Porsche should seriously consider taking the BlueSport format and bringing back the 914 with some retro styling cues and an emphasis on efficiency. Plus, more cars with lower co2 emissions in their line up means they could afford to make even more powerful cars in the top end of their market.
@Driftuner oh, maybe im wrong, but its unlikely for them to get the figures wrong.. maybe different route as theres more than one or the subaru was after this?

I would love VW to make this car...lightweight, efficient sportscars are the future. 50mpg on the combined cycle is pretty good for a car that is still fun to drive. A wee bit better than the 350z's 25mpg... I'm with those that want a manual gearbox mind you...
@armenchik619 they are purely made to spark your interest. if they didnt have concepts, then people would lose hope for the future of the company. the only other purpose for concepts is to show off a certain aspect of future cars, such as an engine or wheels. just because they dont make the car, dosent mean you wont see parts of the car or design cues in other models.
Come on, please make put the Bluesport into production! Not everyone can afford a Porsche Boxster. A rear wheel drive from VW priced near a Golf would be great. I would buy one!!!

VW unveiled this shortly before buying Porsche and the VW executives are planning an entry level Porsche (cheaper than the Boxster). We will most likely see this car in a few years sporting the Porsche badge and a 4 cylinder engine.
still liking the blue sport though 1200Kg is a bit more than I'd hoped. Bit unfair comparing its weight to the Evora IMO... anyone know what roof it comes with? Might just replace the elise with one, when my joints start to pack in that is :P

I'm not sure why Porsche is planning on creating a baby boxster based on the BlueSport. By offering 2 different mid-engine roadsters, the BlueSport and Boxster will compete with each other. After all, you only buy a Boxster b/c you are unable/unwilling to pay for a 911. If buyers can buy a mid-engine roadster Porsche that costs less than the Boxster, they will. To bring in more buyers, Porsche should instead develop a front-engine 4-pot coupe like the 944.
@mdehee Vicki is an awesome driver and reviewer, I always enjoy watching and listening to her drive..... and Graham from the office is always entertaining and humorous. I'll take Top Gear, Fifth Gear,and AutoCar; because all three combined still do not provide enough car info/entertainment for me, never enough car info......
i dont get it...she says the panamera set the nurburgring record lap with 7:56sec...but...díd she forget that the Subaru STi did it in 7:55? i mean..the sti is also a saloon car with 4 doors and everything...
Deisel engines have more torque than gas. Even if they put a 2.0T gas engine in it, you wouldn't be red-lining it to make more power. All VW has to do to make it comparable to a gas engine of similar size is change the gearing so it's taller.
who cares about green credentials.. this VW concept look great - sleek, simple and very sporty....a Little bit like Scirooco without a roof I hope it will go into production.. and I'm expecting also VW Microbus concept into production !

I love the looks of the new Volkswagen Bluesport. But Please volkswagen put some turbocharged petrol engines in it. The diesel engines will never be cool.
VW are quite smart and I think this one will sell like hot cakes...A clean sportcar yes and I think for the next ten years before we run on water will be running clean D's all over the world. I have a TDI Golf mkv and IT is cleaner this the petrol 4's go go go speady!
no puedes comparar un vw hecho en alemania que uno hecho en mexico ... esa es la diferencia, por ejem. aqui en peru NADIE que sepa de carros compra el cc mexicano, prefieren esperar meses hasta que lleguen los lotes de alemania
aki en Mexico son conocidos pr tener el mismo motor inerte desde el 2000 con el qe salio el jetta de ese año i la verdad los interiores hasta de los carros del año salieron pesimos y de motor si se ven medio viejones ademas cascabelea mucho el motor en la gran mayoria aunque tengan mantenimiento de agencia i los interiores de algunos modelos se aflojan al poco tiempo por la pesima calidad de ensamble en diseño la vdd tienen muchos carros de buen diseño pro con calidad qe da mucho qe desear
@xDteampower Clearly you've never heard of a Volkswagen Phaeton which shares it's entire chassis and drive train and even some of its interior with a Bentley Continental GT and Bentley Continental Flying Spur.Look it up and be prepared to eat your words.BTW Even BMW's and Mercedes aren't like a Maserati, Ferrari or Aston Martin.

Why the hell would VW talk about and release literature on a two seater for over 8 years by my count and not put one single model into production. I hate leadership-less big companies, it makes me think how good things would be if I were in charge of VW.
@monobrowfilmlover fifth gear is very informative, but yes i agree with you, id rather watch clarkson yell "POWER" and do completely pointless and reduclious things for the sake of entertainment, fifth gear can get abit bland
