Every time he's even tangentially involved with her has related to death, outside of Ranoa. >Tried to save her in Japan, got hit by Truck-kun >Turning Point 1 >Dragon meat, Nanahoshi-style, cooked by the Death God >Turning Point 2 >Sara's dagger was from Remate, a store chain that Seven Star owns and operates, almost stabbed himself with it >sees her again, fell down the stairs (in the LN)
I wish more channels went in-depth into the psychology in anime, its fascinating to see a glimpse into the minds of not only the characters, but also the producers. You're doing great Ed, always a joy to see these videos.
We actually got a pretty big hint earlier in the story about there maybe someone else from our world living there, before Rudy met Orsted. After they had crossed over from the Millis continent to the Central continent, they arrived in a port city in the "King Dragon Realm", the very Chinese-inspired city they showed in the intro/op for ep. 19. While there, Rudy learned that the country had rice (unlike in the anime where he first tried it while traveling the countryside) and decided to stop at a run-down looking restaurant (iirc because of the smell). The chef's special was a dish called "Dragon Meat - Nanahoshi Style" which he remarked was very simliar to karaage. The taste was way off though, so Rudy went apeshit on the cook/owner. After the party left we were introduced to that cook via another character, who by his name you could tell would be important later on (omitting for spoilers obviously).
This is something i saw on a comment somewhere else, but i also agree a lot with, is, the level of respect MT has towards knowledge, for example, when Rudy first started learning magic, he read "genetics define mana, and cant be changed" but instead of accepting it, he experienced "no, this is not true, i proved that" and goes with what he has learned through experience, and the same applies to Nanahoshi, in a place she knows not of the rules and laws, she has to base herself off Sci-fi to come to understand things and then creates her own vision and knowledge through, hence why she criticizes the "if someone else doesnt know, they get stuck" and is pragmatic in her approach, its really fascinating the levels of depth and different approaches every character has because thats what they know of and learn about, same with the episode with Julie, where Silphy mentions to rudy that "yeah, the textbooks are wrong" because of the same, it puts whats known and doesnt accept it in their entirety, and makes the reader or watcher think, specially with this new info "is orsted or hitogami wrong?" as both have different answers about the Displacement incident, as a LN reader, i know the answers, but as such i hope yall keep quiet and let Ed and others anime only discover them by themselves
I can't stop thinking about how Nanahoshi took her mask off when she found out Rudy was from her world and was eager to connect with him, but as soon as she found out he didn't want to return like she did she put it back on and closed him off. It's not exactly subtle, but I can't stop thinking about it. Also, I have a small theory. Obviously Nanahoshi has closed herself off from the world because she wants to return home as soon as possible while Rudy has embraced it because he wants nothing to do with his old life. But I suspect that their differing methods of coming to the world has also affected how they each interact with it. Nanahoshi isn't aging and in her own words the world "doesn't feel real" to her. I wonder if this is a side effect of being teleported in, as opposed to Rudy's reincarnation which has let him experience the world in its fullest in a body from that world.
Nanahoshi's appearance brought death and waste to the world, Rudy's brought joy and happiness to a family. Like everything about their arrivals/early time are so opposite and I can't even blame her at all for wanting to get out.
I watched the Vod last night, but the sheer look of confusion on Eds face during the espy section at the end when everything kept coming back to "The Rat" was absolutely hilarious
I’ve watched the ptsd and sylphy getting angry scene several times over now. The emotions there are just so raw. It’s rare to find scenes this impactful in anime and we got two in one episode. Also would Rudeus feel similar emotions when he sees doughnuts? 🤔
SOOOOOO Excited for this episode!! If I have a nickel every time an anime with amazing action scenes spread throughout the seasons yet the best episode is the one where people just talk for 20 minutes, I'd have 2 nickels. Surely, this is a trait that all great isekais have (MTS and ReZero)
The rat is the best kind of hint ever, because it is literally impossible to guess what's gonna happen just from this, unless you already know what happens.
I mean... if he did that, Nanahoshi would certainly die, but so would Rudy soon after. Notice when she starts expounding on the teleportation incident she puts on *two* rings. One that produces the barrier she used to defend herself from Sylphie... the other she didn't have to use, but it sends a distress signal to Orsted if she's ever threatened and in danger. Since he can't travel instantaneously he wouldn't arrive in time to save her, but he would definitely butcher both Rudeus and Sylphie in retaliation.
