Hi Dekon06 ! Nice work ! I'm about to do the same for my X. Would you help me ? :)My 130TC engine is openned and components will be renewed soon. After that, swap engine !
It's hard to swap a Lampredi Dohc engine in a stock X1/9? I would to suit a 1.6 Dohc engine from Lancia Prisma donor car in a baby Fiat. What type of modification is necessary to fix It? Thanks.
It always depends on how much time / money / effort / skill / you are prepared to invest. There are two Lampredi production engines with iron blocks - the small block is the SOHC, the big block is the DOHC. However, later variants of the small block, also have DOHC eg Fiat Marea. The best option imo is to find an early Fiat Tipo 1600 8V SOHC, because the block internally has a modified oil gallery which allows the capacity to be increased to nearly 2 litres. Externally the block is the same as the X1/9 and it fits the X1/9 engine mounts. This will save a lot of time and money, compared to using the big block as in the 125 TC Abarth in the video. If you do a proper job and fit programmable injection and ITB's, it will be good for 200bhp at 7500rpm. Small block, 2-litre, naturally aspirated, 8V SOHC, 200bhp... it's been done here - Gordon Fogarty / RMS Motoring Forum / Members Cars
