@@BlokeontheRange Why not throw in a Colt Lightening pump action? I think they didn't get picked up by militaries because (like levers) they aren't good shooting over a berm, and didn't see old West popularity because they weren't as flat in profile as a lever (and so didn't fit a scabbard on a horse as well).

If they can find somebody willing to shoot a pump as well that would be good, since I can already picture the 'a pump-action would have beaten you all' comments.

Over on British Muzzleloaders I suggested "Inclement Civility" - (prob Canadian) "One Gun plus Bayonet" match for Muzzleloaders with a Brutality feel. Inclement weather mandatory - keep that powder dry men! Indian Clubs replacing that acursed Kettle Bell.

@@ZGryphon Why wouldn't it be viable? You're just holding the rounds and ramming them in, there isn't much stress being put on a printed part.

@@derektran9404 Plastic generally can't do the right combination of thin/rigid/springy that stripper clips need to have. They're either too thick to fit the guides, too thin to be strong enough, or too brittle to work without breaking, or some combination of the three. I'm sure there are exceptions, there are a lot of stripper-charged guns out there, but none of the ones I can think of off the top of my head would work very well made out of the kind of materials consumer 3D printers use.

@@ZGryphon You just make a PETG stripper clip, as it has the strength and flex. Any durability issues can be solved by having a thicker body and thinning out to fit into a guide.

@@ZGryphon i heard someone made printing clips for the Swiss guns work, but they were originally made of cardboard and with the design any strength lost can be recuperated somewhere else on Mannlicher-type clips, they have to fit inside the magazine while holding on the rounds AND provide the feed lips for the gun Mauser-type are even simpler, but the problem is that they don't have much meat on the part holding the round, and the rounds want to slide off the side more often than not, putting torque on the lip holding the rim, if it's about the spring inside the clip, it's just a friction piece so just make a ridge to push on the cartridge base

I'm just editing my headcam footage right now, and I am pretty sure I was pulling down on the handguard against the barricade, causing the shots to go high.

Please correct my understanding here. I was under the impression that free floating the barrel is implemented to eliminate flexure caused by handguards, accessories, sling attachment points, etc. Changes in the weapon's zero as a result of heating caused by shooting a match all day would happen regardless of whether the barrel was free-floated or not. I think I learned this when InRange had a vid a month or two ago where they tested free-floating barrels for predictable and consistent heat distortion for the WWSD2020 project. Am I misunderstanding something? Thanks.

@@BravoCharleses Jerry is right. I was putting quite a bit of downward pressure on the front end with the sling when I zero'd at 300 and 500 yards. I'm pretty sure I was missing way high when that pressure was no longer there.

Former USMC armorer here: always carried the old A2s around the armory by the carrying handles.

It’s the only way. As a lefty, like Ian, I don’t really dig bolt actions, but the stripper clips that an smle user would have at their disposal would definitely be the way to go in my book. Honestly, until the garand was available, I’d probably go with a 10 round stripper clip fed bolt gun.