@@NatyaVT I think she has the emergency beacon ring on at all times on the other hand. I'll have to check. Those two rings she explicitly put on seem to be forcefield and Disturb Magic rings.
2:17:08 Her curse gathers mana from the environment around her air, earth, water, ambient...etc and causes it to pool in her baby factory. Thats why she needs regular doses of protein so the mana turns it into valuable minerals aka gems instead of turning her into a corpse.
0:13 Ed: "my job is not to make predictions" Also Ed: *Makes several on point predictions Me: "Ed, you are not beating the wizardry allegations anytime soon" 1:30:52 the moment Ed just gives up beating the allegations XD Another great episode btw
Dude, what predictions, he's literally asking for spoilers in the second half and when chat isn't spoiling constantly, they accentuate important details even if you shouldn't have knew they matter at that point. He literally says he knows about Orsted looping and KNOWS (not GUESSES) there are no black haired people in this world.
For the Orsted thing you can check out all the discussions I’ve had with Espi or Natalie on it about as to black haired thing literally has been something that’s been pointed out since season 1. Also my job is not to predict stuff it’s all about the character analysis
@@psyculturists i know, i didn't want to offend or anything, i just find it funny how you made that disclaimer and then predicted things afterwards, i hope that didn't make things bad
@@psyculturists I understand that your main goal is to analyse characters etc etc, so staying anime-only is less important to you, but you aren't just fed spoilers and sneakily nudged in right direction but also actively ask for things. I don't mind MT spoilers myself as I already read WN fanTL many years ago and still remember major details, and I don't even mind some spoilers myself sometimes (I know that feeling of craving for more), but there are people who don't want to be spoiled. How can you be fair to them when you don't even know some "guesses" in chat were spoilers? Hard to say, but at least you can try wording you questions to Espi in a way that won't make him act like Badigadi about ManGod in ep8 (I find that funny because it was the first time I decided to listen to "aftershow" as I associated them with small talks before and after live presentations about games etc and I don't like those). But anyway, whatever you decide to do, the rat will be your judge. Also maybe I should write Espi and ask him to mix in false spoilers when he answers you?..
How I'd bait otherworlders? I'd make guns and become an adventurer after securing a few "inventions" on the side I can market. I'd get myself a magical implement that's as much like a gun as possible and wear something that looks like a cowboy duster and hat and use "You are my sunshine" as a signature whistle. Make it as stereotypically hollywood as it gets, so I can bait anyone who's watched movies or TV ever. And if fame spreads, then it's something so outlandish for the setting you can't help but notice. If I can make a stick or wand shoot a souped-up Stone Cannon, I'm set. I only need to up the velocity a hit mach 3 or 4 and figure out how to fuel the implement. Magic crystals might work as magazines or batteries.
in my opinion.i think the reason why silphy didn't take on next step is because she is afraid Ariel will use their relationship to control Rudy and use him,Ariel knew how strong magic the Rudy have, but sliphy never except Rudy becomes Ariel's servant like her
That may be an element, but her fear of not being accepted as a "childhood friend" with the same level of attention that she gives him is mostly what worries her. That and a rejection "as a woman"
Her fears are multilayered and founded on insecurity. But she has enjoyed getting to know Rudeus again from a clean slate. It's only the encounter with Nanahoshi that gets her to panic about their relationship progressing. She fears she's being usurped as the childhood friend by Nanahoshi. - She has misunderstood the situation. She is worried Rudeus might still have ties to the Boreas, a house supporting the 1st prince's faction. - Legitimate worry, but unfounded. She is worried Rudeus might return to the Notos, a house with wavering loyalties. - Legitimate worry, but unfounded She is jealous of Ariel taking control of him. - VERY legitimate worry, but Ariel sees him as too powerful to control and too dangerous to manipulate. She fears having been forgotten. - Rudeus has given few hints of his past with Sylphy, only that a childhood friend is still missing. She fears him not being into her. - Rudeus has many beautiful women around him, many much more well endowed than her.
