This video is about driving Fiat 600 Multipla - accompanying a Bring a Trailer auction. This Multipla was restored and owned by renowned Alfa Romeo restoration expert Conrad Stevenson. bringatrailer.com/listing/196...
I bought a 67 Fiat two-door sedan that had rust issues really bad, so I cut the sides out of an abandoned refrigerator and shaped them so I could screw them to the rocker panels and the backbone tunnel. I cut splits in the floor so I could thread a hose clamp through the splits, around a piece of half-inch plumbing pipe underneath each floor and around each seat runner. it was a cheap repair but it did what it had to do. Fun little car! That was in about 79 or 80
ZA CZASÓW MOJEJ MŁODOŚCI WIDYWAŁEM TO CUDO NA ULICACH MIASTA W KTÓRYM MIESZKAŁEM. BYŁ JEDEN EGZEMPLARZ, W TAKIM SAMYM KOLORZE JAK NA ZDJĘCIU. WŁAŚCICIELEM BYŁ MIEJSCOWY WRTERYNARZ , PÓŹNIEJ JESZCZE DWÓCH NOTABLI WESZŁO W POSIADANIE TAKOWYCH. WG MNIE BARDZO FAJNE AUTKO, TROCHĘ DZIWOLĄG, ALE SYMPATYCZNE.
She's a sprightly little bugger for her age...! I'd love one of these but would want to stick a smart brabus motor in there, for these steep Yorkshire hills 😀
I know that a lot of people behave similar. But please don't let rest your left foot on the clutch pedal! 😱 It will kill your clutch (especially the release bearing ) slowly but surely. Best regards luck and health to all involved people.
Used to a see few of these here in Australia but I never looked inside. That spare tyre would make a great airbag. And who needs a whopping great gas guzzling wagon when you could fit the whole family in for a camping trip.Btw I still have a Corgi/Dinky model that’s pretty beat up from my youth.I might restore it to this lovely colours of the featured car.
Still have my model Multipla too! They were actually made by Tri-ang in their Spot-On range and the original colour of mine was midway between the two blue shades of the restored example in the video. Very rare to have seen these in England although they did sell quite a few in the Irish Republic where Fiat had a local assembly operation.
Interesting to see the complete restoration. I was also fascinated by the Unit which sits on top of the Carburettor. It looks like like a Motor / Blower to give some forced-air induction. But does it work well? It hardly matters that the restoration is not faithful to the original design, because the alternative may have been a Car Scrapyard to simply 'rust in piece'. Greetings from Australia.
I had the Fiat 900T, the follower of the Multipla, same dashboard, same spare tire inside and camper interior. So fun, but rust killed it. Although today, I would say I should have repaired it, because prices are high. T his Multiple seems to have a 900 air cooled engine -mine was a 900 water cooled one. Did they build two types?
Beautiful restauration but people must at last understand that the value of these vehicles lies in their classic vintage NOT speed and performance characteristics. Like the greater part of this video is spent on trying to show how fast the car can go and take corners and there is proud mention of the engine upgrade to give it "more punch". The announced other video detailing relevant features of the vehicle sounds more promising.
The old Multipla looks like a million times more pretty than the modern multipla. The old one is well designed, the new one seems like a aprils fool joke that made it to production.
I owned a 600 sedan, and now an 850 sport coupe, great cars, and yours look stunning. Now the 600 engine runs clockwise, and the 850 engine anticlockwise, I'm curious to know how this was solved when swapping engines in this Multipla.
It is quite easy job,u need a custom made crankshaft placed reversed from the original configuration.Don't ask me further details, but the idea is pretty much that
The only thing about this car is in a head on collision 💥 with another front engined car it wouldn't come off well. But otherwise interesting design. I live in New Zealand and I remember back in the 1960s thses cars here on our roads. There weren't many though. The Fiat 500 Bambina were more popular.
Vi siete divertiti a guidarla, eh?!?
Ormai l ambiente delle auto storiche è tutta gioielleria
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!!!
Typical american "restoration", aiming only at external beauty and caring nothing about originality. "Restore" means "put it back to original state". If you put a different engine it's NOT a restoration. And, as another expert Italian said, it also has the wrong engine lid from a later 600D.
