I think I was telling you yesterday, or maybe at the NIMM meet? that parts pricing and availability of support were the big kicker for me over an R3 as my first car. I wish you well with "Oscar," (you are more than welcome to rename it). Chris and I are more than happy that he has gone to a good home as the other alternative was scrapping it as we didn't have time or space to save it. 😉 He was an NI Bravian car, and I could potentially get you a dealer spec and service sheet if you want?

That's exactly it. 25 Gti, zr 160, brm or 200vi would be my ideal, but I cna have this on the track for not even the purchase price of a rough one of those.

I thought that myself, but values have sky rocketed. The mini racing championship here in Northern Ireland and Ireland has tripped values. Especially for the One and Cooper r50. I've been very lucky to get this one, even rough no mot cars are going for £800 to £1000 now because of it.

That was brilliant especially the ginger stepchild bit😂😂😂😂😂 I’ll be closely watching,if you need and parts I have a few bits and pieces that are ok,you can have them for nothing,just not sure of postage costs to you from here,but none the less will be an interesting build and they are great fun to drive 👍🏻

Your a legend sir. I've two cars to mot and then another to engine swap then I can properly spend my time on it. For now it was to getting it running half way sensible. September will be a huge buying time for it.

Yes mate!! The Cooper’s are normally 116bhp from factory, fairly certain that’s the “official” figure. You’re gonna love it and I can’t wait to help out!

Hinges are prone to failing/snapping on the boot lids of these. Lenses split on the rear lights which is why there’s moisture and dirt getting in.

I have a 2003 R50 which i bought new in 2003. No rust problems, no oil leaks and the Midland 5-speed transmission shifts quietly and smoothy............Great little car which IMO is the best looking of the "new" MINIS........

Awesome, I'm literally doing the same. I bought a Mini mini Cooper R50 that is a shed with a blown engine. I have now put in another engine from a breakers but guess what it's got a misfire. Cylinder 3 low compression once warm at idle! But drives okay at higher revs. So just another job to be done at a later date. I saved the cylinder head from the old engine so I have plans to rebuild that in the hope it's valves rather the piston head or rings😮. Anyways I've subscribed. Best of luck with the build.
