You have my respect for actually watching healthy Trevor Lawrence film instead of just saying he’s bad like other people in the media.

I really don't think many people in the media are saying this. Most film analysts and media people think he's a great QB. It's just become a trendy hot take among fans to call him bad recently.
@Vo1kfang

@@macgobhann8712 I just watched a segment yesterday from one of the FS1 programs where all 4 of the hosts said Trevor sucked last year and didn't deserve an extension. I don't know that Trevor necessarily deserves Joe Burrow money, but when Jared Goff gets $53M and Joe gets $55M, there's not a lot of window there to say you deserve at least what Goff got but not as much as Joe. I get he hasn't shown to the national TV audience that he lives up to the generational tag, but if the Jags don't pay him then there's probably 15-20 teams in the league that would GLADLY give him whatever he wants.

In the past 5 years, Joe Burrow has been the only AFC QB other than Mahomes to go to the Super Bowl. I don't think you can use the "they haven't gone to the Super Bowl" argument as a knock against AFC QBs because you can't say Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Herbet, Tua, and Stroud all suck because they are good QBs but none have beaten out Mahomes for a Super Bowl trip. When it comes to Lawrence, the thing that has had the biggest impact on his play has been the offensive line. In his rookie year, PFF ranked them 24th; 2022 they ranked 19th; 2023 they ranked 27th with no one posting an overall grade above 70.0. And their Center Luke Fortner played 1163 offensive snaps and recorded a dismal 44.3 overall grade, 40.0 run blocking, and 54.9 pass blocking grade from PFF. Even ETN only had 0.7 avg yards before contact. Trevor has small accuracy problems, for whatever reason you want to determine from the tape. His WRs did not help him on this front (as the 2 minute Twitter lowlight reel will attest to) but he should work on that and his redzone decision making. I hope them trying to bring in better depth along the OLine, as well as upgrading from Fortner to Mitch Morse at center gives Trevor more time in a clean pocket and allows Doug to dial up some longer-developing concepts. Thank you for watching the tape instead of looking at just the box score.

@123shoshan In a year when he was injured for the final 6 games (missing 2 of those), the GM didn't do anything to help him, and his WRs and OL almost missed more games than they played he still won 9. To give you some perspective: Engram, Ridley, Etienne, and Luke Farrell were the only offensive skill players to play all 17 games. Kirk only played 12, Agnew played 10, and Zay Jones only 9. On the offensive line, Center Luke Fortner played all 17 games at a PFF rating of 55 (and has been replaced by Buffalo's Mitch Morse), and Anton Harrison also played all 17 games with a shoulder injury suffered in the pre-season. Ezra Cleveland (7games), Walker Little (11 games), and Cam Robinson (9 games) split time at LT/LG and Brandon Scherff was also playing with an undisclosed injury all season.

I would say his negatives last year were trying to do a little too much on broken plays (hero ball). That and trying to play injured obviously put the team in a worse position.
@someroastbeefachickenapizz3580
@someroastbeefachickenapizz3580 11 дней назад
The important question to ask is did he play hero ball because he wants to be a gunslinger (ex. Josh Allen) or did he do it because he had no other choice? It has to be the latter for me because his offensive line was so bad that he had no running game so how else are they gonna win games? Ridley didn't help much either, the dude dropped like 7 TDs I think
@NoHaBi02
@NoHaBi02 11 дней назад
@@someroastbeefachickenapizz3580 I'll be honest though, Lawrence seems to be at his best when he is allowed to improvise and throw on the run. This was always the case at Clemson, and has been the case in the NFL. His best and most consistent play comes from PA passes and improvisations. The problem is that the Jags seem to want to force him into being a system QB, and I really, REALLY don't agree with that approach.

