How does the FAT file system fit into this explanation? Is FAT basically a variable length portion indexed allocation method?

10:40 in the video, I believe that OS has no knowledge of how files are allocated, but disk controller, witch is hardware device inside disk is responsible for that. OS just fills controllers registers through driver so that it could know what data it should return to OS. But overall very helpful video, thanks a lot :)
