People really underestimate Gogh. She is the crit queen no matter what color card she gets. She's my main servant on JP and I'm ready to roll for her on NA too.
True, the funny thing is that i didnt want to roll for her cause im saving for muramasa and percival but i just get in love with the way she is and ended up rolling a lot for her. Got her by god blessing and found out she is broken af and really fun to play with. Would totaly grail her to 100 if i didnt have to save them for percival
By far one of the most complete and powerful servants in FGO, also so underrated due her mechanics that most people say "complicated" Real life Gogh was misunderstood when he was alive, and i can see that FGO Gogh is suffering the same fate, kind of curious. Good luck to everyone🌻✨
As a massive Van Gogh user, she’s better off being the DPS rather than supporting any other foreigner. Pairing two Van Goghs with Douman essentially means you win any CQ that isn’t immune to debuffs, even on neutral. The fear stacks on that comp is insane and you can stall until Van Gogh’s guts skill returns while constantly spamming NP.
@@lilpainteroftales4386 eh i mean, if you pull Van Gogh you’re better off using him as the DPS since imo Voyager isn’t good to begin with but Van Gogh would definitely strengthen and support your Voyager. Voyager would probably be outshined by Van Gogh even if Van Gogh is supporting him though.
@@lilpainteroftales4386 frankly, i'd say voyager works pretty well with gogh (double or otherwise), his crits will hit hard, you'll get an offensive np and he has his own evade at worst - plus the fact that if you double van + voyager, all 3 units have very high card damage, you dont have to worry about getting support cards when trying to do damage, because all units are highly damaging anyone with the outer passive works very well with gogh - even if you put in a blank servant with no skills it'd still work well one of my fav voyager comps would be with miyu tho, quite a few people did it and its pretty fun
@@brunoslybruno Thank you. I’m trying to pull for Van Gogh, but its good to know that there is another comp option available. I have a np 3 Voyager which is why I’m trying so hard to use him (I don’t want to have all that sq go to waste). I think i can still use voyager for a bit more as he is helping me through Babylonia. I don’t really care if he becomes overshadowed by Van Gogh just as long as he is on the team.
Van Gogh is a monster that works with anyone. Summer BB to lock in three turns of Gogh goodness, Castoria for NP gain and hard invul, Mash for defense. She's brilliant against neutral enemies and insane against Berserkers. She doesn't need Skadi. Gogh can gogh on her own!
Down worry, these are all points ive seen brought up at least 10 times in different forums i frequent so you are not alone, its a common misconception as she has a full quick deck.
Van Gogh reminds me of Super Orion in that it's possible to pair her with supports for more damage, but in a lot of cases it's actually better to solo with her so that you get her quick cards every turn to rack up those attack up buffs from her third skill.
Besides min turning CQ I always found myself using Van Gogh over the meta supports like Koyan,Skadi sometimes even Tamamo and Lady Avalon (when paired with Castoria) I love the fact that her burst uptime is so easy to maintain the stars per turn,stars absorb and aoe terror are just amazing imo. Top 10 best ssr for sure a lot of people knows she's good but I feel like not lot of people talked about her
Besides my gripes about losing out on the actual Van Gogh, i will definitely be rolling for her. Hard not to when quick is my favorite type, crits are life, and she has a craziness i can get behind.
Some people don't roll for her because of these misconceptions. I don't roll for her because Daddy Douman is just around the corner We are not the same.
I appreciate this video. I saw some solo videos of her but, due to my genuine disinterest in the character, didn't really understand her wider application. I started playing around April this year and have been diligently saving for next year's banners. Hopefully once I get the Servant that got me to play the game, I ca start saving for units like this. Fingers crossed for The First Hassan in the future.

van gogh carried me through JP and honestly like all you need for support most of the time is literally just another Van Gogh, shes one of the least demanding unit to use imo since you really dont need to have any specific unit yourself, just your own gogh and a support gogh is enough for most battles in the game
Not rolling for Gogh because you don't have Skadi is like not rolling for Chad Orion because you don't have Merlin. They don't need it, don't you worry.
If Van Gogh can support any of the Abigails, then I am for sure rolling for her. VG-Summer Abby-Douman would be a pretty interesting comp to work with too.
