I GOT HER AND INSTANTLY LEVEL HER UP UNTIL LVL.98! I'll be waiting for the grail at the end of the event to finish her to lvl.100. Goodluck again for thos who are rolling for Van Gogh!
That bond CE is insane. Most people never recommend or use bond CEs, but I like them for cost and team stackability with other bond CEs. This bond CE is a base Fragment of 2030 with extra Crit damage for three points less than the base Fragment of 2030. When combined with Existence Outside the Domain it's basically a MLB version. I think that's such a steal in team point composition and value.
It’s almost time! I will definitely be rolling on her banner when it drops! If she comes, she’ll be welcome with open arms! Good Luck to everyone who’s rolling for her!
I'm super surprised you didn't mention Douman. He's tailor made to be used with Van Gogh. For those who don't know, he can curse the enemy to help Van Gogh further increase her NP and can give her a 40% atk and 100% crit buff for 3 turns. If you're doing double Douman your looking at some crazy buffs
@@GAReviews, Wouldn't it make more sense to do both, Why not bring up the character that would work well with Van Gogh that's coming Literally after her, but then only bring it up when Ashiya Dōman out when she Already pass?
@@MsBlacknight21 Constraint issue, I only have room to mention so many supports so I try to stray away from mentioning supports who are not available yet or who are obvious (like Merlin/Hans/Waver etc...). I used to mention unreleased servants and people would get upset for "spoiling JP" and "mentioning servants that aren't in the game yet" etc... so this is the best work around.
I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention that extra bit of utility she has as a Foreigner/Existence Outside the Domain support. Her crit buff is pretty insane and enables other servants (like the Abbies, Koyan Dark) to hit insanely hard. True, her own effectiveness is her most striking feature, but her usefulness as a support could be stressed more.
@@ZackZeal Oh, I guess some servants doesn't have it as a trait then but as an ability. Good catch, I'm no JP player and in NA that kinds of skills are still uncommon.
Definitely rolling for Van Gogh, my favorite painter of all time. You can easily tell his art from its style alone. I really like the ascension art for the different stages, they are very Gogh-ish.
Remember: If you do get her you *MUST* protect her at all costs. I'm torn because Muramasa is near and I really need a looper vs me wanting another Foreigner (I love Foreigner servants)
Go for Van Gogh if you like her as her more. Muramasa is spectacular. But there's a lot of replacements for him. Same cannot be said of any one specific servant you love
As a Dutchie, the way you pronounced 'Het Gele Huis' was hilarious. I'm consistenly surprised by how hard Dutch words seem to be to pronounce for non natives.
Gogh got quite the competition, but I honestly feel like she's my favorite Foreigner so far. She got both a charmingly deranged personality (no really, her VA deserves an award for how disturbing she sounds at times) as well as an utterly broken kit that's both stronger and simpler than it looks. Moreover, her stocks rise with every new Foreigner released, so if you already got a decent number of them, you really can't go wrong with her. For example, one of my favorite "fun above functionality" setups is Summer BB, Gogh and Voyager. You get lots of stars combined with crit damage, excellent utility, NP charge, AoE damage with NPs as well as ST damage with crits. Sure, I may note always have a reason to belt it out, but I just love how three strong Servants can get even more insane together. Hope you won't have to wait for her rerun like I did!
I’ve been waiting for her for so long … I went to a Van Gogh exhibit last week and I’m building the Van Gogh Lego set so it’s safe to say I’m hyped. I’d love np5 but I need to steel my expectations 😂
Honestly, she looks good enough that you don't need a team comp. She has a guts, a hit of evade, a heal, and terror which can stun. I think she's got more than enough survivability in her kit plus insane damage to be a great soloer.
Would highly recommend adding summer bb to the list of recommended servants. Especially for rng dependent servants like her, BB's deck lock can really help her consistently loop. And for upcoming servants, very highly recommend adding Ashiya Douman. Double atk buff and 100% extra crit up. Though neither gogh or douman are really must pull servants by any means, but for anyone looking for a quick crit meme team, they can synergise really well.
Waifu and gameplay reasons only come second. The main reason I want Van Gogh to come home is because of that one Doctor Who episode. That never fails to bring tears to my eyes everytime I watch it.
Forgot to mention how great of a solo unit she is. passive healing, .5 damage from berserkers, capable of looping the best terror "skill" in the game. The only thing that would kill her is buff strip. I soloed Aphrodite with a friend's Gogh without any CC.
