Check the connectors under the seat. Considering that your passenger's ignition is on, check the connections on the passenger's seat (they usually have problems with connectors and moisture). Clean the contacts, inspect the wires and connections. Before buying an ECU, look at the exact errors it throws up on the tester.

Thanks for the reply. I have previously checked the connections under the plastic cover underneath the driver and passenger seat. I unplugged them and plugged them back in and checked for any damage but it all looked good. I checked with an OBD reader however it could not detect the errors. I took it to a garage and they couldn’t determine the codes either. I’m considering buying a replacement ECU on eBay as they are only £15. But do you know is it a straight swap? Or does the new ecu need programming? Is it safe to disconnect the airbag ecu during replacement?

@@jordanmoore4159 The problem with things you buy online is that you can't know if they're good or bad. Honestly, I've never bought things like that on line, because if something goes wrong, there's a chance you'll do more harm than good. My recommendation is to leave it to someone who knows what they are doing. And as far as the ecu is concerned, there are 2 versions, one is plug and play and the other needs to be programmed (they have the vin number in them) depending on the model and year of manufacture. Even before changing the ecu, someone should check the presence sensor in the passenger's seat. It can also cause problems, especially after deep cleaning of the seat, if the car has been recently cleaned or some liquid has been spilled on the seat itself. If we were closer, I would help you personally, but online like this, it's an impossible mission. Try to find someone in your city who deals exclusively with such things and leave it to him to solve it for you. In any case, leave that repair to someone who knows what they're doing.
