Lol the heat shield then gasket is definitely the way they did it from the factory, my 84 motor is a recall motor and that is how it was done. I guess the heat shield first works

the fbody oil pan gives you more room if you choose to run a full factory style exhaust, but the fwd pan has ~0.5qt extra capacity
