Fiido T1 swapping old and new controllers, for better performance

The new T1s have different controllers, which are programmed to make the bike slower.
In some cases, we can swap them for the controllers that were fitted to the original T1, and that will bring them back up to speed.

Just heard from Fiido, they're sending out a conversion cable, so I can fit the old controller to the new motor cable. I'll update when it arrives.

My new T1 is doing 24 max on assist and 32 on the the trigger so they must have done an upgrade on the new one since you got your. Thanks for the vid.

By the way, I have just had the same disaster strike on both the new and the old bike - the rear wheel nuts came lose and pulled the wire out going to the controller. So the bike has a problem with keeping back wheel nuts tight - please check frequently folks!! With the new bike there was thankfully a 9 pin connector which came undone - easily fixed. But in the old bike it reefed the entire cable out of the control box.

I ordered my T1 last December as the 'Lite'. This was just after the recall. Every video I saw until then, there was only the T1. I wondered if the change then was the bikes they made moving forward, and to send out as replacements. I haven't checked the website, but I don't think the Lite will be sold once their stock is sold (of the 'repaired' or reworked original frame). When I put my bike together it got electric (display came on, as well as lights) but nothing happened with the throttle. It was essentially a peddle bike. As anyone who's been a customer of Fiido, After-sales department is great at responding (customer service otherwise is not in their 'playbook'). I was sent out a new controller and what they called a 'refer', or some other name I can't readily think of at the moment. Which was the throttle/shifter and cables. I'm very grateful to @tornadogarden, without his contribution I would have felt helpless and hopeless. I first replaced the Controller. No power to the motor, sadly. After replacing the throttle/shifter piece, that was the fix. I was finally on the road. I love the bike, I wish the manufacturing was better. Thank you to everyone that posts and/or comments on these bikes, for obvious reasons, you are very helpful to this collective group that share the same love of the bike, and frustration with the associated pains!! I 'unlocked' my display/bike, and it does run with more speed. But not the 30 mph or so these bikes are proported to previously. In watching this video, I'm wondering if that Controller (I took out) is the key. In writing this, I don't think I would put it back if so, I wouldn't choose anything less 'smooth' to have the speed. That's just me. I do still have the other Controller ... 😊

@@feelthepeace In answer to your question - yes, the replacement controller was the factor to enable the higher speed. That is how I enabled the higher speed after I got the new replacement bike. The other controller will serve as a spare in case you ever need it but it is locked to 23kph(15mph). But you still have the power to climb hills etc. I suspect that speed lock is done by a chip that is programmed inside the controller(software) but I have never opened it to inspect it. The long-term solution if you wanted higher speed and full programabilty is to install a GRIN controller from Canada with it's accompanying display. But that's a bit costly(€400)

Hi enjoyed the conversation today on the shotton track hope you made it to Whitley Bay and back. Lee

Cheers Lee. Good to meet a fellow T1er. Didn't quite go to plan...slow puncture in Seaburn, so put a new tube in and thought I'd better turn around as no more spares. Got to Shotton and bang, that tube popped, so put the original one back in which lasted about quarter of a mile, then pushed the last couple of miles in the sunshine. Knackered. Still smiling though.

@@EnglishEbiker Ha I guess them Talas tyre inserts didn't work. We got to Hurburn reservoir and back no incidents. T1s are a heavy bike's especially when your pushing them ha.

@leewatson9447 I'd bought tubes that were too small, so they were over stretched. Pop! More tubes ordered and I'll try again next week. Live and learn.

I have just done mine also without wiring incompatibility problems. Also, if in future I want to order a new controller, will Fiido supply me with the fast controller? I doubt it. Si I have a third party unit lined up.

i just installed my knew controller the type with the thick black cable. the one that plugs into the motor cable but the controller doesn't work the way i excepted it to not in the same way the original controller did. the old controller that was water damaged regulated the same speed up hill as on the flat no matter what. the new controller when on assist one and two on the slightest of gradients comes to a slow crawl where OAP's with Zimmer walkers over take me. when pedalling on assist one and two on the old controller it just maintained a regular speed in all the assist modes. if i use the throttle all if fine and there is lots of power for up hills. its just when pedalling on assist one and two the motor isn't being sent the extra power it needs for up hill. even on mole hills lol. any form of a gradient and its a dead crawl almost to a point of stopping but on the flats its all good. you cant connect one of the controller plugs into the wrong place can you? is that something i have done by mistake? any suggestions welcome.

Cool colour scheme. Is it a custom pain job? If so how??

I stripped it down and took the frame and wheels etc to a powder coating place. They took the paint off and resprayed it. I put it back together. Love it. Green was nice, but bit ordinary.

So, I am looking hard at the T1 pro but I don't like the $650 use battery replacement cost. They come with just a one year warranty. That makes me nervous. How are your batteries holding up? Are you happy with the overall build quality of the Fiido T1? Would you buy them again? Do you recommend?

Did you check with Fiido if changing the controller would void the (new) warranty (for the replacement T1)?
@EnglishEbiker
@EnglishEbiker Год назад
I've emailed them to ask if they'll supply a new controller with higher speed that'll fit. Not too interested in the warranty if its not up to speed.

@@EnglishEbiker I guess answer is no? if speed is more of a priority, maybe you need a different ebike?

@@EnglishEbiker Let us know if they are able to! I like the smoothness of the new controller but the extra speed is more desirable
@EnglishEbiker
@EnglishEbiker Год назад
@@vfr1vfr2 errr...I simply want the new bike to have the same performance as the one I bought. It currently does about half the speed. Not sure why you think I should look for a different bike. I did not ask Fiido about the warranty, no. I'm sure if and when they reply to me, they'll let me know if I am being naughty.
