Today, we're focusing on how you can file your own VA disability claims without needing to involve third-party attorneys. First step: find your closest regional office. You can do this by calling 800.827.1000, where a counselor will direct you to the nearest facility and connect you with an accredited representative, like a Veteran Service Officer (VSO), who can help you complete and submit your claim forms.
There's no need for third-party involvement; everything can be handled directly within the VA system. As of March this year, it takes an average of 159.2 days to adjudicate a claim. If approved, you receive back pay from the day you filed, tax-free, which could amount to a significant sum. So, avoid those third-party fees and go straight to the source.
For more information on filing your claim, visit v.a.gov/disability/how-to-file-claim/ and download VA Form 21-526 EZ. If you have any questions or need further assistance, email me at yourveteranguru@gmail.com. Remember to join the Veteran Citizens Alliance Party and help us ensure veterans have a strong voice in Washington, D.C. Let’s empower ourselves and each other. Have a great day and rock on, folks!

I did it all by myself. I watched about a dozen different RU-vid videos by various people. Sat down and started. It was a real pain but I was awarded a disability.

Did all the paperwork my self with the help of my wife of course. First thing get Medical Records, second get Diagnosed for each claim your filing for, three make sure you have a Nexus for each claim you have made. You have to have the Big Three which are a in service event, current diagnoses and Nexus. All three are easy to get information on this site. Good luck and god bless my fellow vets!

I filed my latest disability claim with the help of a good VSO. To date, all of my conditions for which I filed over the past 20 years, that are well documented by doctors, have either been totally denied or approved and given a zero percent rating. My latest C&P was a total joke. It was a young NP, from a contractor, who hadn't even bothered to review my records and she told me that. No surprise when I read her report. Guess she knows better than cardiologists and gastroenterologists. Very disturbing the VA takes their word over qualified, specialist doctors, who have practiced for years. I know someone with very similar conditions to mine, who got a lawyer and got a substantial % and back pay, too. I'm either going that route or just giving up, I guess.
