That's the problem with the EuroNCAP ratings. Someone, who doesn't know the changes of the ratings, might think that an older car is safer than a new one. They should probably have two different sets of the stars. One for the passive and second for the overall (so also the active crash avoidance systems included).
Crash Testing like this is stupid. No one cares for pedestrian safety or electronic nannies. This car performed amazing! Carwow did a much better test this week
@alex gaming i have had an Abarth 595 and I now have the mini JCW. The Mini is better built and feels like a step up and like a small luxury car the Abarth fiat felt like a cheap car inside imo!
Because these cars have to drive in the real world where drivers only have to pass the minimal safe standard of driving to go on the road, and then you have nature, with its weather, trees and plants and there is all the animals running out in front of you. And that is why cars have to be made safer.
Crusard Modding Why not make all of these? Even if we make roads safer and better drivers, doesn't mean crashes are going to stop happening, yes they may slow down, maybe even dramatically. Buuut. There's still gonna be a need for more improvements on crash safety. :)
cause its easier to make safer cars then try to make the billions of humans on earth better drivers.. try just making just one of your family members a better driver, they are too stubborn to take your advice. Now imagine trying to do that with billions of people.. not gonna happen.
Cost an lack of creativity, Roads should have more lights at night and some sort of dividers concrete or otherwise in dangerous no pass areas like blind hills on with a lot better signage
@Donovan Campbell No, it's poor structuraly and would get 4 star with a. Safety. Look at dumy readings on the website, in the full with crash rear passengers are very survier and front passengers aren't that great either
Jaymate didn't this car get a passive rating of 5 stars, cuz I'm pretty sure it did. no, it doesn't have city pedestrian braking, lane assist, … or all these features, but you should know how to drive if you have a license, especially if it's a car as small as this. with these smaller cars becoming so popular in Europe, I'm pretty sure they made them very safe for the European markets.
@@YellowMCG its good, my Fiat 500 is the cheapest one and is a good car for the city, i did some travels and It isn't very bad at all. Good space, i also have a mini Cooper with four Doors and the Fiat feels more spacious. If you wont more opinions Talk to me. Im spanish so my english It isn't very good 🤣🤣
I recently got hit by a truck head on at 50 mph. Front of my Fiat was crushed like a can. Broken clavicle, ankle, and 10 stitches in my left arm..but I’m alive.
To anyone thinking about buying a 500 1: check the brake discs for corrosion and make sure that they don't squeak 2: go for one with air con or climate control as the base heater mostly found on the pop trim does nothing 3: avoid the automatic transmission as it's slow to change gear and jerky at lower speeds 4: don't go for the cheapest 500 you can find. As it won't be properly maintained and can have loads of dents and dings of the doors and bumpers 5: ideally go for one with alloy wheels as the Hub caps can can get scraped very easy and can sometimes come loose I know about these problems as my mum had a 2015 500 pop untill 2019 and she spent extra money for alloys
i had a collision in one of these and i must say its a very sturdy car. i was hit by a SUV on the passenger side that was going 50mph and my car destroyed the entire front of the other drivers car. mines had some damage to the passenger side and wheel but didnt come close to my side at all.
Someone please tell me why this got 3 stars, and the Panda, with the same dimensions, chassis, and presumably the same seatbelt pretensioners, airbag location etc. 0 stars?

Killamain cam it is a really cool car. Stylish and mine is pretty reliable. 9 years old and had no any problem with this little retro car. - I don't know maybe I am just lucky 😉 but I really like it. Nice car. Mine only has 69hp not a racecar but OK. Fuel consumption is excellent. I am satisfied with it :) - next time I will upgrade to another 500 thats for sure just with stronger engine and maybe a bigger version. I heard another 5 door version is coming this year or next 😋
The reason why 3 stars: Seat belts did react to late, rear passenger airbags didnt work like they should, no automatic emergency brake system, pedestrian protection could be better
Everyone saying "not bad" obviously will be speaking a different tune if they're ever in a crash with some dickweed motherfucker in a jacked up F-150 pickup in this thing.
The smart doesn't get 5 stars. It gets 4 and the difference is mostly because the 500 has rear passengers too which are not protected very well, bringing down the overall star rating, and it doesn't have ESC. The "cheap in quality" argument is just a stereotype, get your facts straight people.
