I recommend watching at some speed greater than 1.25x!
This was going to be split into 2 parts, given the length, but then I thought; not like y'all have the attention span even if it were 20 seconds ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fidchell likes to stall the fight by speaking (like a politician)
Disclaimer: Please Try Your Best NOT to Imitate This! I am quite dumb for thinking this would work... and yet I won? But at what cost?!
Kite and BlackRose are both level 47. Weapons/Items/Stats are shown in the first few seconds. Enjoy ^.^
Common things to remember:
1) Fidchell is the boss that Innis COULD'VE been, but I'm sorry you had to see me bully a Phase like that. Basically, if you fight Fidchell within the normal level range, chances are it'll put up a decent fight but it's not quite special enough to remember. So here's where I come in and show you that, if you didn't struggle against Fidchell, you're a filthy casual gamer!
2) Fidchell uses Light, Earth, Water and Fire (I thought it had Wood element, because that would've made more sense, but then again it would've made the fight 0.25x easier? since I still had the gear from the Magus fight?)
In the first phase, Fidchell is one of those RPG type bosses that uses a debuff before doing massive damage. It's second phase however, makes it so that it no longer cares about the debuff and just goes ultra mage mode! Basically, it remains consistent throughout the fight, so all you have to do is match that consistency and you won't immediately lose.
3) White Mages DON'T EXIST! People fight this battle with Elk/Wiseman because of their back and forth magical ability, as well as not wanting to play the role of healer/support. But everything "healing" can be substituted with items (items take a LOT less time than spellcasting.) And with each party member able to hold 99 items, all Elk/Wiseman do is give Magus an easy target to kill. Also, if you don't WANT to play support, you can always unequip any armor that has healing spells from your teammates and gift them about 30 or so healing potions. (They spam it without hesitation and do it so effectively that Kingdom Heart 1's Dolan would never recover)
THE FACT THAT I HAD TO BASICALLY COPY/PASTE THIS FROM MY SKEITH VIDEO IS SAD. Wavemasters aren't useless! They're just too damn liable against the hard-hitting bosses. Not to mention, I let BlackRose play healer and she PROVED my point to a letter!
4) Fidchell will kill you. Plain and simple. Unless you're a casual gamer who leveled 52+. Then again, New game does start you at level 50, so you'll probably never experience this pain.
Healing potions are necessary, try for about 25 per person. Resurrects, Antidotes and Restoratives are also needed in quantities of 15/40/40 per person.
Post Data Drain, Fidchell straight up made me want to quit. It enjoys running away and casting Ol Repth, but will follow a suit of, slamming the ground, casting a slow, paralysis, or sleep spell, and then casting Level 3 splash spells that hit 3 times, which Kite only survived by pure luck. Best course of action is to split party members in a pincer formation, so either your party dies, or you do.
Post 12 minutes... my dynamic does change from strategist to something along the lines of social distancing, since I noticed we didn't reach 2nd form yet and Fidchell was basically exhausting us of all our resources.
I sorta gave up on buffing BlackRose after the second part as she was getting targeted relentlessly. But she continues to prove my point that White Mages DON'T EXIST!
I'm also used to going down to 1 hp/sp after Data Drain... This was a nice change of pace that made me take a deep breath.
5) Strengthen/Buff skills are NECESSARY!!! All Phys attributes, Magic Defense, Fire, Water, Light and Earth Up! Magic Defense actually is the PRIMARY attribute for reducing damage, followed by the element number. If you've watched my vids, I have PURPOSELY shown bad gameplay moments to EMPHASIZE this. I'm pretty sure 98% of you didn't get that...
I ALMOST considered using a speed charm... but then I remembered, "If you use Ap Do /Speed Charms, it is a waste of time/money and does NOT contribute anything to the battle aside from making you think you're moving/hitting faster (unless your a speedrunner)!"
Strong offense is ALWAYS better than a strong defense!
Once you have around 900~ health average, you can start "surviving" it's second form.
