Fight Scene & Ending | RWBY Volume 9 Finale

I'll be honest I miss Rubys scythe being bolt action. it had a bit more character needing with the *cha-chunk* every time she cycled it during the spins.

I love how the lyrics match the character development so well. "Red like roses" doesn't bring her to the place her mother rests anymore, she stopped trying to be the huntress her mother was

Ruby using her old fighting style is like the cherry on top

Nice to see ruby actually using her semblance offensively again. Her style feels more refined and sharper now, she’s more focused not being consumed by doubt.

Hearing the volume 1 opening at the end was a nice callback

Love that sweet little outro riff "this will be the day we waited for this will be the day we open up the door" just a bit of instrumentals but it's such a sweet thing

My prediction for an volume 10 event. " hey yang call you mom I have questions"

The way she came back and swung her scythe instantly with overwhelming confidence was great. Seemed like she was a bit angry but she didn't let it blind her and was just overpowering cheshire with her relentless assault/speed. 10/10

1:03 I love that they brought back my favorite move of her from the RED trailer. Were she slides down the weapon to dodge und fires to get distance and instantly rushes back to the enemy with her semblence. This move has just so mutch style.

Can you imagine if Ruby had come back in her Vol 1 outfit? 'A simple soul....' EDIT: have seen comments on here about how we had to see how she was accepting herself and yeah that's a beautiful message so perhaps instead she keeps her hairstyle and stays 'herself' but decides to grab her old Vol 1 outfit...?

That fight scene was EPIC LOOK AT RUBY SO FOCUSED SO FAST SO BEAUTIFUL SHES BACK

God it feels great to have this back

I have a feeling that the message Ruby sent in Volume 8 was received, and knowing that Atlas was collapsing and that Vacuo was the final Kingdom left that hadn’t been targeted yet, a lot of Remnant may have actually banded together to fight against Salem.

That fight scene was so good. Also RED LIKE ROSES PART 3 LETS GO!!!

The ending really makes it feel as we're now at the final stages of RWBY. Ruby and Jaune are in their fighting prime, we learned about the God's origin and we're in the last Kingdom. Something tells me the show will end by Volume 11 or 12.

I smiled but nearly cried when Ruby broke out and she was back to being the Ruby we knew personality wise, it was like having a friend you thought you would never see again. Also: RED LIKE ROSES PART III!!!!

That last attack makes me think “We’re Sonic Heroes!”

When red like roses started playing, I got goosebumps and I got a little teary-eyed while Ruby was in the tree, and she realized that she has always been more than enough! It also took me a while to realize but that final shot seeing vacuo, all the ships are from different kingdoms, and the big one is definitely in the arena that got turned into the communications tower. As the blacksmith said they went someplace when they are needed most, so some time has passed, but also proves that Rubys message worked in the end! I love that I cannot wait for volume 10 such a good volume!!

Just over joy in Weiss’s voice when she sees Ruby just shows how close they’ve all become. That family they formed and once Ruby came back, it was completed once more.

I'm imagining RWBY and Jaune trying to explain where they've been, "oh you know, wound up in a children's fairy tale, Jaune got mature and hot for a while, Blake and Yang have finally got together, oh and we met god. Not the two gods we're scared will come back but their mother, a weird but friendly robot blacksmith tree thing."

Okay, that was a great tribute to Monty ;)

i'm beginning to feel like a theme of the brothers is that they create things and expect blind loyalty and don't take the time to understand their creations, kinda like giving birth to a child and not raising it right and abandoning it when you get annoyed until the child becomes a monster due to your bad parenting.

Gotta say, Red like Roses for the "rebirth" and the slow reprise of "This will be the day". Mwaah! Perfecto! Now lets not have to wait so long for season 10? Please?

I just realized, did Ruby finally figure out how to use the fact her semblance should basically make her and anything she’s carrying intangible any time she uses it? When the Cat grabbed Crescent Rose it didn’t look like she moved her scythe out of his hands, it was just in his one second then it was gone, his hand actually looked like it closed a bit, like he was applying pressure on something that gave way.

