One time a guy SOS flared on Fatalis, then urged all 3 of us not to go in, because he was trying to solo a max-scaled Fatalis WITH INSECT GLAIVE. He damn near ran out the clock, but he did it, cartless. You can beat ANY monster, in ANY way in this game, with enough skill and determination.

Doing this solo is actually my preferred way. No people that I could potentially bother by carting and no people that bother me by carting, win/win situation xD. And if you don't hit the elemental threshold, no problem, you can take 3 of those before failing.

Even if I hate the Escaton Judgement mechanic, I'd honestly say Alatreon has amongst the best attack telegraphs and hitbox in the game. The combination of different sound and windups it makes have been seared into my brain.

Moral of the story is that if you're bad at the game the monsters that are purposefully made to be hard are going to be extra hard for you. Most players like that redditor are probably used to mindlessly swinging their weapons at the bootyholes of monsters while the good players do most of the damage for them.

Fighting Alatreon for the first time, I listened to the NPC dialogue, and switched from my blast weapon to an elemental frost weapon. "You can't weaken it with that element" FML

so World was my first monster hunter. shocker there, right? whenever I fought a new monster I'd dedicate the fight to being solo, so if I ever end up fighting it with other people I can carry my own weight and keep up. Alatreon was definitely an uphill battle. so was Fatalis. but give the fights enough time and anyone can overcome them, it's just a matter of figuring it out. there was one time a guy was trying to trash talk me for whatever reason to a degree he started going through my profile. he saw my solo clear screenshots of Alatreon and (probably? I can't remember when this was) Fatalis and he immediately said "oh nvm I'm not gonna back talk that" and it sorta made me look back at all that I've done throughout my journey in World and feel more confident in both my own ability, and everyone else. seriously, if you're having troubles with a quest, just dust yourself off because those palicoes are not gentle when they bring you back to camp, and keep trying. quest failure isn't something to be ashamed of, it just shows that you have more room to improve and become an even greater Hunter.

I can understand GS or Gunlance mains complaining that the elemental checks are siginficantly harder to meet with their weapons. I can understand someone thinking that Fatalis' damage output is a bit overtuned when compared to the rest of the game. But too fast?? Fatalis is one of the slower monsters in the game, probably only outpacing Vaal Hazaak and phase one of Shaara. Alatreon is very similar to Kushala in terms of speed, and Kushala was the second slowest of the four elders of the base game. And don't get me started on "Elemental weapons don't allow me to express myself in my build" like bro, you go on the quest, and you hit the monster; express yourself in your playstyle; noones gonna judge you by your build as long as the monster dies! But if you fail it over and over, and blame the game for it, people will look at your build, and see that you don't follow the opportunities the game gives you. Alatreon is such a well designed fight. A veried moveset that can be learned if paying attention, and a mechanic that forces you to stay on the offense. The arena is circular, so the monster can't push you into awkward corners, it has ledges to mount or play aireal and walls that allow you wallbang of you mind your positioning. Aside from tracking, every mechanik that Monster Hunter excels at is present. I feel rewarded for such a fight, and I will never understand the hate.

I don't understand why people complaining about his fight, literally just use a elemental weapons according to the certain active mode and then you're good to go

If my memory is correct, it wasn’t the fight itself that made it frustrating for me, it was that everyone and they’re mother said I needed to use the MR Kulve Taroth weapons but I’d missed the event so didn’t have them. I even got kicked from hunts several times because I didn’t have one equipped.

When I'm in the mood of helping others with alatreon, and see the fkin lightbreak weapon, I'll just do it solo alatreon instead.

When Alatreon was released, I legit solo farmed it cause it was easier than dealing with these people that would only complain instead of playing the game. I was using SnS.

Sometimes I see the words "lightbreak" in the sos flares. this monster highlights the greatest flaw of 5th gen monster hunter, the press flare button and hope someone knows what they're doing to carry you.

So many times when people complain about difficulty they’re just admitting to the fact that they lack patience and or get frustrated / mad easily. I’ve definitely gotten frustrated at souls like games before, and monster hunter as well. But instead of trying to defend an ego made of glass and complain on the internet by just saying “game bad” I use that frustration to learn the game. People who say “skill issue” are on the opposite side of this coin. They have inflated egos, and just devolve the conversation further. You develop skill by practicing. some things are easier for others, but you can still reach their level if you want to practice. Whining and complaining because your ego got hurt is just you stunting your own growth as a player or any other skill in real life. The human brain does a lot of self sabotaging in the guise of “self preservation”.

i've always liked small channel 'proving you wrong in a video game' type videos. when bigger channels do this kind of thing it becomes this big production with charts and calculations and with the background understanding that of course you can do it.. you don't have a job and you have 10k hours in the game.... anyways gj. i hate reddit (unless i need to learn something about how to fix my clothes dryer or something.. then it is a lifesaver)

Escaton Judgment remains as divisive as ever, but honestly. If you struggle that hard with meeting elemental checks, just use feline insurance and the highest damage raw build you can find. Yes, it's difficult, but it's doable within 3 carts. Even on some of the lowest damage weapons in the game.

The opening reddit post was some weapons grade copium, good lord. I've solo'd Alatreon somewhere within the ballpark of 300+ times at this point purely for the love of the hunt. Outside of the first dozen solo runs I did to make sure I understood the fight I didn't/ still don't ever bother with trying for constant topples or wall bangs, I just hit the damn monster with the pointy hot/cold stick until it dies. The fight's incredibly fair but also very punishing if you make a mistake.