@@nornng7082 Abby does get the bonus Existence Beyond the Domain buff yeah. VG is stupendously good in being DPS (solo or team), crit support general and foreigner. Very well designed in gameplay, top tier. Hopefully Lavinia down the line could also help being a foreigner support
I have to admit I haven't looked much into how she worked I understood the basics but the more I've been using her the more I like how she plays. Really unique playstyle. Yeah it's easy for people to just make basic assumptions about a Servant just by glancing at their kits.
Surprised to see how few people know how to use Van Gogh. I've always used a double van Gogh x Summer BB team comp to crush bosses/CQs and steamroll level 90+ quests.
As someone who lacks a Skadi, my Gogh on jp has never had any issue dominating many, many fights, nor has she ever really been a bad option as a crit support since crit up, atk up, another atk up with star gather rate for 3 turns, stars/turn, quick res down, and def down are all pretty useful, not to mention a party wide 1 hit evade is a nice tool for challenging content most of the time. Van Gogh is just a good in general
I just started playing on JP recently and borrowed someone's Van gogh. She has been carrying me to lostbelt 2, and my only support is waver from the free ssr ticket. Gonna roll for her on NA fosho Edit: I got her both on my JP and NA now. I'm so happy 🥳
A team comp I'm really having unexpected fun with is Gogh + Himiko. Himiko gives an incredible star regen to compliment Goghie's NP one, overcharges her NP (which is good, since you're already stacking a lot of crit dmg by spamming it and buffing the atk more gives bigger returns anyway afaik) and thank to Goghie's role being interchangable between main and sub dps/support, you can switch between one and the other being the dpt based on current skill cooldown. And they should technically not vibe at all together card-wise. Just goes to show how versatile and malleable our little flower truly is. You can do so many cool things with her it's not even funny.
U can also use double van gogh with Helena for more stars per turn, buster art quick buff multipliers, and 20% np up for all. Since she's a 4 stars and not story locked, you can get her quite easily
I see a lot of untapped territory people have with Van Gogh, outside of people using her as a soloist Quick Chadrion or makeshift "Quick" support. While I would throw a bit towards Van Gogh's way, I am sadly strapped for Quartz between the last couple of banners and I need to save Percy, Oberon, Magician Charlotte and throw whatever leftovers I got at Izumo. Still, I appreciate you clearing up these misconceptions.
The only reason I'm not rolling for Gogh is the fact I've choose to save all sq for muramasa. It's clear by her kit she likes to crit alot so by putting her with people who can either gen even more stars or by someone who needs a shit tone of stars. Like you could many have Heracles in there simply for raw damage kek
Honestly you make a good arguement for Van Gogh. Though I'm still going for Nemo but I'll defitely consider her if I happen to have spare SQ then, for future Lucky Bags, or when interlude 17 campaign comes around.
Double Van Gogh is absolutely ridiculous in terms of crit damage. She’s the only reason why I’m even able to beat event CQs. I’ve heard the later Lostbelts are thick with high HP berserkers, so having a Gogh will make your life much easier while going through them.
I only played JP for like half a year but Double Gogh team carried my whole ass through 90% of difficult content. They crit every enemy into oblivion. I only have 120 quartz on NA currently, pls pray for me to get her.
Van Gogh is one of the most self sustainable DPSs if not the best, on top of having great team utility. I don't know why they released her because she's BROKEN
Honestly my go to 90+ Team before Koyanskaya and a Team I love running even today with her, is my Level 120 Summer Abby, Himiko, Van Gogh, or Abby, Gogh, Gogh/Douman!
Some people think that you should just uninstall if you don't have Skadi, so I just follow my heart and neuron activation when it comes to rolling, then I built a team around it, don't care if it's tier A or C.
I got Van Gogh by accident during Imaginary Scramble on JP (I was rolling for one of the CEs) but man I'm glad I got her. She's become my go-to for challenge quests.
I been enlightened by her when I start playing JP. I always paired her with Sen no Rikyu and Douman when I'm having trouble. You must really used her to know how effective and devastating she is.
