can you tell the white balance settings you had in your camera for the first blue color tone video?
@torreymerritt
@torreymerritt 2 месяца назад
Sure! It wouldn’t have been below about 5400 kelvin. And specifically, that’s due to the fact that the environment was truly very very blue already but still a really good question. If you’re trying to sell that blue hour look and it’s not a very blue environment you can definitely cheat a bit with white balance. I will say that as long as you are shooting on a camera that records 10 bit, there’s a good amount of flex in the grade.

Your color grading is so on point. Tastefully Classy. Do you have any color grading tutorials like this?? Would love to learn much more!!!

Hey! It’s been great to get some decent feedback on my grading videos. I think enough people have shown interest that it’s time to record a new one pretty soon. I’ve got some videos in the works based on film photography but I’d love to upload a color grading video soon after!

Good day. At the tail end of your node tree, if you did not use the Lut before connecting to Dehancer, then what would your CST have for it's output gamma and color space (details)?
@torreymerritt
@torreymerritt 2 месяца назад
Sorry for the late reply on this question! I do believe Dehancer will accept quite a few incoming color spaces and gammas so that shouldn’t be a huge problem to convert your working space into Dehancer for output. I think I’m going to do an update on this video in the next month or so though, so stay tuned!

How do you have the project configured for dehancer?
@torreymerritt
@torreymerritt Год назад
Great question, so under the color settings at the project level, I have the color science set to DaVinci YRGB, timeline color space set to DaVinciWG/Intermediate, and output color space set to either Rec709 2.4 or Rec709-A

Subscribed! I’m a photographer and I like my filmic edits and I can’t seem to translate it to videos so I hope you can continue to show your process… ❤

Well done! I like the variety of images you showed and the flexibility of Dehancer to achieve different looks. A lot of the Dehancer demos go for a vintage look where you show you can get a more modern, yet filmic look.

This is super cool feedback because that's exactly what I was aiming to show - Dehancer doesn't just have to be only super vintage looking! Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the comment! I’ve taken a big break from this platform and I kind of regret not posting more. I’m going to aim to get some new stuff up. It will likely be a few film photography based videos but then I’d love to circle back to color grading as well. I’ll be brainstorming in the next week or so!

So glad you liked the video man! Is there anything specific you'd like to see in a follow up video? And I might try throwing some iPhone footage into the plugin to see how it does, that would be cool!

This is an amazing video and I love your color grade look! One question. How much color correcting and black/white/expo/sat do you usually change before looking at dehancer. Mine looks was off. Thanks! Hopefully I can figure it out it looks great
@torreymerritt
@torreymerritt Год назад
Thanks so much for the comment! So I'm actually planning on releasing another follow up video on Dehancer where I cover more color correcting and those kinds of decisions, but I will say that for the most part, there are fairly minimal color corrections in most of the grades. A HUGE part is getting your exposure right in camera, having a camera that can shoot 10 bit color, and then getting your color management 100% correct within DaVinci - if those things are all correct it's so much easier to grade footage. That being said if those things are all still correct and there is a lot of color correction needed, there are some key takeaways that we could probably cover on another video. I'll keep this in mind for the future!