1:25:40 Ed forgeting that his wizzard powers work also subconsciously so every time he slips water it's revealed that he is a wizzard and that banana is banana
The chat kills me literally spoiling shit that gets revealed in the episode before he can get there its so annoying. Glad the mods noticed and went emote only
Your chat is something. Even without spoiling anything, they will put you in the right way of thought that is spoiling anyway. Sorry, I can't be anymore on your twitch streams. And yeah, Idk anything besides anime only, but your chat is still spoiling too much.
It's such a shame, right? I would love to share his content with my friends who are anime only or only read the LNs up to the anime after the season is complete but I can't because he and his chat will spoil everything. I really, really want to share because the psychological analysis is top tier but I just can't without ruining the story for anyone.
With Rudeus' utter panic attack, I feel the diagnostic term and the common English term for what he's going through lack gravity. _Hän on pakokauhun vallassa_ . He is under the power/rule of flight-terror.
Geese in an S1 episode stated he was going to search for Zenith. So he is currently accounted for in that respect. As to Mana disaster... no clue about then. Rather I was still more sus or Pertguis or whatever sky guys name was. Not an easy name to remember exactly. He was in his palace in the sky and existing with how ever many others are up there and most of them are unaccounted for.
Ed, you paint a truly scary and heartbreaking nightmare of a vision with what Sylphy might do if she and Rudeus would ever have a break in their relationship, that she'd return to her role as Ariel's guardian. Ariel's eventually going to return to Asura to fight for the throne. That is her reason to be now. And her position in exile is fundamentally disadvantaged. What do you think would happen if she'd return to lay her claim on the throne half-cocked? And how would Rudeus respond to that, should he still be in the position or frame of mind to try to reconcile with Sylphy? We've already seen him decide to drown an entire city to protect Eris.
What if the magic circle that teleported them wasn’t a circle but a singularity point like a portal. It had enough power to bring the high school students but rudy had residual exposure to jumping in front of them. The residual power didn’t have enough to teleport rudy as a whole but enough to send just his soul. Since it was just his souls being transported, it could only inhabit a body without a soul. Thus, he was reincarnated as Paul’s and zenith’s kid. Since orsted said they never had a son, rudy’s body originally must of been a stillborn. Idk how to explain the time gap between arrival though. Maybe volume of energy to transfer? Rudy was just a soul so energy transfer between dimensions is minimal vs whole body. Would also explain why displacement happened due to recoil of that energy type. Man, my imagination just kept going lol
Honestly If an American gets isekai I'm pretty sure that we'd use an entirely different framework to model our behavior. We wouldn't treat it like we are in a strange land and we need to learn the local culture and customs. For most Americans effectively enough the world is America and don't ever plan on leaving. An isekaid American isnt traveling. No....an isekaid American has been kidnapped by a hostile foreign power and in the commotion has gone missing. An isekaid American is behind enemy lines, is able to trust no one, and would be desperately trying to escape. Escalation to utter barbarity would happen quickly and regularly. This is the reason for the unpopularity of the isekai genre in American produced fiction.
If American isekai'ed in typical jp LN world, they'll probably died senselessly trying to oppose slavery when they're still too young and weak to make difference.
Looking at the map. I have to ask how the 6 sides exist? Hexagonal planet? I do not see it as 6 places fusing so much as 6 cultures but the land masses themselves never changed from the very start. It truly is a bizarre planet structure.
Geese is a character that the anime sacks the most "important dialogue" bits from in the show. Basicly at this point you would have your answers already even if indirectly. I got from his dialogue to this point that he was a Rudy type of person; just a version where he has normie combat skill but SSS rank in every other skill. Hell he taught Eris how to cook and she sucks at learning non-combat as we all know.; but of course they just had him dip immediately instead in the anime. He taught her between Beast village and Millis. Do not get me wrong he is still Sus. But the anime is just making it less subtle in nature. He's supposed to be that friend that everyone likes but at the same time has an Aura of creeper that may or may not be warranted. Knew a person IRL that had a face that looked like a haloween mask because lips and eyes and coloring all felt off and had an Aura that creeped out men and women despite him being straight and rather adamant about morality and rationale. Super friendly and nothing negative to say about him but definite serial killer vibes or alien invader vibes... he just felt wrong and out of place in reality. I guess like a mirage or ghost might apply. I feel Geese is that type. He gives off bad vibes but is a good person despite it as far as we know so far.
