It's ridiculous down here. You have to pay london prices if you live near a station with a train into london without none of the benefits of being near london.
I think you're a bit confused. It's not the developments which are the issue, it's the influx of people from out of town. The developments actually lower the cost of housing in Manchester and the displacement would be much greater if they didn't occur. Glad to clear this confusion up for you.
Exactly, the spikes and ‘specially designed’ benches are awful but it’s everything behind that too it’s so awful 😤 it’s as if some higher ups would rather see people die than solve the problem
In cities, it's not uncommon for tiny metal or concrete spikes to be installed in sheltered spaces, like near shop entrances or offices, to drive away rough sleepers. As for benches, if they are designed in weird curvy shapes with sloped seating it's for the same purpose - to not leave room to sleep on. Even having arm rests can achieve this.
I volunteered at Mustard tree in Manchester helping the homeless and the poorest people in society. I really enjoyed it helping and meeting new people.
I'm a volunteer at the Mustard Tree as well! Been working in the warehouse for 6 months now and I love making a difference to those who are less fortunate.
His own place and then a job will do wonders for his mental health issues, sounds like he doesn’t need nor wants the pills that will just turn him into a zombie. Good story of someone that needs a bit of help rather than just a hand out. Would love to see a follow up on him in a years times.
We're industrializing the moon yet we still have empty homes all over the planet with families who would give anything to have a roof over they're heads. And we call ourselves 'civilized' 🤡🌍
@Tent Ringer The UK's population density is distorted by Scotland and NI. England's population density is 432/km^2. For comparison, India's is 411/km^2 and Japan is 333/km^2.
@@tentringer4065 Have you seen Tony Blair's property portfolio it's in the millions bit too mention John Prescotts Cheshire home and Gordon Brown's highland estate. Some of my best mates are Labour party members but own holiday homes and very nice cars. The notion that it's just the blue voters that are wealthy and privileged is a fallacy and dare I say jealously of the ner do wells.
@@mark63424able Yeah I worked in Japan.and whilst Tokyo is very high density. The outer prefecture s and smaller towns had lots of detached homes less crowded than England.
Manchester City Council, which is ran by Labour, caused this... Only caring about investors and not citizens of the city. What can we expect when we've had the same leader of the council since 1996? Labour also hold 91 of the 96 seats, which means that there's barely an opposition to hold them accountable. "Democracy"...
Prague is like Venice a beautiful city only for Tourists or rich people who want to live in the centre. Locals are meant to service the two groups and leave when work ends..
Why do we hate success and progress in this country? Why are people who have done good and made money hated for their success and wealth. Without the wealth creators you won't have jobs and redevelopment. If a developer has reduced crime and criminality in the area through investment and development then is that not good? If you are homeless, thus no fixed address, always moving about, no family connections or friends to depend on in the area then why stay there and excacerbate your situation. Surely it won't make a difference to you if you were to relocate to another area where there is affordable housing and a better chance for you to be rehoused in a less in demand area. Beggars can't be choosers as the old saying goes. We need to stop hating success and and ride the wave of regeneration as it is what creates success.
If the crime is reduced by kicking people out of their homes and forced into homelessness then that's a bad thing.the main problem is that most of these people would happily relocate and have a roof over their head just that there isn't enough houses.
Manchester is a industrial Northern town, it might be working class. But Southerners are taking the heart and soul out of the place after wreaking their own cities with the exact same actions. Ppl aren't moving away they are just being forced to live with family etc on overcrowded estates, the Southerners up here are just victims waiting to happen. They get robbed and battered all the time.
Condition of his tenancy-can’t allow people to stay over. His housing officer told him that. Properties like this are a stepping stone to a more permanent tenancy and have strict tenancy conditions.
@@Northstar29 this is correct, also the narrow gate where Michael was still staying would not allow any nights out of there or he would lose his bed, then he would start the whole process again. having to register as homeless and register for housing and wait wait wait wait its very devious. Michael has sadly since passed.
Can someone explain to me how we can have 500k net immigration each year and deal with lack of housing? We can never build enough social housing..its not immigration.. just a question for a solution.
We need to get rid of these benefit system. I'm paying for this and yet I won't get anything in return! If you had kids when you had no plan of housing them or their future, the state should relocate them to foster families.
