As the new season of figure skating is starting (Junior Grand Prix Series will begin from mid Aug peeps!!), we are preparing a series of inspiring redemption stories recap. What stories had happened on ice that left an impression on many figure skating fans’ mind over the years? Let’s find out our selection of the first redemption story - Yuzuru Hanyu Grand Prix 2014 journey of recovery from injury!
"I never feel like a champion. I am always a challenger." You challenge your rivals, JSF, ISU and yet you are by far THE most popular skater ever. The GOAT. Now you challenge the human limit. Go and get your 4A Yuzuru. Then you will walk as the untouchable KING
videos like this always remind us that yuzu is just a human being, but then he overcomes it like an extraordinary being!!! his comebacks are always the best
You didn't mention that Yuzuru was originally coming back from a back injury at the 2014 World Championships what makes him withdraw from Finland Trophy and had a warm-up accident on his first comeback in the China Cup. This terrible injury. His career is full of injuries because he always breaks his limits fearlessly Yuzuru is inspiring
Yuzuru Hanyu. Not just a great athlete but a great human being. No wonder so many people strive to follow his lead. He's amazing. He's worthy of being the role model of so many people. Worthy of all the admiration. He's one of those rare people who are born once in every few generations/centuries.
The way he thinks is remarkable! I wish he will speaks fluent english so people will get benefit from his wisdom. I hope many will listen to his japanese interview with eng subs. Wise and genius yuzuru!
Yuzuru never blamed his injuries for the failure to perform well. Instead, I believe that this is what he talked to himself, to self-reflect, admit his weakness, identify what he did wrong, and find the way to improve his ability. He never spoiled his spirit by previous successes. Despite of injuries and surgeries, in addition to his asthma, he always finds the challenge. His discipline: challenge his own limit, exceed the limit, then find another challenge, overcome it to find the next limit.
Instead of yuzuru using his injury as an excuse to the low points he got, he accepted that it was his weakness that needed to be improved on. Wow. True definition of "No excuses"
Yuzuru is so strong. Imagine starting off your senior career and having a crash that could've altered your skating or ended your career. Thinking about coc14 hurts my heart but he grew so much from them and I'm so proud :)
The story didn't just end here. In December 2014, he won the 2nd GPF title, won the 3rd Japan National title and then had a surgery immediate after the Japan National.
Update: recently Yuzuru Hanyu stated that after colision he lost his vision and his memory was confuse! ***Yuzuru injuryes caused by that colision: ankle, ribs, elbow, chin, head and abdomen. That abdomen injury acutised a congenital issue who gave him almost time pains there. After that colision, docs discovered he was sufering by a congenital "urachal remnant"- he didn't know about- that UR being responsible for his chronic pains in abdomen. So he urgently went surgery to fix that!!!! He was serious phisically affected and ppl wanted he lands quads! The scar on his chin was still visible!!! That guy is a fenomen of enduring and going forward no matter what!!! 💖🥰⚘
Yuzu is an amazing athlete and is inspirational in every single way. Not just as an incredibly talented and extremely hardworking skater but also as the humblest person on earth. I've changed my perspectives on several things since I've started following him and feel like I've become a better person in terms of my character. I sincerely can't decide what fascinates me more, his talent and determination as a skater or his personality.
Totally agree! Not just an incredible skater, athlete, but also the way he constructs his thinking, always make us think again.. I too have become a better person thanks to Hanyu. So much admiration for the GOAT
L'evidenza e' dalla sua parte....nessun grande campione de F.S. ha fatto quello che lui sta portando avanti da quando si e' ritirato confermando di essere the King of F.S grazie per le news❤❤❤
If we will talk about Yuzu coming back after injuries we'll have a lot of histories to tell... like 2017/2018 season, coming back after a ankle injury, the first competition was the ledary Pyeongchang Olympics and he won, and the next season 2018/2019 another ankle injury... he skated injuried at the FP in Rostelocom Cup, and come back to compete at the World Championship when he did he's SB and finish second! and this are just some histories about hi's injuries... He still have Asthma! he had an asthma attack just 26 minutes before he skate the FP at the Wolrds 2021! and he still won the bronze! this men is simple the GOAT Obs: I have a lot of admiration and respect for the other skaters too! and sorry if i had some mistakes in english, i'm from Brazil :)
The way he could have said the injury made him not able to perform well and everyone would believe it but he chose to instead put it on himself as his weakness. Legend behaviour. Only him.
