Fighting Depression with Bible Journaling (Psalm 38) 

Monica, thank you for this message. I have a very close friend who was just diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. She is a brilliant artist, but knew nothing about Bible Journaling. Today I took her the Inspire Bible, a beginner journaling kit and a Bible Journaling book. It was such a blessing to see her moved to tears, realizing that she could join her two great lives, God and art. Tomorrow I am going to share this scripture and your video with her. I thank God that with His prompting and your sharing I am able to encourage her in her walk with the Lord.

I really enjoy your videos not only for the message but because in them I see your love for the word. Its not about all the products and stickers and kits its about Him! Thank you for showing us that we don't need much to make a beautiful page! So glad I found your channel!❤

Thank You for sharing. Depression is real. Thank God, the Lord is with us during this season and we will overcome! It is only for a season. I to am currently going through this season, and I am clinging to His word. I will keep you in prayer. You are the 3rd crafter I have read about this week who is battling depression . Keep them in prayer and remember the Lord knows their name. Stay in His word!

It's not only OK that you share about your struggles with depression, it is appreciated! I, too, struggle with depression. I see a psychiatrist regularly and am on anti-depressants, which do help a lot. However, I am going through an unexpected and unwanted (at least on my part) divorce and am struggling to not fall into another deep depression. (Last time I did, I spent two years in bed, gained about 70 lbs. and got hooked on prescription pain killers. ( But don't worry, I am now 4 yrs clean! Praise God! I have recently lost about 30lbs but that's due to all the stress and heartbreak.)) So, thank you for sharing, I feel less alone in my depression battle. I pray, thank and praise (a very important, pre-emptive action), our heavenly Father you are doing better. I love the beautiful Bible journal page and thank you so much for these videos. Looks so beautiful! Love the wood look of the paper. My husband is going trough depression, he is a non-believer, i know he needs the Lord, but maybe one day he will see the light. I am not pushing any pressure on him, that wouldn’t be right. I hope you feel better now, i think the bible and God can help us with any situation. God bless you.

Today is 2/6/2018. Due to an illness in my family, sleep has been less than needed for four nights. Gloomy weather adds to my struggle today BUT GOD let me see this TODAY....right on time. Now on to my Bible. Thank you for your honesty. Truth is what brings freedom.

I needed this video at this moment. It's wonderful how God will use videos like this to help me. I'm working at a job where most of my coworkers are much much younger than my 55 year old self and for some reason I feel they all hate me and treat me with disrespect so this morning I pull out the bible and read Psalm 38 not knowing what it was going to say then I stumbled upon your video. My depression is still very heavy now as I get ready for work but I know that God will hear my sigh...Thank you

Thank you for sharing and the encouragement. Dark seasons can seem overpowering but remembering that God is with us is key. My current season is filled with darkness and I know that my one true light is my savior.

Your journaling is beautiful, even more so is your honesty and faith. I truthfully feel the Lord brought me to this video. I'm struggling a lot with depression and anxiety too. But then I felt like I wouldn't be right to go and try to make pretty things if I feel this down. Thank you for sharing. I needed to hear what was on your heart.

Thank you for being so REAL! Many people believe that as Christians we do not experience anxiety, depressions, sorrow, and crisis. That is far from the truth these conditions and life events are no respecter of persons. Even Elijah experienced depression 1 Kings 19. The Lord knew the Elijah's desperation and rescued him. God's grace restored him and He will do the same for you, me, and many others suffering from these conditions. Blessings to you! xo

I know of course that I'm not the only one that suffers from it, but sometimes, I think that no one could possibly feel this yucky. So today while bible journaling, I needed art inspiration. Monica, thank you. I came to a realization a couple of weeks ago that I am "eating my depression". My doctor gave me something to reduce my appetite and I still ate. Realized I "emotionally eating" and now seeking to quash this, Bible journaling is a big help and I love your videos.