Shes one of the and arguably the most card agnostic dps in the entire game. She doesnt need a very specific type of support, in fact, every support is decent to great for her. From the limited support, castoria helps her np easier and provide her even more dense survivability. Merlin gives her another hard survivability andcover her only weakness, that is not having heal. Og skadi is arguably the weakest support for her, but she still offer battery, evade, and soft survivability. Summer skadi ramps up her damage through the roof. Even the budget support option is still great for her, hans, asclepius, and xu fu helps her np gain and they provide some sort of survivability for her and the team. Even someone like zhang jiao is also a decent support to buff her card damage and a rare debuff cleanse. This all is just from one side of her as a dps, she also has a great kit to support the team and its not an exaggeration to say that shes truly a jack of all trade
Yeah The one to truly be free of the "Jack-of-all-trades Curse" of FGO. She doesn't feel like previous JOAT that tried so many things that in the end had little value
Thank you very much for the spotlight! Love this card and the art on it so much that I pulled for her without even knowing what her kit is so this video really help! Her playstyle seems really interesting so I can't wait to finish leveling her up and try her out!
I think there are a couple things missing here that are important/fun about her. While team comp is important, I don't think that saying she's for quick teams is doing justice. Gogh is often used as the secondary support in buster and arts teams all the time. In fact, I would say as a crit support on quick teams her value is diminished because both Skadi's provide quite a lot of crit buffs to quick teams. Gogh with a Demonic Bodhisattva can supply the main dps with effectively 100% crit, and 90% attack up with her skills active. That is an insane amount of buffs from a single servant. Very useful in buster and arts teams. In fact in arts teams she is a consistent source of crit damage which arts teams normally lack greatly. I recently did a run of the Super Recollection quest of the Cherished beast, and Van Gogh is the only one that made it possible for Melusine to be able to crit enough to take it out in 4 turns. Second, A bit shocked not to see a mention of her ability to solo. Because of her NP applying fear, that fear being able to stack, the availability of healing CC, her evade, guts, heal, and massive stacking damage, she is one of the better servants to have either front a solo or be in the backline for if things go terribly wrong. She can stall out fights with her constant stuns while after a turn or two being able to with a QBA chain do massive damage and restore a ton of NP.
I actually did have a section talking about her solo and a solo fight to showcase it, but I ended up cutting it because the video dragged too long and I don't usually focus on solo content. I think to her credit Van Gogh just does SO MUCH and has so many different uses that it was impossible for me to go over everything without making this a 20+ min video lol.
A bit late, but got Gogh from our 2023 GSSR. Not my first choice, but also far from my last. She's definitely a little harder to play with, but she is fun!
Thanks for the video buddy, I desperately needed it, since I managed to get her to np2, all thanks to the painting on the wall that I made of "a starry night". I think she knew about it and I ended up using it as a catalyst lmao and so she decided to come home. Keep up the great videos mate and take care :3
Van Gogh seems very interesting. I can't help wonder what my painting teacher would think of this version of Van Gogh and just how accurate her design is Van Gogh and his paintings though.
Here's a wack idea, van goh voyager and waver. Waver curses on np, voyager gives party battery on np with high np gain and gives more charge to waver since he's a pseudo servant and goh gives voyager more crit damage. There's enough quick cards to gen stars and when his buff comes to na voyager will also give someone quick up besides his own self 20%
she's my fave crit monster and my LB5 & LB6 mvp. Its crazy and I only have her in NP1 - something I just randomly rolled cause I want to try getting a new servant. She's one of the most fun servant I've had and totally unexpected at that.
Ahhh here comes my last servant I'm rolling for THIS year. As in January, I'll be rolling for Muramasa. I've been on the fence for Van Gogh for the last few months but no longer! I will be rolling for her because holy fuck she's so cool looking
Fantastic review! Tbh Himeko wiped out a lot of my stash but I got lucky only having to spend 300! I hadn't actually heard her before but the moment she started talking I was overjoyed! I had no idea Karin Takahashi voiced a character in fgo and nonetheless a cutie like Van Gogh! needless to say she is an instant grail to 100.
I love Gogh, sadly I am dry on orbs and I think rng will screw with me when trying to summon for her. I fell in love with her after hearing her voice lines. The actress is a fricken talent for brining that much personality to the character.
