! ^_^ Also, every time I see someone do a Kasarda drill, I imagine a scene in my head where some guy just spins it around a few times and throws it at the target from 50 yards. I'm sure it would be a DQ, but if a guy can throw a 65-pound kettlebell and hit a target with it from 50 yards away, I would count the target "neutralized."
@@PhycoKrusk Well, then at least it should be "Vive!" because that other nonsense is Spanish. However, vive as a word was rarely used on its own, so it should still be something like "Vive la France" or "Vive la Résistance"'.
I really like the talks with the sponsors at the beginning of these videos. It’s about as unobtrusive as an effective ad can be and it does a good job of portraying a “face” and humanizing the companies out there who made DB2020 possible.
The public rifle range at the local wilderness preserve has a cement sewer tube we have to shoot through, and it rings like a bell every shot. So I totally get the reverb thing.
I'm loving all these themed loadouts from this match. Each one is highlighting the overtly good qualities of each piece of gear as well as its shortcomings. Very well thought out choices, Guys!
I like the format. You have the stages spread out through the video to give context to what you’re talking about. I realize the extra editing takes time and work; it is much appreciated. The quality is top notch
Bloke almost looks like he does car reviews for a living, maybe he's sporting that look on purpose. Chin gave it away though, and if that wasn't enough of a hint, the everrain islands lingo is.
I like how you don’t have scripted sponsee messages. It’s great to see someone actually from the company alongside you. I really appreciate the honest and straightforward sponsorship
I've wondered this for a long time but this is the first time I'm doing it aloud... but why is 7.92mm the only caliber that is rounded in any direction? Like pretty much anything is said to the 100s of a millimeter
@@coolsenjoyer has to do with the trials, where two different 7.92 were testet for different guns and so they called one 8, to easily tell em apart, if I remember correctly.
if i remember correctly, they said in a previous video that their reproduction FG42 is chambered in 308, since that is easier to get your hands on in the US.
@@coolsenjoyer There are a few others, but for 7.92 it's so damn close that it might as well be 8mm. You're not going to tell unless you have very accurate calipers.
I doubt anyone will see an actual VSS outside of Russia, for that matter, I doubt anyone will actually see one IN Russia, unless you are a terrorist or mob enforcer... but then you are seeing the wrong end of it... It will let you create one in areas where it is allowed though. On a serious note, one of the biggest things stopping the making of a VSS replica, is not governments, but rather a community that favours conformity. I’m Australian and I want to build a M16A2 based on ADF recommendations, but when I go to any AR-15 community and ask for recommendations, all I get is abuse and saying to get the bog standard gamer gun. I. Don’t. Want. That. I want something with meaning. Accept your mediocrity and uniqueness, and look for something that fits you as you are, not you as you want others to see you as.
@@MASSspec1990 Oh, I understand how difficult it can be to get your hands on Bloc/Warsaw Pact/Modern RUS weaponry with no restrictions, I just think the VSS would be a nice Unicorn gun to add to a collection. Especially with ammo being available. I totally agree with you on the elitism and conformity in the firearms community, if it's not a Chrome Deagle chambered in .54 Gyrojet or a Famas covered in dildo camo, they don't care. Those people deserve to have a really annoying illness, like IBS. Best of luck building that A2 though, I like the sound of that! 👌
Excellent video and presentation as always, you don't get this kind of stuff anywhere else. I really hope you do Bloke's runs as well! Just subbed to your patreon (my first patreon subscription actually), you guys earned it. Love what you're doing for the firearm and shooting sports community
If you do it right there isn't really much strain on your back. You're supposed to throw it with your hips and shoulders. That's where a lot of guys screw up with it, they do all back and it doesn't go nearly as far.
Personally, I love the audio shift from shooting before the trench to after getting into the trench. Enough of the blast was deflected to give a richer noise signature. Fantastic.
After seeing the riot shield in the first video (Karl shooting) I made one for our IPSC match last Sunday. Hats off to Ian, that is NOT an easy way to shoot a pistol! And yes, I think we all ended up canting the pistol fairly severely! Great idea... everyone loved it. thanks for the inspiration. I do NOT think introducing a kettlebell would be QUITE as popular!
Ian, I know you shoot southpaw but watching you shoot pistol one handed ala 1943 US training video for the 1911 looked like anyone else trying to go it "hard mode." Thumbs up all the way.
This all-offhand version of the Kasarda drill makes me want to see a Left 4 Dead inspired version with a large garden gnome (named Gnome Chomsky of course) that has to be taken through the whole course.
My Ksarda drill looked a little like yours (except I timed out with one throw and two shots left to go): 9 yards, 8 yards, 7 yards... to just about in danger of hitting my feet at the end.
At 20:57, Ian explains that he didn't put the muzzle brake into the tire because of the horrific muzzle blast. Just as well; never mind the noise, can you imagine if the tire had caught on fire!? AAaaaahhh, the stench of burning rubber.......
In this video, particularly in the segment with the Kasarda drill, we see another fine example of "range officer and camera guy were not ready for Speedy McCollum". :) (Also, shooting through those tires makes a cool sound. I'm just saying.)
Lovely sunny morning.. How cold was it dude? I can see every breath. Also bloke on the range! you are a great guy do not be overwhelmed by knowledge! you can still a lot to the conversation! its WW2 Guns!
