The vent rib is not “angling back toward the receiver” or dropping lower closer to the receiver. The barrel is actually larger where the shells chamber in so the mounting pieces on the rib are shorter. It is flat and even throughout the length of the barrel
I had this question as well, called Williams customer service and they confirmed. He said in general 6-8" in front of reciever. So far I'm impressed with fit and finish, Turkey opener in less than 2 weeks.
*As age increases or vision grows poor.... SOME of the older guys shoot better with the sights closer together. IF you experience poor results... with the sights far apart... try moving them closer together.... LONG sight radius can be awesome if you can focus or see to use them... SHORTER sight radius sometimes actually works better. MOVING the front sight a couple or four inches away from the muzzle can protect that sight when leaning the muzzle end of a barrel against a tree. PRACTICALITY, is sometimes more important than appearance.*