I feel like everyday I always discover something new about Yuzu, and every time my respect for him grows even more. He’s such an inspiration for me. Thank you so muchhh❤️
He's just simply amazing, and it was quite overwhelming how he did not want to use his injury 3 weeks earlier as an excuse for his failure in landing all the quads.
I'm on the verge of tears, I'm very happy that he did not give up and always gave his best. He says he is not perfect, but he is for me, he is a great athlete, a great artist and a great person, I am very proud of him, he is an inspiration for me, I love him so much.
Waa it's always hard to watch his 2014 coc performance. I always end up bawling but I seriously had no idea what came after that. He is crazy for performing 2 weeks after his collision and getting mad at himself that his failure wasn't because of injuries. He is too hard on himself. But I guess that's the Yuzuru we all love and he is amazing regardless
Yes he’s got so many good qualities for us to learn from! Never give excuses, never give up, always work so hard! Episode 2 coming up this coming Friday. Stay tuned 💕
Many people would accept the excuse that it might have been due to an injury they sustained prior, but Yuzu isn't like that and that's one of the reasons I admire him. 😍
Thank you. Well put together documentary - I had not seen some of the background interviews, so really well done and explains a lot of what went on in his recovery. Thank you again. Sending love to all from the UK
I'm waiting for you to talk about how he skate with his stomach hurting and bleeding for gpf 2014 and going through stomach surgery before world 2015 in this video but there's none. Maybe next video? 😂 For Yuzuru, you could actually made a video of never give up yuzuru version alone because he keeps having various problems and got badly injured in every season 😔
Thank you for your dedication on his video. He always so inspiring and I always ended up crying watching him skates 🥺 Wishing him the best for this season ❤️
Yuzu, our lives are never steady. It's always ups and downs but I know you have the right mentality for the competition. I understand that you were happy for your friends' success but felt remorse for yourself. Your time will come again as long as you keep your same menntality. I'm always believing you. You are a descendant of the Samurai Clan. Never lose your Samurai Spirit. 何時の日も 武士であること、昔も今も! ごめんなさい、侍に拘りすぎた。😝🤣
I’m sad that I find your channel very late. As a Fanyu for 5+ years, I still have a lot to learn about him&from him. Thank you very much for making great documentaries about Yuzuru and the other figure skaters. This is the only sport that I follow and love now. I’m binge watching your videos and I appreciate your hard work. Thank you very much. 💕
I've known of yuzuru for a while now but only yesterday started binge watching lots of his competitions, but now I want to know all the terminology to understand more of what is happening, if someone could give me a quick and simple lesson i'd be thankful :) also where would i watch the upcoming ISU grand prix figure skating 2021?
He confirmed these events this season: 1. Nov 12-14: NHK Trophy Tokyo 2. Nov 26-28: Rostelecom Sochi 3. Dec 9-12: GPF Osaka 4. Dec 22-26: Jnats Saitama Not sure about Olys Beijing
I strongly hope Yuzu has a partner who loves and supports him and just adores /respects him as a person .The lack of information about who he is dating is concerning. I really hope its "just " bc of what gender he prefers and not bc of him, impossible to fall in love w/ someone seriously... bc of the many attention seekers /cling-ons in His Environment... P S. my English is bad, I don't want to look like a homophobe, the opposite! I just would be very happy to know Yuzu has a partner, no matter who it is. I am just concerned that he maybe A. is not able to date her/ him in the public bc Japan is still so conversative, or B., There is noone. I don't know what is worse- A. or B. ...