I get the feeling that a lot of the people complaining saw Alatreon has at least one star weakness to dragon at all times and used that. I can say firsthand that trying to clear Escaton with dragon element is MISERABLE. Your best dragon hitzone for half of each encounter is practically nonexistent (2 in both Fire and ice active - so no ele damage) and then when you’re at dragon active it jumps up to painfully mid (14) Tldr don’t use dragon against alatreon, just use the element that counters the starting phase and break horns, I promise it’s not as hard as it sounds

Also beat him solo Twice with Hammer, was a hell of torture to achieve it.

It’s funny I mained LS and gunlance and when I hit a wall on a hard monster I would whip out the great sword and draw attack them to death. Was a pretty good way of learning the fight

I did my FIRST Alatreon solo because I didn't have friends who would/could do it with me and I hate playing with randoms in games by principle. Took me about 40 attempts with LIGHT BOWGUN, but I got it. Partbreaker, Special Ammo Boost, and the pure Lunastra LBG gave me access to both Rapid Fire and Ice on the same weapon. It was a study on simply not getting hit and never missing, but I pulled it off and grabbed my absolute favorite weapon in the game, the Alatreon LBG with every single elemental rapid fire. Now all I do on MHW is help friends or do SoS's with another friend who reached endgame.

My friends been daring me to solo atatreon after soloing fatty for the first time and because I know how much I still sucked (still suck) at the game, I refused to use elemental weapons. the only thing i dislike about alatreon is it forces an elemental DPS style- not all weapons excel in that (greatsword especially). i never personally had issues with alatreon using bow but i will definately admit its just a skill issue that i cant do it with other weapons solo. still more fun than rajang tho- anything is more fun than rajang, (even if rajang is easier)

That’s purely a skill issue on the redditor’s part. I lost my data a awhile ago and decided to limit myself to only using HBGs for my new save and I beat everything ( excluding kulve/safi ) solo, even did fatalis.

I get why people don't like the fight, because a lot of times you can't use your favourite weapon and have to use some elemental one instead, plus certain moves are way worse to use. But at the same time so many players are braindead and don't even bother to listen to the NPCs. I like to play pierce HBG against Alatreon since I can always end the fight shortly after the first judgement, but randos are so difficult to rely on to get the topple so most of the time I just use my DBs instead. Which I don't mind, but when I have HunterPie on I can see how often players absolutely got carried through the special assignment. They don't even crack 10 DPS when you need like 30+ to finish in time before the judgements kill you.

The worst thing on internet is that it gives voice to people that are completely wrong to say something stupid, I'm not talking abou you but about the guy saying that alatreon is a desing mistake and nobody dares to solo

My only complaint about Alatreon is flying so much the way he does is kind of a shit design. Not all weapons are designed to hit high consistently, and yes I know about the smoke bomb trick, but kind of boring to have to do it. Anything else it's fine.

I had a longsword build exclusively for this guy but then I tried hammer (my actual main) and managed just fine and survived two escatons. Now I have both fire and ice hammer builds and I can finally ditch longsword.

World arguably has the highest skill floor in the entire series due to the fact that it doesn't have stiff controls and jank hitboxes. If you want actual game issue go play the older installments.

tl;dr Reddit skill issue. Learn fight, don't be stupid. Advice can be good, but do it your own way to spite Reddit. I originally played World's story with two buddies, one who had already beaten the game four times over and just made a new save (He was using CB, I'm a GS user and our other buddy who was also new like me used LS) made me think the game was fairly easy. Then my internet went out for nearly a month and I spent half that time fighting Barioth solo, realizing I was pretty crap at the game, and proceeded to learn how to actually use Greatsword beyond unga bunga TCS skip. The other half was me running through Iceborn while occasionally stopping to go fight Nergigante again (loved fighting him so much that I genuinely lost count and had to check my hunting manual to see how many times I killed it) And now I'm being given my patience check with Alatreon, having to watch and study him more than I did with other monsters which I just sorta learned as they hit me so I could figure out where to shoulder bash. Alatreon is very much forcing me to reassess how I learn attack patterns in this game and it's honestly pretty fun (fuck firing SOS on Alatreon btw, did it once and they all carted immediately.)

I'm a switchaxe main, but today I've seen a guy solo extreme behemoth and alatreon with the long sword and both were so damn cool. I'm relatively new to this game and love my switchaxe but now every other weapon seems cooler now lol

yes, alatreon is hard, but he is basically one of the last monsters in the game, so it's normal for him to be hard, plus the element thing is pretty unique. i'm not a good player, i'd say that i'm at best average, yet i soloed each monster in the game (besides Safi-jiiva cuz safi is a pain in solo)

Yeah, as someone who has beat Alatreon with every weapon except HBG solo (slap stick gunlance was shockingly effective), with a few pure raw kills just to see if it was possible, people who complain about Escaton have barely any idea of what they are talking about. That lack of understanding goes a long way to explain why Alatreon is manhandling them on a regular basis. All you need to do is stay calm, maintain a reasonable level of offense, and know your openings damn well so you can take full advantage of them. Playing passively and relying on health augment to squeeze out a win after 40 minutes won't work on this one.

As an LS main with about 800 hours on the weapon, you did very well for a weapon you don't know. I'm guessing unlike me, this isn't your first MH game or you have 800 hours on your 5th least played weapon. As per helmbreaker...