I'm not planning to roll for Van Gogh because Himiko drained almost all my SQs stacks. Eventhough I indeed saved for her, I didn't expect her to need that many-----
Couldn’t she just put a bunch of the 2* CCs that remove DOTs on her cards, then remove a whole 6 curse stacks in one turn with a Quick chain? Not to mention that she has a class advantage as a foreigner.
double van gogh + atlas MC, at turn 5, one Gogh will have atleast 150% NP charge. And on the 7th turn, the other will have atleast 180%. But enough of that, i just want my Clytie Van Gogh and i got NP2, i'm fine skipping every banner until the 6th anniv.
It is too bad when a character is misunderstood like this. So props on making a video to clear some misconceptions. I wasn't going to pass on that banner because of them. But it's still good to hear from someone that knows how to use the character. Definitely seems good and I hope people rolling have the best of luck.
Something weird i saw some people that van gogh either mainly work as a support or is only a support. Wich is so stupid because there is a reason people call her Quick Super Orion
Oh yah, I used to have her on an old account before even I knew how to play the game, I didn’t know how buffs worked or anything I never used proper characters and she carried me to Camelot basically by herself.
You also don't need to roll np2 if you're just using her for foreigner crits. Np2 will give foreigners +175% crit damage which is added to the base crit damage of 200% for a total of 375% total damage. Np1 is 350% which is only ~7% lower.
What’s your opinion on np levels on Van Gogh? I know they’re obviously not necessary as it’s a non damage NP, but how good is np2+? I love her and want to get multiple copies but I kinda want to hear other opinions lol
Honestly the scaling for crit up aint bad for this one, I personally only have np1 and if you are more focused on buffing specifically foreigners its kind of unnoticeable. However if you like using her on other servants or just enjoy soloing with her in general NP2 can’t hurt. Its really more dependent on your budget and your future roll plans more than anything.
As an NP2 owner, the 25% CD makes a difference. It’s certainly worth going for NP2 but if you’re saving for other servants, NP1 is enough. Van Gogh will easily clear any future CQ that isn’t debuff immune even at NP1.
I’m only rolling for Summer Mama Raikou in this event, I don’t wanna try and deal with her kit. Good luck to anyone who’s gonna be rolling for her though
i never understood why people think she's a good fit for curse teams, her passive saves her from dying to that and she has a battery based on it, but 10 turn duration curse (meaning you can easily cycle it more than once)+battery already being very high+absorbing the curse to herself made it obvious to me that it'd be a bad fit for her, maybe its because i dont focus on clearing her curses so getting more isnt needed but its so weird
One thing I’ve seen people do to enable VG to better fit into curse teams is place the 2* CC that removes one DOT debuff whenever you attack with the card, so you remove one curse with her Buster and Arts card and two curses with her Quick cards. I’m still working on leveling my VG (she still needs a few more levels and silver fous, but her skills are maxed), but I think I’m going to try that for myself when I do the Gilles CQ to see how well that works.
@@brunoslybruno Alright, it works in a somewhat interesting way. The quick cards removing a curse only gives one attack buff, but it does successfully remove two curses per quick card. One idea I had would be to run VG with Tamamo and throw in whatever curse stacker you want (Dantes and Doman work well). The goal is to use the constant curse stacks from VG and the curse user to keep VG’s no battery topped up, then use Tamamo’s NP to keep VG and the curse user NPing, while also decreasing the cooldowns on VG’s skills, meaning she can use her survivability skills and battery mire frequently.

Hey I'm a new player to fate go started early october and I just finished babilonya. I have gilgamesh as my only 5 star with heracles berserk. I was thinking of summoning for van goh and douman. It is a good idea? Or should I just wait for some kind of better servants that i should save up for that i don't know of?
Since there are no upcoming banners that really goes well with buster servants (iirc), having van gogh would be a really good starter. Especially in Epic of Remnant and Cosmos in the Lostbelt where there are a lot of break bars and forced supports.
You can pull for douman, probably skip Gogh and save for castoria Oberon and koyanskya as those are the best servants in the game Edit: you don't really need Gogh for story reasons since you can just use support castoria/merlin to carry you through story and you should bond 10 heracles so he can truly unleash his potential