Espiritus cruelty leveled up again... I completely missed the rat being talked about. No clue when in the episode that was and my eyes are crap to often.
I think you are going too much into the christian idea of the all powerful god who can do anything, but remember that the seven great powers which have the title of god are compared to red dragons by Rujierd and Japan didn't really have an all powerful god in their mythology and while they don't really seem to believe much more it's still obvious it influenced the current culture a lot.
Sure he is going too muchinto idea of all powerful god, but there is a difference between "god" the title, and "god" the deity. Deities exist, but someone like sword god, ogre god, etc. are not deities.
The day and night cycle is different and the year length is different... pretty sure that was mentioned already. On Earth they are varied and indistinct (as in rather than 24 hours as stated the truth has a string of notation after the 23)... so it was something like 25 hour days and 365 day years but no leap year. If someone knows better please correct me.
I'm quickly becoming of the opinion that streaming first time reactions and analysis is the worst way to do this. Chat just spoils everything. Ed can't have theories because chat immediately confirms or denies it (even in emote only) and then spoils it for Ed and any anime onlys watching. FFS even the mods are spoiling things. Might have to check out on these which is such a shame.
This is random but have you been recommended banana fish? Maybe is too long (is 24 episodes, 22 minutes each) but i think it would be great for analizing
Discord melts my brain to try and figure out. I have one but was instantly lost in my own account let alone understanding how to function as a part of it. I can barely text or comment without getting lost and confused. So we go to your address then what? How do I know I went to the right place and am not falling for an elaborate scam? I do not trust it enough to hang out there. You tube comments I feel safe in; I understand it.
There is no way for this to spoil anything. Even in THE scene when [Redacted] tells Rudy to go [Redacted], no "rat" is being mentioned at all. Rudy/the audience only learn about it when [Redacted] arrives in the room and does you-know-what.
@petermuller9480 Ed asked about X where X was a spoiler. Espi answered The Rat!!! That means if The Rat happens then Ed knows X is coming soon and will be able to make a guess about what it is early. Remember, it's a spoiler for AFTER a big fight?
I literally rewatched part of the video for this. Sadly, you are correct! It's not guaranteed, that Ed will realize it, though, as that point in the story is still far ahead of us and probably going to get animated in 2025 at the earliest. There's a good chance, that Ed will have forgotten this detail by then....@@gigglestomp5403
@@petermuller9480 There is too much information for Ed to work out together with the Rat, only way he would be able too is if he reads the LN, only reason some can do that is because they know what's coming ether with LN/WN or Wiki, Plus Season 3 will prob be in 2025 if were lucky, by then he will have 50 other clues to think about, and by next week he will be onto other clues as well. Don't worry were safe haha, its stream chat we need to be worried about.
1) Thanks for the honour of commenting on our discussion! 2) I believe so, too, that Ed will have forgotten about minute little hints, that were dropped during a 4-hour-stream, especially, since the the scene in question is still a VERY LONG TIME away from getting animated. 3) Different topic: Do you also get the impression that 99% of the haters of MT don't watch the story at all? Whenever I have a discussion with them, they claim to have watched it, but then they continually don't remember stuff, that happened in earlier episodes (unless I tell them), can't even correctly name the characters of the VERY episode they are "criticising", etc... What do you think is the best way to make the haters understand that MT is more than just a typical fanservice-focussed isekai? Because, I've been trying for months now and they are absolutely stonewalling everything and whenever a controversial episode comes around, they see it as proof, that MT is "just another isekai trash series". I don't know what could make them realize, how wrong they are Should I just drop some spoilers on their head (I mean, some of the stuff that is going to happen in MT will definitely leave them speechless, I'd assume)?@@Espiritu_Analysis
If you liked Nanahoshi's voice actress Shion Wakayama, you should try out Lycoris Recoil if you haven't since she voice one of the mains there and got a lot of attention for that. Also relationship analysis wise, Kyoto Animation aka KyoAni's Hibike! Euphonium is a great show to dive in as well!
I've looked at one specific scene of Lycoris Recoil for voice reference and that has me excited for next cour. Plus it makes the scene in the book come alive more, hearing her like that.
