Tom Hanks first HBO miniseries “From the Earth to the Moon” is incredible and often forgotten.

It's very much like BoB with each episode told from a different viewpoint.

And after Jacqui finishes that, she should also watch astronaut related movies Apollo 13 (with Tom Hanks) and First Man (directed by Damien Chazelle).

Jacqui, both this series end Band of Brothers have an additional "bonus" episode!! The episode title for this series is "The Bloody 100th" the one for Band of Brothers is called "We Stand Alone Together"! Both are definite MUST WATCH!!❤

Originally, Ep.9 was supposed to be two episodes. I would have preferred if the first three episodes had been condensed into two, which would have allowed the final few episodes to breathe. Completely agree the series should have bookended differently. With Cleven and Egan reuniting in the USA (rather than the base), Crosby going home to his wife and son, and Rosie making the decision to go to Nuremberg. I even suspect that was the original ending, before the budget ran low. Those scenarios were what the series was building towards, and would have been the natural conclusion. Cleven and Egan were introduced at the home-front with Marge, Crosby was the Everyman who was worried he could not have a normal life after the war, and Rosie was the Jewish lawyer who was confronted with the devastating reality of what happened to his people.

PS: as for the scene in the camp. Robert Rosenthal did see several camps while in Poland, on the way to Moscow.

I personally wouldn’t touch the first few episodes at all. 1 through 5 and honestly six are so good imo. But yes I would’ve extended this show a bit longer with an additional homecoming episode. The prison escape stuff is great and I like the great escape. But they spent a lot of time on it when it honestly didn’t amount to much. Especially with their plans to be ready to fight, escape or go on a death march. Probably scrap the D-Day part with Sandra and have a bit more of that, less of the prison stuff. I’d have added a series of scenes with Crosby and Jean reuniting during his R&R back home. Having that baby. 😂 Make it all feel conflicted to link up with his Niztsche quote in the final episode. The only other thing too is I would’ve liked a bit more love for the RAF and to showcase moments where they were working together well. Because as is the show makes it look like the one hundredth and the raf were always clashing. In crosby’s book, there are plenty of examples of both.

I watched this through the eyes of a history buff. I've read a lot about the plight of the army air corps in WW II and the devastating losses they endured due to daylight bombing raids. I think this series did an excellent job showing just how terrifying it was for our brave airmen. I really enjoyed your reactions, and I agree; I, too, wanted more in certain areas, but overall, it is something the modern world should see, and always remember. I got the feeling that you feel the same way, judging by the empathy and admiration you show for our greatest generation. It really comes through in your reactions, so thank you for that.

The companion documentary the Bloody Hundredth is excellent and you should see it. RU-vid has a talk Rosie gave at an airbase which is really good. Rosie's grandson is an actor who had small role in this show.

Speaking of the subject of the Holocaust, there was a haunting film released this year that won 2 Oscars in the recent ceremony that I believe is worth watching: THE ZONE OF INTEREST (2023). The amazing thing is how it manages to convey the eerie atmosphere without explicitly showing anything. It beat OPPENHEIMER to win the Oscar for Best Sound (and deservedly so IMO), and the way THE ZONE OF INTEREST utilizes sound design is frankly next level.

I feel the same way about the last episode wing rushed. I wished they showed more of the key moments of the group. I highly recommend reading the books that were used as the inspiration for the series. The first being Masters of the Air and second A wing and Prayer that was written by Crosby himself. The books goes into much more details about a number of the key missions that the 100th were a part of that were not seen in the show. I wished they showed that Rosie was actually shot down twice. The opening to this episode was actually the second time, he was also shot down in September of 44 over France where he was pulled from the wreck by France resistance fighter and sent back to England recovered and went back to flying missions. I wished more of the series were spent in the bomber as well, but I also under they can only show them going up getting and getting attacked, dropping bombs so many times and make it interesting and make it feel like your not watching the same thing over and over again. I just feel like a 10th episode would have given them more time to show a few other key moments of the group.

Had Ep.8 featured Rosie being shot down over Nuremberg and crashing in France, and Sandra telling Crosby about Jews disappearing from occupied territories. It would have added more depth to that episode and the finale. Since there would have been more context for what the audience was seeing, and would have tied all the storylines together better. For me, where the finale stumbles is after Rosie and Cleven return to Thorpe Abbots. As that is where the ending seems to be rushed and way too convenient.

Hi incREDibly gorgeous lady ❤️ Thanks for completing this awesome series, I love it and rate it infinitly higher than band of brothers & the pacific. I'm a 'war in the air' guy and this series has ticked all my aerial warfare boxes. Air war is so much more exciting and entertaining to watch #facts I'm glad you've enjoyed it and as a follow up to it, I highly recommend you react to Red Tails (2012) - the story of the Tuskegee Airmen in combat. & Memphis Belle (1990) One of the first B25's to complete the '25' - They're both essential react-to material, as well as The Battle Of Britain (1969) & The Dambusters (1954) I love your reactions and I'm subscribed 😊 Keep up the fantastic work you do. Lots of love from the UK 🇬🇧

Operation Manna (29th april-7th may 1945) and Operation Chowhound (1-8th may 1945) was a joint operation between Britain, commonwealth, the americans and other allied nations to help relieve the Dutch famine of 1944-45. Over 11k tons of food was dropped combined to help feed the dutch. This was then followed up with Operation Faust which was land based relief. 18'000 to 22'000 died during the dutch famine. Possibly more

Crosby was that angry about the equipment room. The way he said it was one of his navigators came to him saying the room was locked and they didnt have parachutes. They may have been masters of the air but going without a parachute would have been insane. After he broke down the door he then went to find the supply officer and his buddies and chewed them out. As he was doing so in his head he was thinking who is this crosby?

Not supposedly, Rosie Rosenthal was shot down over Nuremberg in September 1944 and crashlanded in American-occupied France. He was pulled out of the cockpit unconscious and shipped to a military hospital in England, where he woke up and spent the next month or so recovering. He was awarded his first Purple Heart and second Silver Star.

The entire series of Masters of the Air is on my channel, and I had already finished filming Band of Brothers by the time I started watching it. It was just a matter of getting them edited and posted, and the schedule got messed up. As noted in the description, everything is available early on Patreon. The last two episodes of BoB will be posted shortly 👍🏻

Harry and Sandra's relationship were contrived with the blessing of Harry's family realizing this was a movie not a documentary. I agree adding her and the Tuskegee Airmen to the plot was unnecessary. The 1995 Tuskegee Airmen with Laurence Fishburn, Cuba Gooding Jr and Andre Braugher is a pretty good movie, 2012 Red Tails not so much.

I promise I'm not a grumpy old man but just saying, yes we have seen the episode, but we watch the reaction to enjoy you reacting to the arc of the episode. When you show us a moment with peak emotional resonance at the very start of the reaction it's like taking some air out of the balloon. We(Well, I) want to reach that moment when we get to it naturally. I do enjoy all your reactions btw, but I try quickly to skip over the beginning spoiler moment. Ok now I'm going outside to yell at a cloud.

Jacqui, I'm an old fart, and already taken by the most beautiful woman I have ever met (and who still puts up with me, for 43 years!) so please do not this as a creepy comment, but you have very pretty eyes. Also, some very good opinions and critiques on how movies are made. And the latter is what caught my attention at first. Thanks.
