I know, right? I was trying to focus on Leatherwood, but my eyes kept going to Jenkins... Leatherwood can learn some things from Tevin, especially that if a D lineman or OLB jumps at a pass, you shove them as soon as their feet leave the turf and land them on their ass -- they'll stop trying to do that against you after a few hard lands on their back.

@@yuhbtw - all lineman get tossed from time to time; D-linemen are just as big and strong and get paid to do their jobs, too... the question is, does the O lineman win his battle far more often than he loses?

Leatherwood looked good and will get better, give him more reps and time with Tev that side of the line will be awesome. I know it's hard to see right now with the loses but the tide is turning. Getting the #2 pick in the draft will be huge. The Bears would likely be able to trade back 2 or 3 stops and bring in a huge haul of picks. If they rolled the dice and moved back 4 to 5 places the haul would be even better for the coming year and the following one. We'd be able to pick up DL, OL, WR, CB, & LB. We probably get some nice help in FA as well. Poles knows what he is doing.

Sometimes it takes a player a few to get up to NFL speed. The geniuses that are destroying the Raiders outright released two starting lineman from the 2020 playoff team (AL and John Simpson) and also released Lester Cotton. All 3 were signed by other teams. Leatherwood has some issues but I felt he improved last year and was playing pretty well towards the end of the year. I hope he kills it.

Notice how much thicker Leatherwood is from the waist down than Braxton Jones. He and Teven Jenkins both are so much stronger through their base than anyone on the left side of the line.
@peterstachura8595
@peterstachura8595 Год назад
@Ed Owsiany You do realize that Jones came from an FCS program which doesn’t even have the strength coaching and programs that most of the other major programs have! TRUST ME, give Jones a year or two with a REAL strength program for him to work on getting his anchor stronger (which was his main weakness coming out) and you’ll see him become an ELITE LT!! Mark my words!!
@Ed03376
@Ed03376 Год назад
@@peterstachura8595 I don’t disagree and I do know where he came from. I was just pointing out the obvious difference. It is also a point Jones has made about himself and his need to get stronger, particularly in the lower half.

@nwchrista

It wasn't Tevin Jenkins screwing up in that last play, it was Must'v-erred. Jenkins pulled left to link off the backside pursuit. Must'v-erred got blown up and that 5 why the play failed. However, Must'v-erred looked to have a decent game, overall. At times, he looks serviceable. But the obvious path forward is to get Dieter Eiselyn in there and getting snaps. The defensive front of the Packers created some problems for the Bears offensive line all day long. Even Tevin Jenkins was forced into a holding penalty once. However, it's a certainty that Jenkins was forced to do extra work to cover for the new guy on his right and Must'v-erred on his left. And we saw some offensive line domination at times in this game.

I believe we have 2 OL starters for next year in Jones and Jenkins. Leatherwood could become #3 and want to see more tape. Cut whitehair to save money and sign a top fa center , guard and maybe tackle. Also want to see 3 DL via fa as well. Other holes fill via draft. Was down to trade pick but now I want that Carter kid. He looks like Aaron Donald on hgh, but is a 2 down player at best. The Bama rusher seems small to me and not a good fit for us but could be wrong.