Honestly she is the best foreigner without question. She stands head and shoulders over the rest, even Yang and Koyan of dark. I'd say this is just my opinion but that would be incorrect, this is just a factual statement As for her passive that prevents her from dying to curse, I believe thats meant to help her solo potential. If she is at 1 hp from curse and has her guts up, the enemy will trigger her guts and then stop attacking. Basically it helps her guts remain useful since it cant be triggered by the curse dmg
Good luck to everyone rolling for her. I found her one of the most complex and cooler servants lorewise. Just not the one I want at my Chaldea right now. So fellas, please give her some love
Just a side note, Van Gogh's 3rd skill's curse absorb and ATK up per curse removal actually only applies to herself for whatever reason, the star absorb and ATK up apply to the ally. Van Gogh is an excellent, if somewhat unorthodox unit though, she has an incredible amount of survivability, is unfazed by zerkers and works beautifully with Summer BB and most Foreigners who don't mind using their face cards for crits (with starts she basically sneezes out every turn). It says much when her best ally... is herself, two Van Goghs snowball incredibly hard as the fight goes and it's very hard to bring them down, pair them with whatever Foreigner and everyone will just shred through fights with ease.
I'm ready. I've got my grails, EXP, fous, gold fous, and command codes ready for her. Also have all the mats and QP to 10/10/10 both regular and append skills. I'm going for NP6, and I'm not stopping till my precious Gogh-chan is the best she can be.
i saw how crazy she is in the story, so i had to roll for her no matter what. Thanks for the analysis, i can't start using a servant without watching these lmao
First, there is a bit of mistake in this spotlight. Third skill's on attack buff is a _self_ buff. Even if Van Gogh targets other servant, she still gets this buff and it crucial for her - after juicing up with curses and having triple quick deck she can up her own attack and get rid of old curses before juicing up again very easily. Second, "she suffers from bad card RNG and requires optimal team comp and conditions to work properly". ...Just use her solo. And that's it. I honestly surprised that even after mentioning Super Orion there was nothing said about Van Gogh's solo potential. Because of her easily spammable NP in solo, which give her stacks of insane crits and stars per turn, and upping her attack with self-buff from third skill, Van Gogh can solo bosses even with neutral damage. Also because her NP is pretty spammable in solo, she have a good chance to stunlock bosses or, at worst, it just help her survive.
She can be used well in solo, especially since we have mighty chains now. But unlike Orion I still think she works better in teams, mostly because of being able to absorb curses from allies
she is so incredible in solo , her terror because absurd in those . Just watch that one Myst video of her against Herakles , she stun him for like 4 turn in a row , and Myst wasn't even using her optimally (pretty much his first try with her so nothing surprising )
I think you underrated Gogh a bit. Gogh fits many roles from main DPS to main support to solo DPS and she's very strong at all of them. As a main DPS you can run double Gogh as the main core and add a third DPS for more consistency or a support to counter certain gimmicks it's very versatile. As a support she fits perfectly with foreigner since they get s ludicrous 150% crit buff from the np. As a solo Artist she can hang up with the best of them while most of them struggle against Zerks she actually claps them even harder so there's that normally tho she's able to stun lock the enemy for several turns like kama while also having guts and harp of healing it's a large amount of sustain with very consistent dps. If you are brave enough she can even help you farm 90+ nodes a team of double Gogh+lancer can farm the archer node in Nerofest with ludicrous speeds and consistency. I'd given her an A+ maybe even an S in versitility.
Gogh is the target of opportunity I'm looking at after rolling for the usual suspects during lostbelt 6 and Ani 6. Her ability to buff the team, tear apart berserker bosses and work as an anchor/last man make her one of the best challenge quest units. Similar to Emiya as a simultaneous star bomber, AoE and crit DPS, she is a jack of all traits that is also a near master of them all.
As someone who's been pretty blessed by Foreigner Servants (I got all of the current ones in NA save for Yang Guifei), I'm definitely rolling for Gogh. She looks fun, and might work well with Voyager for Quick memes. Granted, I don't have Yang, and her next banner is further away than Gogh's next one, so she takes priority.
Would Hans and/or Wu work out for team setups for Van Gogh? I don't have Skadi or Osakabehime on my NA account yet, and I know some people recommend Hans as a crit support for Summer BB if you use her as a DPS, so I wanted to see what other people had to say about this
shes one of the most flexible dps in the game, even the most budget support pick will be good if not great for her. i would come far to say skadi and hime are some of the worst 5* support choice you could use to support her
Van Gogh works in pretty much any team comp, so yes. Hans works exceptionally well because he can help Van Gogh get her NP more consistently, which is what you always want.
