4/21/2021 Filling a raised garden bed with a mix of compost, peat moss, and vermiculite.
Last time I made my pretty much free pallet raised garden bed (only cost was screws). First I set the bed where I wanted it and pushed or hit the corners into the ground. This is how to fill your raised garden bed, I began to make the growing medium (Mel’s mix), I mixed equal parts compost, peat moss, and vermiculite together. I made sure to wet the peat moss and vermiculite so that it did not release as much dust particles into the air. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BREATHE PEAT MOSS OR VERMICULITE DUST!! Then I just filled the bin one mortar tray at a time until completely filled. This will be my bed for strawberries, I have 6 runners from my brothers and I purchase 25 bare root strawberries.
