As a Jets fan, I’d be happy to walk away with Bowers. We DO need another OT, and WR, so my fav option would be to trade back and get a guy like Fautanu and best WR available in the 2nd, but that takes a trade partner which is never guaranteed. Altogether walking away with Bowers would help both our O-line and receiving, so if we have to stick and pick, I think he may be my top choice. Odunze is a freak of an athlete but contested catch WRs with poor route running/separation always give me pause

@@daveplefka2180 I’ve seen mixed results from what I’ve watched/heard about him. He seems to be 50/50 off the line, either getting great separation or getting beat to his spot/bullied off his path. While he’s quick for his size, he lacks the top speed necessary to be a consistent separator on deep passes. Of course, separation is less necessary when you can turn a 50/50 ball into a 70/30 ball, but I just feel like contested catch receivers are always especially crap shoots coming out of college; just because you can bully college athletes in the air for the ball doesn’t always mean you can do the same to NFL players.

I think he's going to be an amazing starting QB for our Raiders for many years to come..... oh wait....... FUCK. WE DONT HAVE A REAL QB. I knew we forgot something this offseason...... Oh well, let Brock start and see how much better he'll be at QB than Minshew or AOC.

People have to be reminded every year. The NFL is different. The players that succeed are the ones put in the position to succeed. In addition, the standouts of the last three or four drafts were 2nd, 3rd, and even 5th round draft picks. College coaches are different than NFL coaches. It rarely translates like you think it does. With that being said, I'd love to have a well rounded, affiable, intelligent tight end like him on my team. But I'm never reaching for a tight end. I want OTs, QBs, DEs, and CBs in my first rounds, and in that order. I'd also point out that the only film used in this analysis was UT Martin and UAB. Not exactly powerhouses.

I don't see Bowers breaking all of those tackles in the NFL, but he does an excellent job of finding soft spots in the zone. He's a dynamic runner who will break & slip some tackles at the next level. He's more elusive than people think, too. I agree with your assessment.Bowers is a probowl caliber all-around talented tight end, who could be generational because of intangibles.

He’s gonna fall because of all the talk of “you don’t draft a TE top 10” and a team is gonna get a steal and Bowers will benefit from that because he’s gonna go to a better team.

He did look great against Alabama as a freshman even tho they lost, and against Ohio state in 2022 he made multiple game saving plays, also he single handedly saved Georgia from losing to Missouri the last year in 2023, he completely took over the game the last 2 drives. And Missouri was really good. Other huge games against Oregon, Michigan, and Tennessee over last 3 years as well

I think the data is pretty clear that guys who can break tackles at the college level are very likely to be able to break tackles at the NFL level. To me his ceiling is limited at only 6'3 with a terrible contested catch rate but the floor is as good as it gets at TE.

That's the only thing that I feel he needs to work on. Making the more difficult catches. Whether it's contested, a ball thrown high, or if he needs to turn and extend and or contort. I'm not too worried as even when he doesn't come down with those, it doesn't appear as if he's trying to go past his athletic limits or ability. The rest of the game he possesses is practically similar to mold of Kelce/Kittle/Kincaid/etc, etc and that seems to translate best to the NFL. What separates him imo, is his ability to make those difficult pad level and lower catches and his skill level with the ball in his hands.
@justincarlyle3839
@justincarlyle3839 7 дней назад
you clearly only looked at his stats from last season which he was mostly injured, he was top 10 in contested catches for any receiver the year before
@goclbert
@goclbert 7 дней назад
@@justincarlyle3839 I only watched his snaps from 2023, didn't actually look at his contested catch stats at all. The struggle with contested catches was just something that stood out over that span. I looked up a cutup of his contested targets in 2022 and I will say that he can catch in traffic over the middle but he's definitely not a high-point the football in the red zone kind of guy. He also doesn't have that forearm shove at the top of the route you see from bigger/stronger TEs.
