I thought it was ironic that Fillmore called Augie a shrimp, but, then needs him to testify. If I were Augie, I'd leave Fillmore out to dry.

It's never revealed. It's not the South. That's basically the only thing we know for sure. Their accents don't sound like Minnesota.