I'll be honest here. I've been going back and forth on if I should get Van Gogh because I'm trying to save for the lb6 servants. I kept debating if she fit my play style, and if it was worth risking all the quartz I've collected until now. Then I watched what happened when you give soup to a pair of idiots. After calming down (and watching the Doctor Who episode about Van Gogh) I decided to say 'screw it'. I'm going for Van Gogh out of respect and admiration for one of the greatest painters to ever exist.
I originally wasn't going to bother rolling for Van Gogh until I saw her placement on the GamePress Tier List. I got super lucky in the sense that I summoned 2 copies of this servant. I'm betting that having a Level 2 NP charge for Van Gogh would be useful.
Even though my Van Gogh is pretty scuffed with low skills, using her and the story support in the Imaginary Scramble event in double Gogh gives ludicrous crit buffs. MLB Like a bird + two VG NPs + Skadi quick crit buff gives what? Like 400% quick crit buff? Right up there with Orion. Not to mention you can just swap all the curses between them (thus NP charging via skill 1) if you time the skills right.
I'm definitely rolling for best Foreigner. I think she's ridiculously strong and fun to use. She invalidated a lot of CQs and Lostbelts for my JP account.
The way you pronounce "het gele huis" is funny to me. In dutch, the G sounds like that sound you make when you are building up saliva to spit at someone. So you pronounce it something along the lines of "het [spit noise]eyleh hous"
I pray that the RNG gods bless me with continued to good luck since I'll be rolling for Gogh and Yang. I don't have a foreigner yet and I'm currently sitting at 12 tickets and 471 quartz. I've had amazing luck with recent banners (having gotten Jalter and himiko off of tickets)
I honestly wasn't expecting to like Van Gogh as much as I do; at first I thought that she was creepy and that she wasn't going to be a Servant that I'd Roll for, but that all changed when it came to the Imaginary Scramble Event Storyline!!!! After going through it all, I just want to give her So Many Headpats that it's not even funny, and she deserves them all!!! lol. ^_^ So yeah... I'm Really Upset that I couldn't get her... T.T
I wish everyone luck I'd they're drawing for Gogh! As a side note, I'm only on Gotterdamrung foe the story, but my main aim is Nemo because I love his design even if he's not able to optimally use his NP 90% of the time (like a certain demon king that I have until Olympus). Plus when I saw his glasses sprite on the wikis, I knew I had to try for him. But hey if I happen to either get Gogh as well or only get Gogh, I guess I can't be too upset.
I love the analysis as always. The only thing that irks me is when you cal her Gogh and not van Gogh. Its like saying Donald when the name is Mcdonald. Hahaha
I used her as a crit support in a crit team. Always helpful to have Lancelot deal 100k on a neutral enemy. When Lancelot is down, Gogh could carry too.
I've been obsessed with van gogh for months. And it's funny to me cause at first I didn't care for her cause I was turned off via her cursing herself. But when I actually started reading into her skills, her playstyle became my absolute favorites
thank you for your video. I was always wondering, why van Gogh was so strong. And thanks to your explaining I understand now. At first I wanted to skip her, but now I will spend 120 SQ on her. Since Super Orion just didn't want to come to my Caldea, maybe I can substitute him with van Gogh :D
Would a can of tomato soup work as a catalyst to summon Van Gogh? On a serious note, I wasn't able to roll for her because I was aiming for MHXX, as it's her last banner for the forseeable future. (Thank goodness I got XX.)
I just rolled for her I only had 60 SQ and decided fuck it let's roll for van Gogh. 1st 30sq got me really bad low roll. Next one though just used up my luck for the rest of the year I got 2 copies of her.
This will be my first time saving up for a servant. i have got 150 sq and 13 tickets, not that much but i hope he comes to my chaldea. Hope you have good luck.
Considering that her skill descriptions give my small brain a headache, I'm gonna just keep sticking to my strategy of DPS Servant/Himiko/Merlin, click red card big damage.
Tempting to roll for her, but I don't have enough SQ to make a serious attempt and after getting Himiko so easily, I probably used up all my good luck for the year.
I have a knack for collecting depressed servants so I can be a good master to them and be depressed together. Fujino is waiting to come home us with Van
