I would really like to get one of these, but I would prefer to have one that doesn't have a standard looking AR upper either. I would like the upper to look pretty much traditional but have the gas block and tube hidden inside of a wood handguard. I think it would be fun to take it out into the deer woods and nobody be able to tell it apart from a standard hunting rifle but you could still put in 30-round P-mags and do business if need be.
Great looking rifle I’ve always wanted a conversion of ar type upper platforms on a more traditional lower or butted stock...I hate the fact it has any play in the receiver I hope you can get that fixed up!
Hey man I know this is an old video but “accu wedges” got my receivers nice and snug. I’ve been thinking about doing a very VERY similar setup and I stumbled across this vid. I was thinking about a left handed Gibbz receiver? I didn’t know about the charging handle popping back but lefty stuff might help🤷♂️
@@trashpandaoutdoors772 thanks man you've saved me a lot from a big headache since there isn't a bunch of info on the lower online. One more thing though that's the gibbz g4 upper right?
If I wanted to convert to 7.62X39 on this, would I have to change out the bolt along with the barrel and magazine or can I use the same 5.56 bolt it came with? And if so does Firelite make a BCG for larger calibers?
Well i would avoid 7.62 x 39 in this rifle. You might as well build one on an AR platform, or build this one in 300 blackout. This is coming from experience since i just built a 7.62x39 AR. It required a heavy hammer spring and enhanced firing pin. And yes you have to change the bolt and use a curved mag. Barrel as well. 2 thing you are stuck with on this rifle is the buffer system, and the fire control group. 300 blackout only requires a new barrel and is 7.62x35 (i think). I could see larger calibers being done as long as it fits in the AR15 platform(223, 300aac, 6.5 grndel, 450, 458, 50 beowulf)
I'm building one in 7.62x39 right now. Once the weather clears and my irons come in I'll get an opinion. From what Fightlite tells me I shouldn't have any trouble. All you need to replace is the bolt face, firing pin and barrel. I run an adjustable gas block because stock almost everything is way over gassed. Now I have heard people say you need a strong hammer spring. I've never upgraded mine. They are budget builds bottom of the barrel cheap and I've never had a light strike with any of the ammo I've ran. I'll let you know any issues I run into. Great video also! Going to do this soon.
@@CHEETACONDA yeah i never had any light strikes till i got into the 7.62x 39 stuff. It was either tula or wolf steel case. I might be turning this one into a 458 socom soon.
So how do you remove the original stock off of the lower? I have taken the nut off inside the stock and the buffer spring is out, but I can’t figure out how to take it dow the rest of the way. I am going to put a Remington stock I got from Numrich on mine.
Thank you! Got it off. I’m thinking the Rem stock I got is actually a bit small and the cheek rest isn’t what I like. I will probably go the Boyd’s route. Yours looks more like what I am gunning for!
