Is this version more recent? I saw in other reviews that the foam on the microphone is a different color and the box has a different design. Although the style of the box on mine is the same as yours, mine included a free microphone stand.

Well, it is recent as of August of this year. The company doesn't seem to have any other version listed on its site or other retailers. There are some bundles out there with things like boom arms, but that's about it. You might have gotten your hands on a rare offshoot that the company was testing out at some point to see how well it sells. Or it could have been a cost-cutting move to lower the weight of the box and what's inside. Hard to say for sure. Unless it is just an older model that "looks" like the K688, really has a different model number, and is no longer available anywhere? -- Ryan S.
