I love this bike. I use it in the campgrounds and to ride to town. It folds up small and is lightweight. I am a retired female who is tiny and I can pick this thing up no problem and get it in my van. I use it on paved paths and streets, it is not a bike to use on trails or for trick riding.

It is a great bike and love that it’s easy for you to pick up! Were you looking at anything else before you got it? I might try and take it on my local trails for fun to see how it handles.

To Disable the Throttle , maybe you can Pull The Effect Hall Sensor Out of its position then slide it back in when you want to use it. its not Practical But possible.

Despite the negative points I'd get one second hand for almost half the price. Looking at one at Carousell and seriously considering it for the small town I'm in where it's convenient to get to the groceries instead of walking or driving.

i had a fiido d1 for 1 1/2 years. it recently got stolen. i loved that bike. worth every single penny. I always said it was the best money spent in my life. it was a joy to ride it every SINGLE time. I rode it in the rain, in mud, in sand, in puddles, in snow, drove over punishing terrain, holes, bumps. I used to load it up with 30kg of shopping bags and drinks too. it was a tank! it got me to places that i needed to be fast.
@DanEscapes
@DanEscapes 2 года назад
That’s rubbish it got stolen. Did you have it locked up or a break in? They are a beast and always puts a smile on my face when I ride one. You going to replace it and if so you thinking of a different model?
@ubershredder1989
@ubershredder1989 2 года назад
@@DanEscapes yes it was locked onto a bicycle railing with a medium thickness chain, in a crowed area. I came our of the pub and it was gone, someone must have just snapped the chain with a tool in front of everyone. By-stander effect at play here. Actually, in spite of all my love for the Fiido, the one downside, is that I got lazy as hell, because it felt so good just to use the full electric mode. SO now i am just using the opportunity to get a bit fitter using a regular bike. But I sure do miss that buzz of cruising effortlessly. I might look into the fiido d4 in a couple of months. cheers

@@ubershredder1989 that’s rubbish, now a day you have to have at least two thick locks and add a tracker to your bike, especially if you pay a lot of money for one. That’s a good shout, I prefer to take my road bike out to commute as i know I’m getting some exercise. Too tempting to use the throttle n the Fiido.

@DanEscapes 10 месяцев назад
Hi Mary, firstly I’d need to ask a few questions. Is space a concern for you? Do you want to be fast? Do you want a comfortable ride or happy with a more fitness position on the bike? Personally I’m a lot faster on my road bike and it might be worth looking at a lighter ebike with normal size wheels if space isn’t a concern for you.

This bike seems perfect to take on the train, and for short rides into the city as well. Would be really helpful to know how to disable the throttle though. I don’t want to get a ticket and my bike confiscated. I live in the netherlands and to have a moped mode is illegal here.
@DanEscapes
@DanEscapes Год назад
It is a very convenient bike, what are the rules like in the Netherlands regarding e bikes? I haven’t tried disconnecting over here as they rarely stop you over in the uk, mainly if you are doing crazy speeds or on an escooter, but even now I don’t see many people getting stopped.
@Peacefrogg
@Peacefrogg Год назад
@@DanEscapes police don’t always act on it, but the rule is if it moves on its own, without you pedaling, then it’s a moped which means you need (expensive) insurance, a plate and a license. Most electric scooters, onewheels, and other contraptions could get you a big fine and you lose your vehicle if they catch you on the street.
@DanEscapes
@DanEscapes Год назад
@@Peacefrogg yeah it’s the same here, hard to police though with the fiido as it doesn’t go to fast and you can pedal with it and not use the throttle. I’ve seen a few videos a while ago of them disconnecting the throttle but can’t seem to find a good one.
@Peacefrogg
@Peacefrogg Год назад
@@DanEscapes hard to police yes. I have seen 12yo kids riding just past the cops. The kids knew to pedal along just in case and i guess the police were too busy to take a good look at their bikes. And they can’t keep up at the moment, electric bikes and scooters are all the rage now there’s just too many of them. But with my luck i can’t risk it. It’s always me they catch right at the moment when my lights run out of battery power or when i’m just on the sidewalk for 1 meter or the light turns red just when i’m under it... I am a cop magnet somehow..

