I had Chop as 4th best Edge. I was 99% comfortable that we would go edge in the first. This is a great pick. Going IOL at 21 would have been a mistake in my opinion. We can get a comparable guard to Barton like Haynes or Beebe. But you cant get anything like Chop in the 2nd.
I'm excited to see him develop. It could be interesting to see Chop, Sieler, Chubb and Phillips on the field at the same time in obvious passing downs you can disguise things well and the defense has to respect that.
You nailed it. He plays like a bat out of hell. Probably should've had 4 sacks against UMass instead of 2, and could've easily had 8-10 on the season if a few more plays went his way. He also missed 3 games. People are comparing him to Oweh, but I think Chop is a way better prospect than Oweh was. Yes, his length isn't great but he is 6'3 with 32 1/2 inch arms, Parsons is 6'3 with 31 1/2 inch arms.
Yeah Parsons is what you hope he becomes. I also think his floor is a bit higher than given credit for. Will he ever hit his ceiling? that I don't know

Chop isnt the pick that I would have made simply because I'm not brave enough. Dude can be insane and edge was an underrated need, but with Wilkins leaving im a little worried about the run defense for the DL.
i get what youre saying but none of the IDL guys at 21 can replace Wilk, between the 5 FAs they brought in i hope they can get the snaps needed next to Sieler. Chop has the potential to be elite on the other hand.
Not sure any of the DT's would have been as good as Wilkins that were remaining,.Newton was there but he was the type that was "pushed" around a bit and Byron Murphy was gone,.We took the guy with the highest upside and Floor ; )
And he should be able to cover TE's and RB's pretty good,. At #21 it was the best pick,.We also had to get Van Ginke's replacement,. We addressed O-line at #55 and the guy is a Project but he's a MONSTER which is consoling : )
He’s listed as an OLB in my Lindy’s draft guide and think that is how he was listed in NFL draft last night. Hopefully he will be somewhere close to Micah Parsons
he is perfect 21 pick, can't get no better. if they would have pick him in the top 10, then they would have been reaching, like they did with the other edge they took a few years back.
I have a hard time seeing this as a reach imo best pass rusher in the draft and his motor is nuts and his first step is insane he also ran a 4.4-4.5 at 220+ pounds 10 sack guy for years to come

Don't let your very good players walk out the door for comp picks. If you're the head coach and you choked down the stretch two years in a row, learn from your mistakes. Don't call plays over and over that you said sucked. I.e. the fade to the end zone in the Tenn game, which you then called again in the next couple games. Learn how to manage the game. Tighten up on the offensive penalties. Look at your record against winning teams in the last two years which is 2-14, including playoffs. Don't hang your hat beating bad teams such as the 2024 season. Where you beat up on teams with a combined record of NE 4-13 Jets 7-10 panthers 2-15 Washington 4-13 chargers 5-12 raiders 8-9 Denver 8-9 a combined record of 38-81 for a winning percentage of 32%. I'm sorry, I still think is this a bad pick. Jalen and Chubb are coming back and so we already have three high level players at that position under contracts. We only have two good players at WR.. One of them going down is MUCH worse than Chubb missing a few games. Waddle still isn't under a long contract and Reek has two years max. WR is a value position, Xavier would have been a crazy fit for the O scheme. Not to mention our O-line is currently mid tier at best. My thoughts on Chop are he's very fast and athletic but doesn't seem to know how to really wrap guys up for the tackle or sack, like a Chubb or AVG.. maybe that's coachable.. but that would be like taking a WR who's super athletic but can't catch the ball and justify it by saying "but he can work on his hands" I don't think that has a high success rate

That takes Berrios off the field and maybe even off the Team : ) With our limited Picks we couldn't have done better,. Our run game could hit a whole new stratosphere,. Now when Achane is out a few games we won't even BLINK,. Jaylen Wright is going to get some massive Holes in McDaniels motion mis-direction scheme ~

AVG is a rotational player. You don’t use 1st round picks for rotational, you use them to find franchise impact players. If our GM woulda locked in AVG for cheap when he could, we wouldn’t be wasting 1st rounders on replacements. You just proved my points.

We just got the fasted DE and the Fastest RB in the draft and we were already the Fastest team in the League,.. We MIGHT be Delusional ,.but that's a Far Cry from where we were for the last 20 yrs before McDaniel got here and we FLAT OUT SUCKED,. WE'RE definitely not regressing,.That new RB we got is going to take this offense even higher into the Statosphere : )
