Because Bowers ended up in Vegas, where they have Big Michael Mayer already as the Y, Bowers will be used as the ultimate chess piece. As a play caller I can't state enough how much this will open up the Audible Kill calls in the huddle.

I want someone to really address the elephant in the room when it comes to WR. Since the Patriots won their first Super Bowl SRs and TEs are more likely to be the primary passing target on a Super Bowl champion than a WR. The last superbowl champion where the primary passing target was a WR, was the broncos with DT (RIP). More to the point your as likely to make a Super Bowl with a top 10 salary WR as a NBA team making it to the finals with a max contract giving to a Uberathletic/Slashing point guard. So explain to me why 3 WR’s are going top 10 when you’ve got a generation TE and an amazing OL group? Is it because most of the teams in the top 15 repeatedly screw up their draft picks?

Absolutely agree and remember this too! Done at a fraction of the cost! Even Travis Kelce makes a fraction of what even the Titans paid the kid from Atlanta. Patriots and Chiefs know how to do it. Raiders gonna eat with 12 personnel with him and Mayer!

If all of the big 3 receivers are gone by 9, I want the Bears drafting him. He’s a matchup nightmare and YAC beast. Can’t value him as just a receiving TE. Plus we have the OC to make it work.

I feel bad for tight ends man. The guys who are the biggest freaks get drafted early by teams who stink and those guys never hit their ceiling. Look at the ones who become the best players: Gronk (had Brady), Kelce (has Mahomes), Graham (had Brees), Kittle (doesnt matter who his qb is cuz the tight end is featured in that O), Andrews has Lamar, etc. And none of them 1st round picks. Just goes to show becoming a great tight end in the nfl is almost entirely dependent on a being drafted by a good team with a good to great qb with very few outliers.

My issue with this is drafting a TE in R1 seems like a luxury pick and no team picking high in the draft is in the position to take a luxury pick. A guy like Bowers would be better off going in the 2nd half of round 1 to an already solid offense to put them over the edge

@@HarrisonHollerswhat are you talking about? It’s a valid concern to question why a team would draft a te when they have more important needs like wr, edge, cb or oline. You can get very serviceable tight ends in the later rounds and for cheap in free agency, is not just about how good the player is, you need to consider the rookie contract value and what you could get instead.

@BigPat216
@BigPat216 Месяц назад
Absolutely not. When does this ever help a team taking a TE in the top 10, let alone round 1 period? Hockenson was probably the best pick or Njoku. Problem is only the top TE’s have elite production and they are seen as first round busts without 1k yard seasons.

@@paranoia_xo Rodgers had young Devontae Adams, Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, Jermichael Finley etc. And Bowers isn't elite. He's an above average but not great athlete. Good player, good at YAC, can scheme for him. He'd be a decent 2nd round pick.

He's been mocked as high as top-5. An undersized tight end that's too slow to be a receiver and doesn't block well enough to be an inline tight end, he will be the most overrated player in the entire draft. 4.99 relative athlete score
