So after many years of selling fiber optic cleavers, cable and connectors I've decided to do a video on the most popular issue that arises when you begin terminating your own connectors. Questions please comment below, I'll try to answer you in a timely fashion. Baba booey.

Thank you for this video! I am so happy I watched it ! It was Super Helpful and it was exactly the reason why i could not cut it with the fiber cleaver after multiple attempts. I wish they mention something about it in the instructions to the cleaver

Very helpful video. I couldn’t figure out why my brand new cleaver wasn’t cutting. Didn’t realize there was a layer still to take off. Brand new to fiber work 😅

Thanks DLV Guy, this is actually a nuff said, short and sweet educational video that anyone should be able to walk away filling better about getting a quality prep on the glass. And the Mr.Rogers tone takes away the frustration associated fiber.

Ya, I forgot to strip the coating. I'm a lowly rookie for sure Totally appreciate your excellent explanation. Solved my problem. Thanks man. Your public service is awesome! 👍

This totally solved my issue. Using the guides to mark the cables first and then making sure it goes in far enough. Thanks Mercy for the great video and all your help!!!

Excellent Video....yes, a noobe here just purchased a cleaver and tried to prep the fiber. Tried several times and the fiber would not fit properly in the new connector. Then I came on to your video....repeated your steps and worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip!

Great advice.... I'm not new to fiber but have been outta the technical for some time. Never occurred to me that the cladding of tight buffer would prevent cleaving.🎉🎉🎉

So you mean some people don't know that after you strip the 900um there is another jacket, this is 250um and after you strip that there is your bare fiber... 125um?

My question exactly! He explained something that I find concerning to think somebody doesn't know& are actually handling fiber...

My ribbon cleave is giving me issues and it seams to be with different brands of fiber ribbon. Place in the heater pull off jacket , clean with alcohol , place in cleave, and may have one or 2 strands that didn’t cut.

What if the cleaver cuts OK but when you put it in the fusion splicer the microscope camera shows it looks like its been done with a hacksaw?

What's the part number on the cleaver you're using? And are you working with Singlemode?
@EjirogheneGbenedio
@EjirogheneGbenedio 4 года назад
@@DiscountLowVoltage if it is Singlemode is there any special application needed to avoid those rough edges seen in the camera?

Lower the blade till it no longer cuts and then raise it litlle by little till it cleaves again. If your cleaver cuts you see shattered fiber, it should only barely mark the fiber while the hammer does the rest.
@danbriars2141
@danbriars2141 Год назад
If it’s giving you a bad cleave then try rotating the blade to a part that hasn’t been used yet. If that fails then try adjusting the height of the blade. Always make sure the fibre is stripped correctly and cleaned before placing it in the cleaver. Placing dirty fibre in the cleaver will only make the cleaver dirty and then cause bad cleaves again

Hi! Worked for me but looks like the fiber became too fragile and when I try to connect to the fast connector it breaks or if I try to use less strength, the fiber loose.

? It sounds like your using some amazon tools. If you bought from us? What's an order number so we can take good care of you. We're a bit burnt out of helping people with AFL connectors but cheap tools.

Question for anyone reading, if i set my splicer settings for OM4 (50/125 macarons) in automatic, does it actually make any difference if set to 50/125 over automatic? Going to try it tomorrow but wondering if anyone knew the details.

You don’t remove the clad. You remove the coat. The clad is what traps the light in the core and is not removable

If your not stripping the fiber properly and didn’t learn so this may not be the job for you.
