Hello sir Cult Cinema Classics, I have already congratulated thee on the good quality o’ yer subtitles in the French translation o’ the dialogues o’ the films : « the little Lord Fauntleroy », one Shirley Temple film, one film wi’ John Wayne the queer, the film « Too late fer tears » an’ « Quicksand » but today, ‘bout this film, I would like tae congratulate thee much mo’ warmly than the previous five times. Well, thou might not be behind the writing o’ the subtitles fer this movie, but I have tae find someone tae receive my congratulations. As thou wert a-strollin’ ‘round on my way, so it wilt be yew. Aléa jacta est. As far as this film iz concerned, the translation goes far beyond a simple correct literal translation, it iz rich in well-chosen images an’ perfectly obeying those o’ the French language. Wot a pleasure ! Realize, I just got out o’ the psychiatric hospital ‘cause I had the misfortune tae read ten Sherlock Homes films’ subtitles an’ I got madder than I already waz. In a nutshell, I'm very satisfied, but it's a shame that thou dinnae give me the opportunity tae burn down this S.O.B. o' Yewtube that I constantly complain ‘bout. So, kisses tae thee my beau.

PART TWO. Mental Health System Corruption. A minor addition to this sorry story is we had a leaflet thro the door which said if you are a victim contact Winchester Police HQ as they had been 'HIGHLY TRANIED by the HOME OFFICE. We have 12-15 yrs evidence of being threatened in courts, councils. political orgs and medical services so we tried to outline the history. To our shock/horror the character said THIS IS HIGH LEVEL INFORMATIUON SO IM PUTTING THE PHONE DOWN. To be honest we expected it as we had 12-15 yrs of their behaviour. This all started when we were sent mental health clients who were described as impossible. Their med record was a roll about five inches across. They were full of drugs and not only that had been badly treated by people who at this time we wont mention. They had recd over 20 yrs of drugging but still had orig symptoms and cause. They neede 7 hours of techniques that work and we had to teach them how to deliberately revert if there were social services about otherwise they would be persuaded to go back to the abnormal state. Other clients had recd up to eight yrs private as well as NHS incompetence and if we had not got to them that nite they would now be dead. One of them a dancer from Covent Garden had been off work for a year and had a GP b/f. We had her back at work within two weeks after having done one 6 hour session . We then got police attacks. Previously the CHC has told us - "Nental Health Is Clean Floors And Startegic Toilet Rolls And No One Is allowed To know Anything About It So Dont Bother Writing To The Dept Health Because They wont respond". All of these people were featured in huge photos in the local press but when we tried to tell the press what was the We are very wary of the publics vision of people. The local press in this area also owned the press in our former area. We noticed that the newspaper each week was publ huge phtos of councillors and others and painting a picture of mass heroism. We knew by then that most of the articles were lies and we caught up wiith one particuar hero at the Coucil inspired CHC meeting. The CHCs were hoodwinking the public on Mental Health issues so it baffled us how this particular woman was being hailed as perfect. We manager to start asking her questions and to our alarm she blurted out- " Dont Bother About Helping The Public. I Used To Do That And Look At Me Now Im A there so thats when we found that the Educ System were doing cover ups re Mental Health. That continues to today. Another example of the being perfect hysteria was to do with the local Mental Hosp whose staff and clients were coming to us for remedial work. The Psych Mngr when we coplained about this stated "comstate of the clients coming to us we got no response. We then found that friends ours who were teachers were involved in the press and in fact theor children were journalists petence has no value in mental health" and put the phone down. We then got onto the staff at the Hosp, thet said -- "we dont blab but she has caused deaths here and its been hushed up by the local police. council. courts. coroner" Then there was the usual stabbing. We knew the victim, a psych nurse ( we call them establ drug mill shepherds which is same as Social Services). and we also knew how clueless and dangerous she was but lo and behold the local press said she was a saint and better. etc etc etc etc

When this film was released, it was probably the lower half of a twin feature and paired with a more "prestige" picture. It must have been great going to the flicks back then. You got three to four hours of solid entertainment, a newsreel, and maybe a cartoon. This is a nice, tight little film, well acted and with a driving narrative. People in 1949 must have left the theater knowing they got their money's worth.

