Interested in making your figs taste better? Place them in the fridge on a tray, cut them in half with the skin side down. In a couple weeks, they'll dry and turn into fig candy.

Is there a video that talks about the common pests that you can find on your figs?

Hi Ross - I have recently subscribed to your site and have really enjoyed your videos. I live in the Southern California area - specifically in Zone 10a. We have several days in the Summer where the temps get up above 100 degrees and fairly dry. I am looking to use a hearty rootstock to graft more challenging varieties of figs onto and was thinking of using Brown Turkey as rootstock. Do you think this would be a good choice for the climate conditions or might you have any recommendations for a hearty vigorous rootstock that is suited for the hot dry climate in S Cal ? Also, what age should the rootstock be before grafting onto it ? Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I actually pick my tomatoes green and let them ripen in the window I've done this for years if you pick them right before they start to turn red they will continue if you pick them too early they will not turn

You have to grow your own in Cali otherwise you will just buy trash, which means I buy some (Safeway Trader Joe’s)then throw them straight in the trash. Rather sad really never had a ripe fig in my life because all the ones I’ve bought have been trash. Started growing my own a few months ago think I’m up at 11 varieties atm going to buy some more in the near future lots of rain atm and almost completely out of room.
