we sang this when we graduated back in elementary school, I think that was way back 1980s. And I'm now 42, an atheist who doesn't believe in religion and gods. But I ask myself after remembering this song, at the dawning of my life when I look at the sunset.....was I brave? and strong? and true?....did I filled the world with love my whole life through?
This beautiful song was adopted as the school anthem for Hillcrest Primary and College, Mutare, Zimbabwe. Sung at the ex Headmaster, Richard Hanly's funeral service this morning. It was so befitting as he was a giant amongst men and lived up to these words and more. This version is magnificent.
One of my old time favourites. I loved the movie and as a retired teacher I hope my legacy was to show love to the students entrusted to me each year. Some were more of a challenge than others, but I hope they can look back and see that I wished only the best for them.
Mine also! The senior class was allowed to choose the song and we had seen the movie a few months earlier. The votes were almost unanimous. This still makes me teary 50+ years later.
DivaSoprano Cathedraldiva, I am trying to find a copy for a high school choir/glee club to sing. Can you tell me where I can find/purchase a copy of the version that your high school did? Thanks, Dave
Neville, do you think there is a copy available of the version your choir did? Our high school choir must do this and we need an arrangement. Thanks, Dav
This song was featured in the 1969 Peter O'Toole/Petula Clark remake of Goodbye Mr. Chips. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dW407rJUqVA.html
Fill The World With Love In the morning of my life I shall look to the sunrise. At a moment in my life when the world is new. And the blessing I shall ask is that God will grant me, To be brave and strong and true, And to fill the world with love my whole life through. (Chorus) And to fill the world with love And to fill the world with love And to fill the world with love my whole life through In the noontime of my life I shall look to the sunshine, At a moment in my life when the sky is blue. And the blessing I shall ask shall remain unchanging. To be brave and strong and true, And to fill the world with love my whole life through (Chorus) In the evening of my life I shall look to the sunset, At a moment in my life when the night is due. And the question I shall ask only I can answer. Was I brave and strong and true? Did I fill the world with love my whole life through? (Chorus)