Thank You for sharing this verse. For some reason I've not noticed it before. I appreciate your openness about depression. I've struggled for years, yet I couldn't say anything. I was growing up in a climate of Christians don't have depression, that it was a lack of faith. It was over 40 years before I found help, and only because I had a major breakdown at work. i'm so thankful for their intervention, God is Good. Thank you for bringing this verse to me. Watched you video this evening to hear you speak of depression. I’ve battled depression for a few years. No one talks about it, people you tell or mention it to purport to care but in the end they have their own issues to deal with. It’s nice to read the comments on your page because they do sound genuine and I pray they are. I am new to bible journaling. I’ve ordered everything I could afford, and I have so much stuff I am overwhelmed. This week coming in I am going to begin reading Illustrated Faiths 100 Days of Bible Promises. I am going to write the daily scripture from the You Version app and pray God gives me something to journal in my bible. I do not have a method set up as of yet, but I’m trying. If you have any suggestions for me, I would be grateful! Meanwhile, may the God of all things abide over you and bring you comfort! In Jesus name, amen! Thank you for sharing your talent!

Thank you for sharing both your page and your story. After the death of my brother, I battled a season of depression that I thought would never end. But it left me with physical issues, making sure I did not forget its darkness! Like you, I sunk myself into the words of the Lord, and after five long years, I honestly feel that my season of depression has ended. I once again feel happy. I will keep you in my prayers, Monica, but I want you to know that seasons of depression do end. You are wise to seek counsel, but as you know, God is the healer of our hearts. He will use this season of depression in you to do great and mighty works through you. He already is as you share your pain with us knowing that there is likely someone walking where you walk. I don't know you personally, but I am your sister connected through Jesus. And because I have suffered depression, I can sympathize with you. I know this is an older video but it was very helpful for me today. I am struggling with depression and purpose. I just got started in bible journaling and I was hesitant to glue stuff or stickers but I am encouraged to give it a try. Thanks. This is now a verse I will have on my wall from now on.

I have been feeling very convicted lately that is is very important for Christian women to share their struggles. I heard someone say recently about living "authentic, open and transparent" and it has stuck with me....if we were more open about our real life trials other women wouldn't have to struggle trying to pretend they have it all together and feeling like something is wrong with them. God never wastes a hurt, so I. Sure you have blessed someone's walk today by sharing!

Thank you for sharing not to many people talk about their depression which is something very important now. I also have the same condition and it's not easy it's a fight everyday not to let it take over but I find that a lot of praying and reading the word helps and distract me. So thank you fir your very awesome video. I will keep you in my prayers🙏🏻

Monica, this is a great video, and I can hear your pain as you talk....I don't know just the exact circumstances you are going thru, but "I have been there"....my whole life has been one of ups and downs, some very deep downs, with depression...the last one lasted about 8 or 9 years, and it was ONLY GOD that brought me out of it.......there were times during that period that I was hearing deamon voices telling me to kill myself, and I was in and out of the hospital 5 or 6 times in those years..... now, I fight daily, fight those feelings of depression....you can do it...WITH GOD'S HELP!!!

It is interesting how the Faithful are attacked by Satan...as we do our journaling we need to command all evil spirits to leave our lives in Jesus' name! You are amazing and your healing touch is so special. Thank you for all you do!...and share....

I’m so sorry! I know from personal experience that depression is awful! God is good and He has you! He showed me a couple of things over the past couple of years that I will share. Vitamin D is super important! If you are like me, you do not spend enough time in the sun to create enough of your own so pick some up and take it if you aren’t. The doctor should test your blood and find out how much you need. I also have felt so much better since I stopped eating gluten. Weird, I know, but having fought depression most of my life, and finding no help in exercise, I stopped eating gluten to convince my child who was diagnosed with celiac disease that eating gluten free wasn’t hard and we could find good tasting food. I had no idea it would help me. Hope this helps someone else who may be struggling.
