FIFA 22 PS5 vs PS4 Graphics and Player Animation Comparison (next gen vs old gen) 

i don't understand why a sport game like FIFA needs the "next gen" to provide this kind of graphics (lighting, etc.) while open world game like RDR2 appears to be more beautiful even without the "next gen" label..

Tbh I think the PS4 is capable of having the ps5 graffics they jus downgraded the PS4 to make ps5 look better

They honestly didn’t really need to make a next gen edition yet. The gap between current and next gen is very small. It’s not as big as PS3 to PS4 was.

The main difference is lighting. The PS4 might be able to handle same graphic level as PS5, but they prolly downgrade the PS4 to make the PS5 version look better

Absolute joke, they can definitely make the ps4 version look like the ps5 if they wanted to, especially adding in those cut scenes and kids walking out etc, just scummy from EA.

No one doubts that FIFA 22 has better graphics, but they have done a "downgrade" on PS4 to make the "difference" more noticeable, for example in the sweat of the players,in previous FIFA games for PS4 players if they had sweat when playing, and now they have already removed that animation on PS4, it is obviously downgrade

Remember that lighting is everything in terms of how much strain it will do on the graphics card. Use Cyberpunk as a reference for what happens with rendering proper lighting.

Considering the PS4 was released in 2013 its not much of a difference.

This is the worst generation change we've ever had. Best swap: PS2 to PS3.

On PS4 there is a slightly pale filter, which is contrasted with the strong colors of the players. In PS5 everything is more harmonious and the details of the reflections make it very realistic.

Its unbelievable that they count PC as a old gen. My Pc would eat Fifa and spit it out again.

This video alone encapsulates how LAZY and MANIPULATIVE EA is. It is LITERALLY THE SAME GAME on both PS4 and PS5. Same animations, same celebrations, same lifeless facial expressions, same entrance angles and even same commentary (with not a single extra commentary sentence for next gen consoles). Hell, the only slightest difference (negligible even) that PS5 have over PS4 is that it has more detailed hair, facial hair (detailed hair strands), the stadium lights reflect off the players' faces (which is really weird how unrealisticly wet and reflective these faces are on PS5 when playing in rain conditions), the clothes are more detailed (even though they look fine on PS4 and my guess is they downgraded them on PS4 to make PS5 stand out) and bounce up and down (which is also exaggerated) and the game is brighter on PS4 when it is darker and slightly more contrasted on PS5 (like those picture options you adjust on your tv). Absolutely PATHETIC and LAZY!!!

Even tho current gen is well capable of handling next gen graphics with possible downgraded tweaks, it shouldn't look terrible for current gen players. Im still playing on current gen since most people still can't afford or get there hands on next gen due to price and lack of consoles. I woulda like to see some improvements to it but ea loves to ignore there customers. Its also stupid that they didn't add the next gen features to pc since apparently most players pc can't "handle" it. Im play in a 1660 and I can play most new games on ultra with great fps and lowering the settings gives me 250fps+. Its just so stupid the way ea run things for the past couple years smh.

Luka Modrić actually looks more realistic to me on PS4 than on PS5. But yeah, clearly there are differences in rendering, but comparing 2013 hardware to 2020 there is nothing to write home about. But I still believe PS5 is using only fraction of its power and capabilities. Remember how some titles looked in 2013 on PS4, and look what developers can do with the same hardware today. Much of it lies in software too, ie. game engine advancements.

The big difference I noticed is that the light reflects off the players faces due to the sweat. So it looks more realistic.

I wish they would start making consoles with the ability to upgrade internals later on.. Like doubling ur ram or being able to insert a second graphics card and it running SLI.. If pcs can do it and the same game is all sudden getting way more fps and graphics are on a new level with the extra card then consoles should be able to do it as well.

Most normal people aren't going to understand how huge liquid effects for the sweat, dynamic lighting and polygon mapping are. They will see that there isn't a huge gap in the model, but this is very difficult to pull off without excessive memory and processing power.

Let's be honest they can make the PS4 version look just as good as the PS5. Look at Red Dead Redemption 2 that's a massive game but the graphics still look amazing.

In fifa 17 you also can see the sweat of the players in the ps4 version, and now in fifa 22 no, at least strange. We are talking about a console that runs the last of us 2, RDR2, BFV, which for me is the most beautiful BF ever made, among many other graphically heavy games

The changes I felt is they added original skin tones and facial shadows and adjust unwanted saturation that's all 😞

Is it necessary to have a 4k tv for the PS5? I see lots of comments on the Internet from people who say there's no point in buying a next gen without upgrading your TV. Personally, I have a super 1080p with a refresh rate of 120Hz, I played all my games on PS4 Pro on it, either in 1080p or in multi-sampling mode (which improves the image quality quite a bit by increasing the internal resolution of the game then downscaling to 1080p rendering) without HDR and I found that very good. On the same TV, I can very easily differentiate a PS3 game from a PS4 game. But to see a difference on the PS5 would you have to change the TV? It's rubbish, pure commercialism, in my opinion. Especially since I've seen comparison videos and 8 times out of 10, I find movies or games much less visually appealing with the so-called prodigious HDR. I would love to hear your, yes, you reading this, YOUR opinion! Thank you!
