Don't worry. The lyrics were written by a prominent Estonian poet, Aapo Ilves, and they are stunning. Fortunately someone provided a translation before in the comments here. My cue for tears is the line when he sings "Listen, the heart has a voice". That much I can understand of the Estonian based on my Finnish.

Listen to the horizon Listen to how far it takes you Listen to what the wind has to say Listen Watch as darkness approaches Wait - the light remains within us Listen to how your land breathes Listen Listen to what has fallen silent Just listen to these simple moments Listen - the heart too has a voice The path has passed into shadow I look and keep on looking Silence has the power to resound I wait for you here, halfway there Listen to my voice calling you Listen to what has fallen silent Just listen to these simple moments Listen - the heart too has a voice Listen to me now

Like you I did not care much about the song prior to the finale, and I was actually shocked how much the song did to me hearing it live. Its breathtaking, and it is all because of Ott. He attacked the song, made it his own and sang his heart out. That performance was flawless and its there in the top 10 best performances ever. Without understanding the lyrics, Ott made sure you felt every word. If you can do that, you are a phenomenal singer. Thank you Estonia for giving the rest of Europe this beautiful song, and the brilliant Ott.

Thanks for choosing Kuula. Imo it's our best ESC entry ever (Rändajad is very good too but I personally slightly prefer Kuula). This song has beautiful lyrics and Ott is an amazing singer ❤.

@@bonvillanueva8103 Thanks, Bon, and to Alex - I don't think that you would be disappointed if you'd see the translation of the lyrics (in case it's not just translated directly by google of course). This song has very beautiful, deep and emotional lyrics which really corresponds to the performance. Btw, Ott himself composed this song, lyrics are from an Estonian poet.

This is such a great song, I'm so happy you showed it to Bon! By the way, if my memory and Google translate don't both fail me, I think kuula means listen... I searched for it at some point, I hope I'm not remembering it wrong. Edit:oh, you searched for it too... Sorry, I commented befiore that part haha

Maybe after you've done the non-qualifiers competition you could do a 'voice of eurovision' competition to find the best vocal performance

Live perfomances make or break ballads, nothing to be ashamed of. I found Rise Like A Phoenix quite unremarkable until the live performance happened. As opposed to La Forza that I find still unremarkable (even if her high notes are legendary)
