The Tuskegee Wesley Foundation led the effort to plant a community garden on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 on the campus of Tuskegee University. The student planned and student operated garden is being planted to bring awareness to and address food insecurity issues in Macon County. The garden is a partnership with Tuskegee Tuskegee University. Bonnie Plant Farm is a major sponsor and Master Gardener Lee Thomas is mentoring the novice gardeners.
The garden will allow Tuskegee University students from a variety of backgrounds to learn about gardening, healthy food choices, food deserts, meal planning and care for God's creations and resources. Produce from the garden will be given to students and the local food bank.