Ruby: what if I choose me? Blacksmith: then maybe she is enough. *But seriously can you hurry the fuck up? I got other customer's to work with -_-*

I’m going to say it even if I get hate for it. The sequence when ruby is falling and when she starts battling the curious cat is the best scene in the entire show. Also this version of red like roses is actually amazing and fits so perfectly. I loved this season and I hope this show can continue.

The fleet at the end has ships from all the Kingdoms, seems there's been a decent timeskip at least a few months maybe a year. Also they turned the Vytas arena into a freaking battlecruiser.

Red Like Roses part 3 is so symbolic here, I love it. You hear something familiar, because Ruby came back as herself, and it switches to something completely new, because she changed inside. It's so perfect.

Hearing red like roses part 3 made me remember the first volumes and when I started to see Rwby this volume made me remember why I love this franchise

I have to admit. I think Ruby's a true warrior in that fight out of every fight she's been in. Bursting out with most likely her silver eyes and amazingly focused on her fighting. I don't ever remember her fighting that amazing on any other volumes.

At long last… Ruby and RWBY are officially back and better than ever, baby!

I think this is a metaphor for the rebirth not of Ruby herself, but of the series as a whole

That combo move finisher that team RWBY did at 1:36 is the coolest thing I've ever seen from an animated work. And then the shot at 1:40 right before they strike in unison?!?!?! THIS SHOW IS SO SLAY!!!!!

Team RWBY really went full Persona/Xenoblade with that Chain Attack to All Out Attack combo.

I almost cried when she finally broke out of the roots. Her mother's voice is the one thing to bring her back as she is.

I like how the lesson was she didnt need to change and that she could love herself. I wonder how many more people would be here had they been told that.

Her movements reflects the moveset of crosstag battle, wich also reflects the moves seen in the red trailer of rwby

I'm crying honestly Ruby, baby, you've come so far in this volume, i am so proud of her (Also can't wait for the full soundtrack)

I need to see Ruby solo a monster grim with her new understanding of her semblance. Also red like roses sound design gave me chills

My favorite fight scene in all of RWBY. In my opinion if this is the End, it was done extremely well. Volume 9 was my favorite and The Cat Most Curious is my favorite character of the series.

funny how they made a call back to red like roses, this will be the day and have ruby look at the screen aka the viewers and say "thank you" and have the blacksmith say "not where, but _when_ you are needed most"

Not sure if anyone else caught it, but they did something extremely clever. Her opening combo is nearly identical to the one she used waaaaay back in the red trailer, just a bit sped up and refined.

Ah, they remembered that Ruby’s semblance is OP! Excellent.

Me getting chills when her theme kicks in 😭

Something I noticed with this scene. Love that it replays the theme for 'Red like Roses' but the lyrics for the start are different. It started with "Red like roses fills my dreams, and brings me to the place you rest" Now its just "Red like roses fills my dreams", omitting the part about what her mother's death made her feel. Not out of spite or disrespect, but because Ruby has now moved on, accepted herself as Ruby and no longer following the shadow of her mother. Now the song can truly be about Ruby. That's who she is now.

It took them a season of trauma to finally have hyper fight scene

0:53 Besides the cat pun. This was an amazing fight to watch and Red Like Roses Part 3 was chef’s kiss. I can not wait for the Volume 9 soundtrack and volume 10.

I feel that they should have doubled down on Ruby being back to full power by having her arrive just as the others auras broke, she then solos the cat, giving us a clear look at how powerful she really is now. Don't get me wrong I like the team combo as well, but I think having her return then save the day single-handedly would have been a better look at her capabilities.

This whole episode was so inspirational, filled my heart right up

Pretty interesting how some of the Atlas fleet is still around I thought it'd have all been destroyed I also noticed Amity is back so Pietro and Maria aren't just like chilling in the stratosphere like we thought they would be

And then Ruby and her team never discuss to everyone what happened to them and their adventure they went through because they easily forget everything. Remember Sun and Neptune? (“Who?” Everyone will ask.)

