Bought this same Crossbow in October 2019. Only shot one deer so far with it but it was a nice 10pt one eyed bruiser.

Awesome job as always great shot surprised you didn't use the scorpyd. I want a new scorpyd the ds 380 with 115 lb limbs. Great video thanks for sharing, Mark

Love your videos! Great job! What has been your preferred broadhead and do you forward weight your arrows / bolts?
@TheFieldArcher
@TheFieldArcher 3 года назад
Using the NAP Doublecross heads, watched the last three deer drop! I don't shoot long distance, saddle hunting and off-hand close shots so forward weight is a non-issue for me.

I bought this crossbow because I wanted the Ravin R29x so bad but I cannot afford it. The cranking device just seems too dangerous to use. If the sleds strings aren't perfectly aligned (no twists, even on both sides) the sled can come out of the barrel groove. You have to watch it meticulously while slowly cranking it to make sure the sled didn't come out or your bow string didn't start to come off. Then when you've sweated yourself dry up to the point that you get the click and you've double checked that the anti dryfire is in place. You then have to put your fingers in the danger zone in order to remove the sled. I stressed this much at my Pro Shop with the Archery Tech doing all of the work. The pro shop tech, my wife, and myself agreed it's not worth the risk. Imagine doing all of this in the dark before a hunt. There is a reason why Ravin and Tenpoint point and anyone else with these high powered crossbows have switched their trigger box mechanism to slide down the rail to to crank under the safety of the anti dry fire system. I wanted to love this crossbow. To be honest this was going to be "the while I wait to save up for the Ravin R29x UPGRADE and then pass it down to my Wife" crossbow lol. My wife has carpal tunnel so a cranking crossbow was a must, but this one is not safe.

Use a headlamp in your blind or tree-stand and it's no problem at all. It's a learning experience for sure but once you get it down, it's a lot easier!

Nice shot. Any opinion on the new Blackhawk 360 from Wicked Ridge? Looking at possibly getting an xbow for next season. But I'm not trying to spend $1K+.

Definitely splurge and get an m1 turbo I have a 360 rampage and I wish I would have put the money on top of more money and got the tenpoint m1 turbo so that'll be my upgrade or a scorpyd I've been looking at some of the bows

I think that cp400 is blowing up on people is to light of a bolt. Even tho it's 400 grains. Also it could be because of sled design it's cutting into the serving the edges is kind of sharp. I dulled it with sand paper. But they need a new cocking sled I use the reg hook design. Until I got the silent crank much better cranking my cp400. Had no problems since my string blew while to was shooting?
@kurtglo
@kurtglo Год назад
Darnell, you are spot on about the bolt. It should be 100 grains heavier

Any information on the trigger on this bow please? I have the CP Sniper which I really like. However the trigger let's it down massively!
@TheFieldArcher
@TheFieldArcher 3 года назад
The trigger is better than the Sniper 370, the CP400 does have long travel but it is consistent, the Sniper 370 trigger pull was a rollercoaster ride.

baiting is just too easy of a hunt even if its legal, takes the challenge out of it.
@TheFieldArcher
@TheFieldArcher 3 года назад
You notice how alert and on edge they were coming to the bait... Only people that don't hunt over bait think "it must be easier". Now when you hunt public land and run 4 cameras (not just attached to the bow) and have all of that extra movement working the cameras with deer on edge coming into bait, that's a challenge.
@kurtglo
@kurtglo Год назад
lol, I think it's still a challenge even when you do use bait!!
