Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of FIAT 500e 2021

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

This is crazy impressive. I drove this as a rental in Spain recently and was slightly worried on the motorway. Clearly i had nothing to fear. Car safety has come a long way

How about a far side impact ?No dummy in other front seat cuz side curtain airbag fails to deploy and a real person in the seat is left to hit head on side window and hard plastic above the door resulting in massive head injuries and death. My 19 year old daughter was killed in a side impact crash on the opposite side to where she was driving in a SHIT HEAP FIAT 500. DVSA and Fiat are aware of the airbag fault in the UK cars but fail to issue a recall and a huge amount of deaths have happened in the last 3 years. DO NOT EVER BUY YOUR KIDS A Fiat 500 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@@aes30006 no, it is not. It is actually decently safe. You are ignoring how much test standards have gone up and how much of it depends on electronic driving aids, not structural safety and the ability to resist a crash.

They gave it 6 from 13 points because the car does not have built in Childrenseats. That is crazy if you want to drive with children you use special protection seats. But do not downgrade the car because of this!

@@benanderson89 well, I’ve lost two of my best friends in car crashes, both driving small city cars, I was hit by a Ford pickup truck two years ago in my Q5 and yes the car was in the shop for a month but I made it safe and sound. Small cars aren’t the same you can’t convince me. ( All of the accidents had as a point of impact the front left wheel don’t ask me why.

@@benanderson89 Yes, but European SUV would usually fit on a flatbed of an American pickup. You could quite easily park 4 Fiat 500's in a standard American parking spot. Cool little run around for a city like Paris, London or Rome and so on. And finally they made it safer.

Testers have installed straps on passengers doors to avoid door opening during crash. Google Fiat 500 Crash - select images then look for the Fiat 500 forum picture of the massive damage to the blue Fiat 500 2014 plate, my daughter was killed in this crash. Was a side impact by a Citroen Nemo small van doing 38mph. These cars are not safe in a side impact as the seat belt pretensioner and side curtain airbag failed to deploy according to the airbag computer download and Police report.

@@ambergris5705 Yeah its no longer about crash safety but the moronic computers the cars are fittede with. Crash safety on any car is already very high and that applies to any car less than 10 years old and even most cars 20 years or newer are relatively safe to crash. The new crash test system is bullshit. The crash safety and collision avoidance systems should carry seperate ratings.

The Fiat 500 looks nice, but come on, 30k for such a car really doesn't make sense! Inside it's all hard plastic!!! If and when such cars start to cost around 10-15k max, then I'd consider.

I don't know if this video is suppose to make Fiat look good or bad. I still wouldn't buy a Fiat. Not unless they also fix the reliability issue. I recently said goodbye to my 2015 500 Abarth. Only 50K miles and was nothing but issue after issue. Never trusting Fiat again.