Vincent Price is one of my fave male actors from classic Hollywood. His voice has to be one of the best "voices" in cinema, then or now. How perfect it was for all those horror movies he made. Then his long and face with slightly sunken eyes easily lent themselves to a very creepy look with all the other atmospheric elements, music, sound, makeup & costuming woven into horror films. Of course, Price was a very skilled actor and could put himself believably into whatever character he needed to be.

That was a really good movie for 1946. Back then with no DNA testing, crimes were a lot harder to solve. He almost got away with it. I bet there were a lot of accidental deaths back then that were never investigated. The husband initially never questioned his wife on more details like where she saw this murder so he could have put two and two together with the doctor instead of thinking she was hallucinating. If the husband had never sought out a second opinion and brought in.another doctor, Dr Cross would have had all the control and no one to question him. Once Mrs Stewart realized her doctor was the murderer she witnessed, she should have pretended not to remember, figuring out why he had her there and that he had complete control to keep her committed until she could piece together what she witnessed and pass the information onto her husband. Even though it’s a just a movie, it’s fun to theorize.

I can't believe it...I've been a fan of Vincent Price's for over 40 years and I haven't seen this one. He gave me a new saying though...next time someone asks me if I'm going to someone's funeral, I'm simply going to reply, "I'm going to meet them at the lodge". LOL. Has anyone else noticed that the house where Price meets the wicked nurse is that same house used in Price's other film, "Leave her to Heaven"?

Aah.. Vincent in his leading man phase , before he became known for his horror roles. You know he was one of the top romantic leading men in hollywood at the time! This is, I think, the start of his "mild mannered" villain roles.. where he oh so reluctantly murders and tortures, always driven on by guilt or coercion, like from the girlfriend in this pic.. His Roger Corman roles were still to come, as was the "ultra villain" roles of Doctor Phibes.. But here he was still playing the guilt ridden "what have I done!" characters. Priceless. excusing the pun here!

Mr. Price many people miss you, gone are the movies where there was no swearing, no sex on the screen. It's sad that actors, producers, writers, directors wonder why today's movies are crap...there are no good actors, no movie with a decent storyline, or without showing boobs or swearing!!! We will never, ever see great movies again. When a song wins an academy award singing about "it's hard out here for a pimp"...... forget Hollywood. It's all trash.

I find it petty when people can’t just enjoy and appreciate a film. You’ve spent more time whining about modern films than saying what’s good about this one. You don’t have to criticise to praise. You don’t like modern films that fine. But plenty do so let them appreciate what they like and you appreciate what you like. Save the criticism.

It’s quite intentional. They deliberately began to try to destroy freedom, proper family structure and function, morality, and God himself. They started many decades ago, using the drop by drop method. From social engineering the attitudes and behavior of the masses, to things like soy, estrogen laden baby formula, demonizing various foods and cholesterol, so people would eat more damaging Frankenfoods when there’s nothing wrong with animal fats and proteins, in fact they’re critical for proper organ maintenance and renewal, and in and on…none of it is accidental. It’s all been quite intentional indeed. Refusing to engage is of paramour importance. When Hollywood tells you they couldn’t do it without you, they mean it. When you watch the news, leading to mentally and spiritually puke on you, you voluntarily allow them to mind control and manipulate you. The job of the media is not to inform you, but to disinform you. Their job is “to shape and mold public opinion and behavior, both foreign and domestic”. And that’s all they’re there to do. Starting in the 1880s, some Luciferian families began to buy up newspapers and magazines. They progressed on and on to acquiring the stations, newspapers, magazines, movie studios, and all forms of media, and they now own appx. 98% of mainstream and alternative media worldwide. Then by using multiple layers of umbrella companies, they just make what appears to be various stations and media sources for all viewpoints, pitting them against each other. They want to make it look like all viewpoints are being represented, but their end goal is to keep steering people towards their long-term goals by as many routes as are necessary, and to keep peoples fighting so they won’t notice who is pulling the strings. All the rest of us can say is don’t engage and don’t fall for it.
