Fun fact: The CLU that shoot's the missile is $250,000 and each Javelin missile is $96,000. The missile looks like it's going to hit the ground before launching into the air. Probably the coolest thing I've ever seen.
Iraq: firing a missile at someone that costs more than they will ever make Ukraine: firing a missile at someone that costs more than they will ever make (but fuck the russians, they deserve it)

I remember back when me and my friends used to play MW2 and would get scared of me when I use the Javelin cause they know that most shots would kill them when I use it
Its not about how it looks but how it acts. Javelin was designed to hit armored targets from above for example tanks tower because the top have less armor plating than the sides and front.
KableFI Not completely true. A Javelin HEAT can penetrate armor. It should have 800-1000mm of penetration. It has a hard time of penetration explosive reactive armor, not armor plating. ERA reacts to HEAT weapons by exploding on contact to minimize the effectiveness penetration by disrupting the HEAT projectiles function
@The Colonel no, it really is not. firstly, the operator would be much further from the target. in top attack mode, after the soft launch clears the missile of the launcher, the main propellant will launch the missile at about 18° until it reaches a peak height of around 150 metres. (if the operator is closer the missile reaches a significantly lower peak height) at this point the missile will direct downwards towards the target. nothing at all like the immediate 90° climb up to several hundred metres before coming vertically downwards.
they dont. okey maybe not at such a short distance. but on longer range it ties to go up and then slam the top of the target. or Im I thinking of something else. but yee that 90 degree instant turn feels off. also dont javlin have a direct fire goes straight line and. a "mortal" fire mode.
@@vanja2565 looked it up on IMFDB and the graphic there looks correct. I think why it looks so wonky is that they are fired inside the minimum range 150m (492ft) in top-attack mode and 65m (213ft) in direct mode and it looks like the devs just scaled it down to minimum of 1 meters. also in top down mode at 500Meters it clocks out at 40 meters up. its just in all the game they scale everything down so hard everything gets wonky. plazas been 15 feet wide.
Btw there are different fire modes, 3 to be exact, Wire Guided, Vertical slam, and unguided. Wired guided is what is portrayed in battlefield, vertical slam (long range) in cod, and unguided is not portayed in any of these games
The FGM-148 Javelin could be used during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and my own Fiction in the Atlernate Timeline from the VGR Universe The Murder Drones War. The FGM-148 Javelin was upgraded on January 6th, 2022 since the 1st Anniversary of the US Capitol Attack that the FGM-148 Javelin can target Disassembly Drones to destroy Disassembly Drones during The Murder Drones War.

And it actually correct! Javelin have direct-fire mode and not have barrel at all - it's a disposable missile container and yes, you attaching new container to sight system to reload it
@@ЕвгенийМакаров-в6л, basically they pick the spent tubes they "remember" to pick back, and then send back to the US to be reloaded.... What's the weight of each? Because i doubt more than 3-4 would be affordable for an AT squad to carry for reloading
The computer is a reusable targeting system. The ‘barrel,’ more like a container, is disposed after firing. There is direct and indirect fire on the Javelin. Direct through IR/Radio/Heat tracks directly to target. Indirect penetrates tanks with composite armor, effective against HEAT, from above
There’s two mode of firing with the Javelin IRL and in BF3. Top attack (missile go up and strike the turret of the tank) Direct attack (missile go straight horizontally to his target) In BF3 you needs the SOFLAM to laser paint your target and enables the top attack mode.
Nope. Can hit bunkers and low hovering helicopters. The helicopter it hit in this video wouldn't have been able to hit, moving too fast and you can only fire at helicopters and bunkers in direct mode

1:13 Bruh what 1) Thermal vision doesnt look like this 2) Javelin cant take Aircraft as target 3) Also Javelin has special screen? (Idk what its called but you can see it in CoDMW19 and BF4 and other games 0:03, 0:17, 0:39, 0:52)
@@antitankautism8052 perhaps, I've never seen one actually fired. But isn't that an ideal efficient standard to head towards, with as little delay between launch and firing of the missile's thruster...?
@@antitankautism8052 He just happened to shoot it at a really close target. The javelin in Bf4 and Bf3 do have the top-attack function, but a teammate would have to laser designate the target first, otherwise the javelin will shoot direct like it does in his clips.
Operation Flashpoint nailed it. That game sucked in every other way, but it nailed the javelin. I was an Anti-tank Missleman in the Marine Corps, 0352. The javelin is an impressive weapon. Most of these games got it dead wrong. Painfully so. The CLU and the actual missile tube are seperate pieces, and the combined weight is roughly 50+ lbs. It's not something you carry around on your back, (even though we did) with multiple reloads that you get to toss aside when done. That's a several hundred thousand dollar weapon system.
It can. It's a multipurpose anti-structure/vehicle weapon. which is why the military says you have only 30 seconds to run from the FGM-148 when you're the enemy. since no cover can protect you from a 148 lol
at least in the videos of the real javelin I saw it doesnt fly like that I also dont think it makes a difference for the impact if the missle flyes at a higher speed
@@mrbloxz7646 if you set the javelin to top attack it will fly above the target. Tanks usually have weaker armor on top than in the front or sides so yeah, it will sure make a difference.
Every cod doesn't even have anywhere close to a live javelin round attached to the clu. they all show a missile simulated round (msr), its literally a pipe with sand and some rubber pads to simulate a real round for training. (you can tell by the metal ring when the front end cap goes.) Battlefield doesn't look much better, at least cod has some semblance of track gates. Arma 2 is almost sad. The javelin is a very cool weapon but every game seems to really neglect it, likewise the M41a7 saber (the thing that shoots tow missiles)
