It's been so cathartic to see things going so completely sideways for Fig with the way she prioritizes chaos and nonsense over self-reflection and self-care. She'd so much rather be anyone than herself, and she'd so much rather help anybody rather than make any decisions that benefit her. She only wants to go to Bard class because she knows not attending will disappoint her teacher!
Saying “im so fucked” and showing clear discomfort while the Teacher makes a decision nonetheless is the most high school The fact it turned out to be good for her is even funnier
It's also super in character, because the whole issue with the MCAT is that Porter thinks he knows what's best for Gorgug. He signs the form even though Fig doesn't want him to because Porter is so sure that she is going to come around to the fact that he was right.
The looks of realization from Zac and Siobhan as they realize what's about to be proposed fractions of a second before Emily starts describing her 80's teen comedy movie bit are priceless.
I really really love how this season is turning Emily's tendency to multiclass in almost EVERY season (I think apart from Starstruck, but I might be wrong) into a character arc for Fig 😂😂
I think Porter giving that outrageous command to Gorgug was a test to see if he’d get mad and tell Porter to go fuck himself or something. A test Gorgug failed.
Totally. Kind of reminds me of the one scene from Star Trek Deep Space Nine where klingon General Martok confronts Alexander, Worf's son, over why Alexander is on his ship if he clearly doesn't have the heart and drive to be a klingon warrior. To which Alexander gives only prefab slogans and cagey, half baked reasons for why he can't talk about it. Which at this Martok professes his frustration and disgust at Alexander's answers and that he does not need Alexander on his ship. Whereupon they then have the following exchange: Alexander: "All I ask is a chance to prove myself!" Martok: "I just gave you one! And you failed."
Porter gets a lot of flack for not signing Gorgug's MCAT, but I can kinda see where he's coming from. If a student is doing poorly in your class and then comes to you asking if they can add another totally unrelated thing that would involve way more work, it would make sense to be like "no, you need to do better in your existing classes before I sign off on adding something else."
i’d agree if i didn’t think porter was grading too much based on his own idea of what a barbarian should be. like, gorgug does really well in fights, he’s able to rage, he’s crazy strong. porter is too much about his specific idea of rage that he’s unable to realize that gorgug was a perfectly good barbarian before he got angry about his parents’ sex toys.
@@he.said.teenjiejer but i think this was expounded upon in the episode where gorgug talked about feeling like he needed special permission to rage. "perfectly good barbarian" isnt enough for an MCAT to be signed, they explained this as well. you have to be exceptional to officially multiclass, and gorgug proved he CAN be an exceptional barbarian, but he was definitely holding himself back from raging. brennan even talked about how a lot of what gorgus accomplished was due to his artificing, not trusting his rage. porter definitely went about it the wrong way, but i think he had a point with pushing gorgug to allow this part of himself to be set free, not having to keep his emotions in check all the time.