@Rtapley89 12 дней назад
If Mitch morse is the upgrade we need at center you can mark my words Trevor is going to shut a lot of mouths this season. He has an issue of trying to play hero ball when a play breaks down yes. It's caused fumbles and turnovers. People don't realize how bad the center was. Fortner was consistently thrown back into Trevor off the snap or less than a second after it. It made both guard positions weak as well because they had no choice but to try and assist. If your center cant hold the point at all the whole line suffers especially the interior. If morse stops that bs we will be able to run the ball as well. Atleast much better than last year. I don't care that the media says it's a passing league. If you can't run the ball and make a defense play honestly you're in trouble. Trevor has to learn to throw the ball away and live to play another down at times. We all know this. However if that O-Line Is infact better in the interior he will be able to get to his 2nd and 3rd read more instead of one read and then absolute chaos. Alot of times the chaos happened without a blitz. That can't happen and i believe with Morse next to Scherff it won't. Those two older guys are going to have an understanding that the younger guys won't. That understanding that comes with playing for so long. If they stay healthy Trevor will have Nick Wright roasting his guys on the show.

I kinda disagree with your game manager QB take, and yes, I know its not an insult. Lawrence was always better throwing on the run with PA passes, and when improvising at Clemson. This has even been the case in the league, on the rare occasion we get to see it. The problem is that the Jags seem to be forcing him into playing by their system, and I really disagree with that approach. Most of Lawrences best plays, and most consistent play, comes from when they allow him to make his own decisions and when they allow him to move around a bit. Making him sit in the pocket, and throw these predetermined short pass plays, is not good for his style of play at all.

He has led ENTIRE NFL in Turnovers over THE LAST 3 YEARS...the WORST thing a QB can do is turn the ball over.he has more than EVERYONE else over not 1 but 3 years...THAT is VERY VERY Bad...now cue the "it's Urban Meyer and Trent Baalke's fault" that trevor fumbles and throws it to the other team like the local fanboys always say...because nothing is ever Trevor's fault.

The supporting cast isn't that great. Zero rushing attack. So it's always 100% on Trevor. Has he been perfect? No. He's fumbled way too much in the pocket and when scrambling. He knows he must stop this bleeding. He will get that fixed. The Jags are 2-3 years away from being a legitimate contender. There are a lot of holes. Maybe they improve a little this year. A couple things to remember - a 66 mph fastball means he can throw a deep out on a frozen rope - as fast a release as anyone in the league - and very accurate if given just a second to set his feet. If you can't see the talent and some of the issues around him then I think your blind. His day will come, don't know when or with which team but it will come. Great comparison to A Luck. So many similariites including getting the crap knocked out of them behind bad O lines. Ownership is not going to allow this to continue - he can't help if he's consantly being sacked and injured.

I certainly think he's underrated. But I definitely get the criticism as well. The guy was touted as the next Andrew Luck and unfair or not, and he certainly has not lived up to the hype. And when you have CJ Stroud, have a season that blows his out of the water in his rookie season, with relatively the same talent, it definitely looks bad. And when you compare him to other first pick qbs: Joe Burrow, Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Kyler Murray, heck even Baker Mayfield, he just doesn't look like a number 1 overall pick. Now, I think he can easily improve this upcoming season, but he's definitely losing credit

His team was not good compared to Houston, and he had Urban Meyer as his head coach. 2022 was basically the reset button for him. 2023 was going well before the injuries. During that stretch, he had as many turnovers as he did before the injuries as of late. I think it was a combination of lack of practice which led to miscommunications and having injuries to Kirk and Zay as well. My biggest knock on him is that he fumbles too much. I think he’ll prove so many people wrong if he stays healthy and not have WRs dropping perfectly thrown TD passes (mhm Ridley mhm).
@Vo1kfang
@Vo1kfang 12 дней назад
I think the comparison to Stroud's team is unfair. Trevor was coming in on the 1st year of a rebuild with Urban Meyer as HC. Stroud was taken in year 3 of the rebuild. Demeco Ryans is to Urban Meyer as Gordan Ramsey is to the 16 year old making your burger at McDonalds. The offensive line in Houston is miles ahead of the Jags. The Jags O-line hasn't finished better than 17th in PFF's final rankings, Houston's finished 15th this year and "Over the first 11 weeks of the season, Houston's front five allowed 92 total pressures and ranked fourth in pass-blocking efficiency rating." Trevor's only WR to play all 17 games: Marvin Jones. Laviska Shenault played 16, Tavon Austin played 13, Laquon Treadwell 12, Agnew 10.
