I think I’m going to to buy one very cool all in one. I wanted to ask you what would be a good streamer to hook up to a Topping DX9 . I think these 2 systems are a little different being ESS and the other AKM . I’ll be listening to with Dan Clark E3 ,Focal Clear OG , Focal Elex. Right now I’m using my home stereo a Rotel 1592 MKII to my Clear OGs . Very detailed video . Thank you so much for doing this what you do .

It depends on your requirements from streamer, but recently I started thinking more and more that some inexpensive android phone or tablet will be a pretty good streaming option. Convenient, feature packed and inexpensive

I'm having trouble finding a dac amp combo for the Meze Empyrean 2. I want something with xlr 4, remote capable of pausing and Bluetooth but there doesn't seem to be anything with those features under 1000. I'm not sure if something like k19, dx9 or even r9 is worth it to get those features with how easily it is to drive an Empyrean 2. I wish something like the k9 akm had a remote because it has everything else. What is your opinion on options?

unfortunately, my experience is limited, and I didn't test many popular devices, like Topping and SMSL and many others. So, just a few thoughts. 1. You can get cheaper DAC and think about remote controlling on the transport 2. FiiO's R7 is a decent offer for its price :)

Really great review of a great device. How it is in your opinion compared to k9akm or k9pro from a sound perspective. I heard r9 is very high level possibly the best from fiio devices but is it truth, do you feel it is of higher quality than k9 or m17?

I want to know the same thing. I have the k9 pro ess and I would like to know if the sound is better not only because of more amp. I can tell you that a dap will never reach desktop level and if the m17 is inferior.

@@iceabaulcenaut k9pro ess was best sounding device what i heard from fiio. I havent heard q7 and m17 that could thereticly be the same level. But i sti doubt because k9 pro ess is separate desktop device with discrete parts and electronics. And only this new r9 could be k9pro ess on steroids. But i believe author of this review could answer this question. Ofcourse these devices all are high level so differences could not be huge.

K9 AKM is pretty different in terms of signature, it's more "musical" and less monitoring, compared with R9. K9 Pro ESS is pretty close, but R9 is slightly ahead due to even more technical sound, better control and slightly more refined treble. But difference isn't huge Now I'm interested to see what we'll get with K19

@@PortaFi thanks a lot for explaining. Really interesting where k19 stands. Logically it should get the throne. When you get it , it would be really nice if you mention this in your review. Where it stands between k9pro ess, r9, m17 tier devices. Will wait for this and then will decide where to invest not small money :)

@@PortaFi Is is possible to turn the screen off in standby mode like you do with a cell without turning the device off? I'm afraid of the screen life.

@@joncruz it's not OLED, just LCD, so it's unlikely something will happened with it with time. But you can disable screensaver, and device will just turn screen off after a selected delay
