Talk about cheap special effects ! We didn't have any in Fiji then not even Chromakey. This is another of the early TV commercials I made when Fiji broadcasting began in 1991
I used to treat it as a laugh, but after watching an movie analysis from a channel called Accented Media on Who Killed Captain Alex, my mind was completely blown by the ingenuity of Wakaliwood's director.
This is such a moving piece. The delivery of the line “this parcel has to be in Suva by noon or we sunk” is one of the greatest deliveries in the history of cinema.
I remember back than during Fast and Furious 5 that this series is just getting too ridiculous and joked how one day, they're gonna be driving cars to space... and then FF9 came...
Ehhhh Ratu, I remember Toyota PNG and possibly Australia were a bit nervous about the whole thing when we showed it to them. Promising things a Hi-Lux couldn't do, like like flying or going up 90 degree hills as we stacked the camera . You wouldn't get away it with now. A lot of these concepts were written on the back of a beer coaster at Traps. Its different now but people remember it .Cheers CM
well the funny thing we had no time for props that was the watch the actor was wearing in the day . Its one of those fake rolexes you bought for about $30 with bamboo main spring and last about 6 months ! Isa Lei !
@@jo2ae No he was using the same left side hand on all the clips, like to change the gear, 4WD gear and to check the time so it's actually one of the error made by the ad.
Honestly it's way funnier than the full CGI fake reality things of today. I know (guess) it was not supposed to be funny that time, or at least not this way, but now it is ofc hehe. But the story itself was meant to be, and was funny even back then I guess :D
this humble ad I made in Fiji in about 1992 IS IN DANGER OF GOING VIRAL ~Stay safe Fiji we are thinking of with the COVID out break , Australia is not much better !! Vinaka CM
So this commercial shows that nothing stops a Toyota HiLux, not even a big jump, a river or even a closed road. Oh, what a feeling to be driving a Toyota!
@@natospysanchez8938 those are bought commercially though? just like a company buying lots of cars from an automotive company, how the vehicles are going to be used is the buyers' responsibility and not the company who makes them
@@ThomasKrKr im not saying that those Toyota’s are the responsibility of the manufacturer but if your going to talk about Toyota’s dark past you gotta mention the shit ton of technicals in the Middle East
What's funny is that that truck woulda been fine after that fall for the most part. Whistlin Diesel dropped a Toyota Hilux from a helicopter and the engine still started
What's honestly insane is the Hilux could probably survive a huge fall. That truck is easily the most durable truck ever built in the history of trucks.
exactly !!! . In the end shot we did two versions one where the father held the cake and threw it up into the air and freeze. But I never used it . It was a wedding after all , alternate endings lol
it was just me . I wrote it it shot it , directed it. bloody edited it ! it Kath Mackenzie casted it and we had about half a day to shoot ! We just churned them out ! It was such fun though ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mY5nWAiJJfs.html
This is the most *"Action-Is-Coming"* ish commercial I've ever seen xD If this commercial had been aired in Uganda, Toyota's sales would have skyrocketed there, seriously xD
Legend has it he drove that car through the ocean, through a fire, and through a building being demoed and he was still able to start it using just a spanner, hammer, and WD40
@@seekeroftheway 90s lasted for 10 years on this planet. Which means i was able to register what has happened around me by the age of 5. You were born ins late 90s. I wasn't. I was born in early 90s thats the reason why I know all this. Just because u dont have knowledge of something specific doesn't mean every other person is like you. I see common sense isn't so common these days
After all this interest in the is ad I made I just realised on viewing it again there is a continuity error. He is wearing two different wristwatches ! We did shoot it over a couple of days or half days maybe a week apart !
Boss: this package must be delivered at noon, or you are Finished ! others: Impossible... Dom : nothing is impossible with the power of Family. Flying with Hilux