This was actually pretty good

So this is a theory that I saw on crunchyroll, I think Alex is the Smith, because she wanted to stay behind to fix what she broke, so she helps remake thinks that need to be fixed and its why she had the dagger and fixed Jaun back to what he was before the rusted knight Also having the trailer music from Red, made me cry...

They used a really good trick here that Bungie's old music team used to use in their compositions. I can't remember what Marty O'Donnell called it, but it's the idea of using musical arrangents and melodies familiar to the listener in new peices to act as a callback to previous work and to drive a greater emotional reaction to the music. They did it especially well with the start of Red Like Roses Part III and the end of the season there with the main melody from This Will Be The Day

this is THE BEST 2 minutes and a half rwby has given us at the very least since volume 3 peak rwby

As much as I loved the lesson, which is learning to love yourself and that all you need is your best, I was hoping Ruby would get a new look and a weapon upgrade after the constant teasing of Summers Axe But all is well that ends well :)

I love the relationship Ruby and Weiss have, happy to see Ruby like besties reunited, they rlly are besties and i love how that relationship grew as they got older. Not to mention how they kinda hated each other the first Volume lol😅😅😅

This volume felt soooo short. I liked how we know a bit more about the gods. And I'm impressed that... esentially... they were created by the blacksmith so she is like a overlord over them, like a superior godess, and now we don't know where she came from. The new lore of they coming from the ever after tells us a little foreshadow of the show ending, I imagine they will return to their home back again, after whatever needs to happen happens. Edit: And btw she seems to be kinda overseer since she knew about the past of suhmmer rose even if she wasn't there at all, just by looking at the weapon.

I still dont like how Rwby constantly builds up interesting problems for their characters only to solve them in an instant. First it was Yangs PTSD, than Jaunes self worth problems and lastly Rubys personality crisis. We spent most of the volume building up the last two only to have Jaunes problem be solved in an instant with the Stone thingies arriving and him going "Welp guess I didnt just witness the people I tried to protect for the last decade die" and same with Ruby who was struggeling with her role as leader until she finally snapped, with her problem vanishing because her dead mother once said she doesnt care what Ruby is or does. Bet RWBY would also fix depression by saying "dont be sad".

I loved this scene as well as the development of Ruby shifting into a more sure version of herself after so much chaos, but as I was watching this scene there was one particular line that just made me cringe. It's when she comes back and Jaune says that she knew what she needed to be all along. LIKE WHAT. She literally just had an entire arc of Ruby *finding* herself and feeling as if she was lost and *didn't know* what she needed to be. I'm sorry Jaune, but for me, you kinda just undermined what she went through- While I feel like we needed part of the line where he says that she knew what she needed to be, I don't think I needed the add on- But of course, it is only my opinion. The scene was great!!!

Red like roses part 3, bet you did not recognize that is the song playing (Guide My Way is the official name of the song meant to throw people off)

Amazing as this scene was, let's not forget what it took for Ruby to go through all of this... mess. She killed herself. She. KILLED. HERSELF. And this was casually glossed over by having NONE of her teammates, or even Yang, question her about it. Common sense says to learn from your mistakes to prevent repeating them. Well if team RWBY doesn't want Ruby to kill herself again, they should *really* start by asking Ruby about all of the whys that made her reach her breaking point. Even before she did all that they didn't ask her if she was okay or what was bugging her. They just took her lashings and stayed quiet. That's not a team, hell that's not even a family.

Love this fight scene. It's like Ruby's fighting style reverted back to what it was during the Red trailer: making use of the recoil for added momentum on her swings. Actually, I'd even daresay say that this feels exactly like the Red trailer. I hope the animators consistently keep up her fighting style in volume 10. This really is a wonderful tribute to Monty.
