You can get the electric park brake to automatically engage when stopped and automatically disengage when moving off .. it's in the settings accessed via the UConnect system. Also many people don't use the speedometer to the left .. use the buttons on the left hand side of the steering wheel to display a large digital speedo in the central dial. Works just fine.
I own a 500x and I love it. In my opinion it’s one of the best looking crossover on sale today (no exaggeration). The Alfa Stelvio is the only one I would put in the same league in terms of looks. In the same range I also like the 2008 and the renegade. The Mazda (in my opinion) is a little to bland, to “grey”, no emotion. Of course each one likes what each one likes.
500X definitely over the CX-5. Sorry but japanese cars just are not emotional enough. And when it comes to italian cars, the emotion is very important part of the buying experience for many people (like recent Alfa's).
Where I live you can get one decently equped for 15000 while most competitors start at 20 or more so it's definitely a great offer and it looks just so good inside and out.
I would buy this over the Mazda at any time... However,I got myself a Peugeot 2008 diesel and I reckon it's one of the best looking B segment crossovers out there, with good engines and posh interior. Others might disagree, but that's just a matter of opinion ;) Great review, Marek!!!
If you want comfort and practicality for Peugeot 308 SW. B-crossovers are neither particularly comfortable, nor practical. You buy them for the looks, and turn a blind eye to all their faults. Out of the three you mentioned I'd probably go with the Captur, because it looks cool, and is probably the cheapest.
Thanks Marek. I knew I could rely on you for an honest and impartial reply. Currently enjoying your canadian adventures, you make a great double act together😁
Great presentation and review, kind of like your style with that sarcasm and all. Unfortunately here in in the US the Fiat is not represented well and basically Korean and Japanese cars sell the largest quantities while the Italian automaker is considered a junk brand!
He should review his own body weight and health first before bullying the car 6:43 Iol with his beer belly he should thank Fiat for giving it a flat bottom steering wheel
Nice review. However I think that Italian cars are only for fans even more than French. I hope to see one day Marek's hands on our new Lada X-Ray. Even if it is made by Renault, Lada still has an internal spirit of Fiat from 1970-s. ))
why can't car makers build cars with normal manual handbrakes and real keys with ignition barrels. I hate that push button rubbish and auto electronic handbrakes, half the time, they don't even work!!! great video though marek
+No Yes? I'm not a fan of electric parking brakes either, but they make more sense with modern safety systems, like collision mitigation/emergency auto-brake, and such. Also in some countries, you are legally required to engage parking brake, while standing at the lights. In case of electric parking brake there is usually auto-parking brake mode, which will engage/disengage the brake for you. It's convenient. Electric parking brakes also use up less space on the centre console.
up to now I liked the 500x from the outside but since yesterday I' m driving this diesel version as a rental car and it's horrible (if you consider the price), all the points you criticise I can confirm, the engine sounds horrible rough and loud, the car feels heavy and I add two things: the high sitting position (usually nice in a car) is somehow I feel uncomfortable in the car AND I have manually gearbox: terrible, the clutch pedal goes tough, the 2nd gear always feels like "not in" already, the 3rd needs two tries to get it... (my 9 year old fabia is 1000 times better). I' m dirving with that fiat now the first time in my life a lane assist and switched it of after 30 minutes, it's annoying if the steering wheel constantly is steering against my will, I even had a slightly dangerous maneuver when I was steering against the will of the car, it kind of jumped then in that direction when it stopped to steer in the opposite direction like me and then my directed steering was too much... (in my car it' s rather too much assisting then too little). Anyway, I'm doupting: what are all the assisting systems for: if I'm constantly feeling in my hands "oh, where is that pulling the steering wheel to? ...do I want this correction?" ...so if I'm busy always with that, then I simply can constantly mind the lines on the road and drive normally and when I'm tired, I have a break and a coffee and so I don't need a brainless computer steering somewhere around. I'm happy to give this car back in 3 days.
update: after a couple of days I got used a bit/quite with the criticised points, they are sure not great but not so terrible as it seemed at the first impressions. So far ...to be honest.
Awful review Just awful Marek If you hate FIAT, which you may than dont review the car This much bulshitting from your side is too much Definitely after this review I would never choose MAZDA CX 3
Amazing review, i own a Fiat 500x and agree 99.9% with this. I am heavy driver, and besides the way it lools, this car is ways back to mini cpuntryman, bmw X1 or Mazda cx3. To be honesc cannoy even compare, technically..
Stoqn Petrov In the front, maybe. But if you are 190 and driving, the back seats are useless. Even if you are 180, nobody will fit in the back. But if that's the case, why bother having back seats? I just don't see the point.
+ast5515 Isnt it the same in the mazda , I really like the CX3 but based on Mazda 2 it is way small inside , even my Alfa 147 is having more space inside , and dont get me wrong I like the mazda and was there to consider if I want to buy one , 500x is more ugly but more practical and spacious....