@@Peacefrogg ahh that’s very frustrating when they pick you up on small stuff when there’s bigger stuff going on. It’s crazy that they are able to sell them in shops but not allowed to ride them on streets. Yeah best to play it safe and do things by the book.

IF it has a throttle so it can be ridden without pedaling it isn't illegal..it's classed as a moped. So it has to be registered with the dvla, Insured as you would a motorcycle, car etc and you must wear a helmet. I think you may need a number plate as well. I think max speed can be 28mph. And a licence. No throttle and up to a 250 watt motor with either pedal assist or pedaling with no assist and max speed 15.5 mph is legal as far as I can tell. e scooters are illegal and can only be ridden on private land. There are laws defining an ebike or moped/motorcycle which can be found on the internet..dvla or government website is best. Disconnecting the throttle might be ok..you'd be best checking with the police road traffic dept on that one. Just to be sure. Like everything nothing is ever simple is it..but if you are caught riding an ebike illegally it's the same as it would be any other vehicle. Best to know the ins and outs before you buy..
@DanEscapes
@DanEscapes Год назад
I think when people first started buying these bikes the rules were a bit unknown but now they are trying to crack down on it. Living in london either no one knows the rules or don’t care. There was a period were the police were pretty hot on stopping e scooters and e bikes with throttle (going too fast) but I think they seem to have stopped as so many people have got them. The fiidos motor and speed are fine just need to disconnect the throttle or protect to be pedalling when riding. On my road bike I can go so much faster and that was my issue with the fiido. With the small wheels and the speed of the motor I was being over taken by all the cyclists.
@ianrichardson3968
@ianrichardson3968 Год назад
@@DanEscapes This is the problem..escooters can NOT legally be used on public roads and definitely not on pavements. They are sold by many without making the legalities clear..some do print in large red letters that escooters are illegal other than on private land in Britain. Then again many advertise these small "ebikes" with small wheels and class them as an escooter...So are these "ebikes" a bike or a scooter? IF you are stopped by a Bobby you can be in a fair bit of trouble. EBikes with a throttle are classed as mopeds not bicycles. I think I read something about using the throttle AND pedaling at the same time...somewhere. And I believe they should have a number plate as you have to register the "vehicle" with the DLA they will probably give you a registration number. And a helmet is required but what type of helmet? A cycle helmet or a motorcycle helmet? If the bike has a motor with a capacity higher than 250 Watt again you are outside the law if you disconnect the throttle..the limit for an eBike that does not need to be registered is 250 Watt. The cable would need to be removed which could be difficult depending on how it connects at each end. If it were me and I can remove or if needed cut the cable off then you might be ok ..except they could say you can replace the cable any time you choose...So the throttle and bar grips would be coming off and new bar grips fitted..now there is no throttle or cable attached to the bike..or maybe a cut cable... There should be no vehicle excise duty as they are electric. As you say the police don't appear to be particularly keen with this issue..but it only takes a government directive and they will be. I suspect that could happen at some point. Ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law. Never has been. It's a bit like the idea of making cycle helmets and lights a legal requirement, the police would spend half their time pulling up people on bicycles with no helmet and/or lights. That's if many of them stopped in the first place..then we have a slow speed chase while the cyclist's legs fail him or her. And let's face it since the police became a "service" and rights got in the way..half of 'em can't run because they're overweight and/or laden down with their bat belts and everything else they have to hang on to..including their hats. Otherwise they have to retrace their steps and pick it all up..assuming it's still there. Even the fit ones can't run at 28mph can they...? Conclusion is either you make sure you know the laws and comply or ya don't. Even if those running you tube channels such as your good self were to advise on this..you would have to make sure you have it all covered correctly. But so many people simply have no clue, they think because it's an electric.."bicycle"..it's a bicycle. Not necessarily. Handy little machine though. I like ebikes..but NOT ecars or emotorcycles...Unfortunately though e this and that IS your future like it or not. Has to be unless you want your grandkids to be gasping their last breathe on a dying planet..or maybe the great grandkids.. As with everything there is so much more to what they tell us all..which is only what they want to tell us. It is far worse than they tell us.

@DanEscapes

It is in the UK as it is seen as a motorised vehicle than a bike. Will need insurance, road tax and license plate to be legal on roads. To be classified as a bike it need to only be pedal assist and capped at 15 mph.
