This is why i like Fith gear more. They are more serious. They talk about think you care about like boot space, running costs etc. And they are excited about epic cars
Fuck me, Tiff is fearless. Driving this car like a bat out of hell in such close quarters. Good god, he's a good driver. That McLaren is bliss. So fucking perfect.
@dsass600 They haven't replaced the Enzo yet, the GTO is a reincarnation of the legendary road/race cars. The Enzo was part of a line of F cars (F40,F50, etc), that's why the Enzo is referred to as the F60. There is no F70 yet but they're working on one.
Two incredible machines! That is actually a Mclaren F1 LM. The LM was basically a street legal version of the F1 GTR race car which explains all of the controls inside and there's only like 5 in existence!! Those wheels, spoiler, as well as the color were not options for the regular F1 which is the one that holds the 240 mph top speed record and was more civilized inside. You could get it in black, red, and silver but I think that's it. The LM was also not known for being as fast.
Yes. The GTR is not street legal. It was built specifically for the track and used in races. Like I said the LM was basically a street legal version of the GTR. It has a smaller spoiler, different wheels, and this color was the only one you could get it in if you are lucky enough to own one of the 5 in existence. If you compare it to the standard F1, it has different bumpers too. The standard F1 was very rare itself as only 106 were produced and I think there's only 60 in the U.S.
Its been no secret that for the last 15 years, Tiff Needell's favourite car has been the McLaren F1, and for a very good reason, its a beast of a car. No other car even comes close to the mighty McLaren F1. After the McLaren MP4-12C super car, McLaren are building a new hyper car, its project name is the McLaren P12. .
@GregDyNastyStylez F70 seems like it will be amazing. It'd be hard as hell to get your hands on one of the 400 Enzo's in existence.. Then again, maybe not.
I'd love to see a race between the - - Porsche 911 GT2 - Koenigsegg Agera R - Hennessey Venom GT - Bugatti Veyron Super Sport - SSC Ultimate Aero - Saleen S7 - Pagani Zonda Cinque - Lamborghini Aventador - Noble M600 - Aston Martin Vanquish - Ferrari Enzo - Pagani Hyundai (This car topped the Top Gear by a long jump) - Ferrari 458 - McLaren F1 (My favourite car) - SSC Ultimate Aero - Koenigsegg CCX I think that it might go to the Pagani Zonda Huayra/McLaren F1/Venom GT!
I remember watching this video when i had like 15 years old , now am 20 and I always will remember this video because it inspires me to love cars. Just when i heard that ferrari sound.
It is just pure engineering genius only a company like McClaren could make, considering it's over 15 years old and the world's fastest naturally aspirated car it's the most impressive super car imo. Someone who drove one I think it was Andretti said that if they changed the gear ratios and added a 7th gear it could probably go a bit faster.
Tiff OBVIOUSLY said the Mclaren was a race car converted for road use. the LM's were never "converted" but were built straight out of the factory for road use. This is a 1995 GTR made to look like an LM
Tiff know how to talk about cars so well. His explanation is like human being & cars are one. Fuel/Petrol=Blood, Piston=Heartbeat. Jeremy and his gang just can't do that. Tim Schrick good too.
The Enzo would clearly be the better choise of the two, considering costs, comfort, speed etc. But that is not really what super cars are about is it? the McLaren would leave the Enzo for dead in soul, passion, noise and excitement. Love that orange thing. It is just so beautiful.
I sat in an F1 when I was like 9 or 10 at the Melbourne Grand Prix. I went off by myself because the cars were too noisy for me and someone let me sit in it. It was a privilege and a half!
NASCAR calls itself a "stock car" race. Jeff Gordon said that the word "stock" means "unmodified", in a sense of "race as a 700hp purpose-build tube-frame race car". If this is the context you are looking for, then Formula 1 cars are stock cars, they race without modification. If a dragster is purpose-build with no resemblance of any other cars, then yes it is a stock car.
@marklung : "Lock" Is how much the front wheels can turn when you turn the steering wheel from full left to full right, this is call lock, how tight the car can tun.
@GenuineLeather13 steering lock stops you from turning further once the wheel gets to a certain point in the steering, no lock means the wheels will turn until they are as far as the steering mechanism will move
for me is wrong to compare those 2 cars...they are both a piece of art and engineering...they two different things and they are beautiful for what they are
If they could only make cars like the F1 today for the average Joe, oh the things that would become possible, oh the noise, oh the speeding tickets.... God Bless McLaren for making such a beautiful machine.
Now on to the cars. If you say either one of these cars suck, or say things likes F1>Enzo or vice versa its very obvious that you've never driven or seen either one of these cars in person. Both the Enzo Ferrari and Mclaren F1 are engineering marvels, the two were built for to totally different purposes. But they do them well in there own ways, why can't we by like the owner of these cars and want both of them in our sheads or garages? Because he sure isn't thinking which one is better. =)
What's the difference between this and Top Gear? Which one is better? I only watch Top Gear sadly... I don't have time to watch both and begin from season 1. I am mainly curious of the opinions of those, who watch both.
These cars have much in common, but the companies that make them have less in common. Ferrari has made tons more consumer cars than Mclaren. Mclaren makes only a few cars, the F1 and Enzo both put racing technology on the road. You'd drive the Enzo more often, it's cheaper, more practical for a supercar, which makes no sense. The F1 is just raw, and they are rarely used for what they were built, Enzos are used more often across the board.
I love the old Mclaren. She have a carismatic soul that is simply unique. The only supercar that can beat Mclaren ( not in speed or acceleration, but in beauty ) is Ferrari F40.
That my friends is a McLaren F1 LM. Subtle differences to the F1 include the fact that the LM more of a thrill car while the regular F1 is more of a luxury car. Both fast as the devil, but I'm pretty sure the F1 is a three seater and the LM is a one seater. Mind you only 5 F1 LM's were ever made so it's ultimately more impressive.
It's not a LM. It's a GTR converted post production to look like the LM. Hood scoop, forward side skirts, rear brake intakes, and interior are dead give aways. Not to mention the GTR windshield banner as opposed to the LM one that only LM's received
What's disappointing about the F1 is the BMW V12. That brings it down a notch. Would have been perfect if McLaren built their own V12 like Ferrari. I'd take the Enzo all day over the F1. Ferrari has more soul and passion oozing out of it. The McLaren seems cold.
Sweet cars! Strangely Kuwait has such vehicles but no drivers. I have OUTRUN this exact Ferrari at least twice using an 09 EDM STI-slightly modded but untuned. Other bullets too like: Turbo S, GT-R, Audi R8 5.2, some Corvettes etc. I'm far from an ACE driver-only 6 months on stickshift. Such waste makes enthusiasts to wanna cry!
How dare your good sir! that car is a racing legend! If you know anything at all about cars, then you'll know all the achievements its made. it's more 20 years old, and it still can match most of the super cars today. it was the legend that one championships everywhere. you can like some other car, but when you hear someone dissing a Mclaren you have to intervene. it's as if you spat in the face of a man that's been a hero in both ww1 and 2! I'm sorry, im getting too emotional here.. :P
