And so becomes a competition of just being better than anyone in exchange of being his true self…he was never able to control rejection, what if rejection came in his path as a dragon warrior, would he had taken his dissolution on the population as well?

And if somebody was "turning evil" before your eyes, and you're a wise powerful man, what should you do? That was the point of this video. Oogway chose violence in dealing with evil, and pushed them to become more evil, rather than showing kindness and patience and guidance to a better path.

13:27 to be Fair, Kung Fu is about the person themselves fighting, it's not a Robot battle. That was a Sensible Gatekeep. I would have kept them as the Obstacle Engineer and continued training them so that both they and thier Machines got better since understanding movement is half the battle in learning any martial arts.

Viewing it from another angle, the masters' gatekeeping could be a way to test the student's capability of handling disappointment. An interesting premise but there were some deliberate cuts of the scenes you used for evidence that directly disprove the points you're trying to make. Such as Oogway telling Po that he was not that different from the 'Hopeless' students, literally right after you cut the scene to make the exact same point.

One of the reasons I got so into the theory channels is because MatPat's voice was just so good for background noise for my adhd brain. I was slightly worried the new hosts wouldn't match the same vibe for me, but so far, Lee and Tom have been awesome! MatPat made some great choices, and we're so lucky to have you guys as our new hosts

I’d disagree with that idea. If you watched the origins of the furious five stories and the story of the three masters - Oogway was never very similar to the Jedi at all. Especially for what he foresaw in Po during the first film. Po wasn’t treated the same way Anakin was. It’s even confirmed in the third film when Po reunited with him in the spirit realm. “A way to unite the past and the present- to begin anew”. Even foreshadowed when he talked to Po at the Peach tree.

I was introduced to game theory when I was in middle school by a friend.. I’ve been here though all the new channels and now I’m 25 married with 2 kids. Definitely sucks seeing Mat go but it makes sense- dudes going out when everything is doing good which is smart and now I’m sitting here on my break at work and here I am 17:23 minutes later and Lee, you got this I don’t really comment on anything but I’ll gladly do it if there’s a chance you see this and know that I can speak for the couple dozen people I know who watch everything the theorist put out and have for the last decade- naturally we were worried but good to know film theory has a very promising host🙏 amazing video

I agree with many but not all points. The point of the dragon warrior is that you are supposed to put yourself last in order to protect others. So when you open the scroll you will see yourself and realize the progress you made and know that you are ready. But people like Tai Lung only wanted the title so they could be revered by people and Oogway didn't want that arrogance getting to his head, and tried to humble him but was unfortunately too late. Tai Lung puts himself before others that's why he was threatening the lives of innocent people and causing harm in the city just so he can have the "power" and title to himself. Oogway was probably the least flawed character here. Of course he is going to imprison people who try to challenge his position. Its not just a fun Kung fu match, his position of power as leader of the city was in danger as well as his life, though a Kung fu duel is the kid-friendly way of portraying that. Just like real life, you will end up in jail

Hey just wanted to say that on a personal note to Lee, your absolutely smashing it with your first official film theory episode. Matpat’s left some pretty big shoes to fill and I think what your doing is amazing! Mat should be very proud of who he’s chosen. I can’t wait to see what’s next and what you bring to the channel, I’m sure the next generation of younger theorists will be very lucky to have you as the next big iconic voice to their childhoods!

yep, matpat definitly left some big shoes to fill and in terms of not doing proper research and blatent dishonesty lee is definitly filling those shoes in this video

At first, I was upset 😢 MatPat left the channel and I understand he's a busy man and father now but I went into this episode with some skepticism and within two minutes Lee won me over. Good job, my dude, I feel Film Theory is in good hands now

Holy smokes, Lee has a really good narrator voice! I somehow didn't realize until now?? I didn't get a good read on him beforehand so I was kinda doubtful how he'd do as a channel host, but I'd listen to this buttery smooth voice alll day 👀
